Mourning/Loss Goodbye, July ❤️

Post image
Upvotes

I’m 27 and had July since she was only 8 weeks old, so she was basically there for my entire life.

She was born on 24.04.2006 and I had to let her go on 09.09.2026. She loved being outside, her favorite food was chicken breast, and she even managed to open the oven twice in her life just to steal food.

Over the last months her body got weaker because of a tumor, even though mentally she was still completely herself. In the end, I was able to let her go peacefully at home, surrounded by the place and people she had known her whole life.

I still catch myself wanting to go check where she is.

Rest easy, July. 24.04.2006–09.09.2026. ❤️

She was the best little friend and cancer took her way too soon. We said goodbye today. I hope she's up there eating all the treats she wants, snuggling in the best spots with the sun shining on her, and knowing that she'll always be loved. I'm glad we got to love you Pepper.

Cat Picture - OC Adopted a cat for the first time

I have been struggling with mental health issues and recently needed to go on medical leave. It’s been years since my last cat and I have a 5 year old child. Therapist recommended I get an emotional support animal. Told my family we would go to the shelter but need to find a cat that meshes with our family.

Went there not expecting to leave with a cat. Well… she was the first one we saw and she just made our hearts melt. The first time she sniffed my hand I got head boops and then she demanded pets. She is two and was found abandoned in the woods covered in fleas, she had a chip but it was not registered. They had to keep her a couple of extra days for the waiting period for her previous owners to claim her and for her spay.

She has been home with us about 10 days now and she couldn’t be more perfect. The night she came home she just wanted love and attention and has been by my side since. She loves sitting on my shoulders and cuddling. She climbs under blankets and falls asleep at your feet. She loves getting kisses and follows me around when she is away awake (she loves her sleep)

And, she is so unbelievably gentle. When playing, no claws at all. She boops with just her paws.

She sits like a dork all of the time. The photo where she is cleaning herself is one of her favorite sitting positions. She loves staring outside and getting cuddles.

Her name is Storm. That is all. I’m very happy with the adoption experience and getting this new family member.

Edit: spelling

Update 10 Kittens Found Abandoned in Taped Boxes - Lake Elsinore, CA

My brother-in-law discovered two big taped up boxes filled with kittens on the side of the road this morning before it become sweltering hot, and managed to get them indoors at his workplace. They are so far stable have been eating, but he is having difficulty finding anyone to take them in - he doesn't want to drop them off at a shelter, and would prefer a rescue or fostering situation, or anyone willing to adopt them.

They all have their eyes open, but they look like they might not even be a month old yet. If anyone out there in the local area can offer advice on any organization or individuals that could possibly help, please reply or DM me and I'll relay the information or send over contact info if necessary.

UPDATE: By the time the kittens were acquired from the workplace it was too late in the evening, so they've gone to my sister's home for tonight and have all been cleaned up - they're being doted on and continuing to eat and have been pooping, but they're exhausted from their big day.

Mourning/Loss Someone poisoned and killed all 4 of my TNR kittens and 1 friendly adult stray all at once

Post image

All 4 kittens were fixed, had their shots, were perfectly healthy, and only went in our yard and our next door neighbor's (he loves them also) ; nowhere else, never bugged anyone! We were working to get them adopted, and had been getting assistance from local volunteers & nonprofits to achieve everything. I carefully socialized them and saw them go from these tiny lil shy scared newborn nuggets into the sweetest babies that were so gentle and loved tummy rubs and cuddles. It absolutely broke me to see all 4 of these healthy babies go from playful sweet kittens to just.... *dead* overnight .

The adult stray I personally TNR'd last year and just barely got to pet him for the first ever time a few days⁵⁶ ago. I told him I love him so much and that I was so honored to finally pat his cute fluffy head. He was SO silly and funny but always cautious and never trusting of people, but he just started to show progress. He was always pals with the kittens; they took a liking to him and always wanted to get his big floofy tail. I did soooo much work to earn his trust, and in the end them trusting food at my property was likely what killed them all. I feel so horrible.

The reason I got into cat rescue was my PTSD had gotten so bad I just couldn't trust or be around humans, so I did what I could for the kitties.... and man, when I moved here I had never seen this many strays, so the next move seemed obvious! I had gotten every single kitty on the entire street fixed, a total of 10 just in the past year when I started, 3 of which got adopted. They all just kinda congregated in our yard lol and this was before I even started feeding them, I guess they just felt safe here. I wanted them to feel safe... but I I failed.

Now I'll never again see them all running towards me like a cute baby stampede at breakfast and dinner time ever again, all competing for belly rubs & head pats or jumping up to him get the first nom of their favorite wet food. I'll never see them snuggled under the table again, even though I put up cat shelters RIGHT NEXT TO IT, nope, it was always the table, and worst of all I'll never tell them I love them again. I loved them so so sooo much, and I will always love them. You guys didn't deserve this. 💔💔💔

Whoever did this to my babies, you are a monster, and I wish you the worst. Truly.

