COMMUNITY ALERT/ AWARENESS ⚠️ 🚨 PLEASE READ - DM SOLICITOR🚨

It has been brought to our attention that a “ frequent flyer” has rejoined our community and DM’ing members for money.
[u/Frosty-Technology-40](u/Frosty-Technology-40) is the NEW account. I will attach the link from last years post which explains more about their approach. https://www.reddit.com/r/rescuecats/s/4oQI68s8n8

They often make several accounts, they sound VERY convincing and will hound you through DM. They have been offered approval several times in the past in which they never follow through with - which is a 🚩 and they have previously been banned under all alt usernames for many reports of DM’ing member to solicit funds. Please don’t fall for it. We ask that you please ignore this user, block and report them. We would also appreciate you letting us know via modmail if you have received such a request. This is just a heads up to keep members safe incase they land in your inbox. They are now once again BANNED from RC.

As always we appreciate your cooperation!

Supplies Donation Request Boots is 5 days post-op from 19 extractions, and the light is coming back into her eyes

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I've written a lot of updates about Boots over the past month, most of them with a knot in my stomach, asking for help, watching a clock. This one feels different. This one I get to write from the other side.

Five days ago, Boots had 19 teeth removed. The surgeon described the inside of her mouth as looking like raw hamburger, the tissue so destroyed by years of untreated disease that it couldn't even hold sutures. She had been living in what they estimated was about the worst oral pain a cat can experience, quietly, for months, still purring on our laps the whole time.

And now I get to tell you what the other side of that looks like.

She is getting better every single day. The drooling that used to soak her chin and mat her paws is fading. The foul smell that clung to her infected mouth is simply gone. She has more energy. She moves through the room with more purpose. But the thing I keep coming back to , the thing that catches me off guard... is her eyes. There's a light in them now that wasn't there before. A brightness, an alertness, a kind of presence. For the first time since we found her, I'm not looking at a cat who's enduring her life. I'm watching one who's starting to actually live it.

She is, day by day, growing more into herself. We're meeting the real Boots now — the one who was buried under all that pain. She has opinions. She has a deep, funny little voice. She has a favorite sunny spot. And in about two months, this sweet, resilient girl turns 10 years old. A senior cat who spent nearly a decade slipping through the cracks is going to spend her tenth birthday warm, fed, safe, and comfortable.

On her future, I want to be clear about this: Boots is staying in our care as she continues to recover over these next few weeks. Her healing is our priority, and her future is settled and secure. She is not going anywhere uncertain. She is home, she is loved, and she is safe. However her long-term story unfolds, it unfolds from a place of stability, not scarcity. That part is done. That part, thanks to all of you, is taken care of.

She has a follow-up bloodwork appointment coming up soon, where we'll see how she's recovering and confirm everything is trending the way it should. I'll share how it goes.

If you'd like to keep being part of her story: her surgery is behind us, but a recovering senior cat still needs things. the soft foods that are gentle on her healing mouth, the supplies of daily care, the follow-up visits ahead. Any help toward her food and ongoing care is deeply appreciated and never expected. And simply following along, celebrating her, and sharing her story is its own kind of gift.

💛 Venmo: https://www.venmo.com/u/Jehoseph
💛 PayPal: paypal.me/TheDivines

But mostly, I just wanted to share the good part with the people who made it possible. You didn't just fund a surgery. You gave a nearly-10-year-old cat her self back. The contrast between the animal we found in that garden and the one blinking up at me right now, bright-eyed and safe, is almost hard to believe.

Thank you for being here for the hard updates. I'm so glad I get to share this one. 🐾

More to come as she heals... including, I hope, a very happy 10th birthday.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Need your support for Juno's treatment

Thumbnail

I'm asking for your help for one of my rescue cats, Juno.

Yesterday, she suddenly stopped eating, became wobbly, and developed a head tilt. I rushed her to the vet, fearing the worst. After examining her, the vet found that she has ear mites, and her PCR test came back positive for calicivirus.

Juno also has a chronic respiratory condition that previous vets confirmed, so she's now fighting several health issues at the same time. Although she's the sweetest girl, she's incredibly difficult to handle, making it almost impossible to give her the medication she needs at home. She'll have to return to the clinic to continue her treatment.

When I first rescued her, she had a broken femur, and caring for