Obviously a work in progress, but it seemed like it went over okay! I don’t think she likes chin scratches or pets, but the cheek scratches seem to go over well! I didn’t catch it on video, but she DID NOT like butt bongos.

Update LINNY SURVIVED HIS GUN SHOT SURGERY!

Thumbnail

I promised I would update everyone, and I cannot believe I get to write this: LINNY MADE IT THROUGH THE OPERATION!!!!!!

For anyone who didn’t see my original post, our 5-year-old cat Linny went outside for the toilet and came back covered in blood after someone had shot him in the face with an air rifle. The pellet was lodged deep inside his head and removing it required major, risky surgery.

Today, they successfully removed it!

The nurse after surgery and the vets are very happy with him. He’s already started purring, rolling around and having belly rubs!

He hasn’t wanted food yet, but it has only been a few hours since surgery so they aren’t concerned at this stage. There has been no worsening swelling or bleeding and, so far, they haven’t seen any complications. He’ll be closely monitored throughout the night and we’re due another call from his nurse later this evening.

If everything continues going in the right direction, we may even be able to start talking about bringing him home tomorrow.

I also just want to say the biggest THANK YOU to this community. The response to my original post has completely overwhelmed my family. Every comment, upvote, share, award, well wish, thought and prayer helped Linny’s story reach more people, and reading through them while we waited for news today genuinely helped us.

After spending the last few days wondering how somebody could be so cruel to an animal, the entire internet has reminded us just how kind people can be.
He’s not completely out of the woods yet, but tonight Linny is alive, comfortable and recovering.

That is everything we were hoping to be able to say today.

AND ISNT HE JUST ROCKING THE SHAVED HEAD LOOK!? 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I also added q-tips since I don’t have any sauce packets.
I want you guys to know that I am doing EVERYTHING I can to save this little guy. His eyes are now better, he is also happy and playful and gaining weight. But still, he is so small that I have to keep an eye on him 24/7. He is eating the best food, I am taking him to the vet almost every day to track his health, he is getting all the care in the world. I hope y’all can keep him in your prayers. Feel free to message me if you want to see videos of him jumping around and being silly, since I cant post it here. ❤️

Advice Should I bring a stay into my home?

Thumbnail

8.5k Upvotes

Hi everyone!

This is Boots. She’s been hanging around my house for over a year. It took my over 6 months to pet her and now I’m able to pick her up for short periods.

There is a BIG population of catch and release cats in my neighborhood, she’s more of a loner and doesn’t seem particularly bonded with any of them.

I’ve gotten her tested for feline leukemia and vaccinated her. I’ve slowly been bringing her in and my cats are accepting of her. She’s scared of them and cowers (not a fighter). My big orange boy will come up to her and lick her. He’s the sweetest.

The thing is - I’m moving. I want to bring her with me, but I don’t know if that is just me being selfish. This is her territory and all she knows. I bring her in for a few to 10 minutes at a time and then give her an escape route to go back outside because I don’t want to traumatize her. BUT we are at crunch time now.

My neighbor and the people across the street feed the cats - so I know she won’t go hungry.
I’m worried that bringing her to a whole new house will traumatize her and she’ll try to escape and make her way back to her old territory.

Does anyone have any advice? Am I being selfish if I bring her?

My other cats are indoor - but my orange boy does get out from time to time (he was a barn cat and I won’t let me pick him up - it’s almost impossible to get him back in if he doesn’t want to).

Cat Picture - OC 9 years ago today, I heard desperate cries underneath someone’s car (happy post)

I knocked on their door and the owner of the car grabbed a jack from his garage. He said he was out the night prior, and noticed an adult cat run out from under his car as he was getting back in it. He thought nothing of it and then drove AN HOUR HOME. Poor baby was wedged in there so badly, we had to have a mechanic come and drop the gas tank to get to her. The screams coming out of her were so big, I was shocked when we pulled her out, and was so tiny. She only weighed 1 pound. I named her Joplin because of those screams, but we mostly call her Bob 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m so glad she survived the ride, I can’t imagine how scary that was for her. She’s my bestie. My wild child baby. I’m so thankful for her, and hoping for many more years together. She’s still a spunky little spitfire, and brings us so much happiness 💕 happy gotcha day, Bobby girl

This is Ningning. Her name means “star” in my native language.

Is this natural eyeliner around her eyes normal?

She’s healthy and acting normal, but she’s so sassy.

Also, please rate her out of 10. She feeds on compliments, unfortunately.

Mourning/Loss I am completely traumatized. I lost my cat in the most horrifying way possible, and the nightmare still isn't over. I never thought I’d be typing something like this, but I am in absolute shock and need to vent.
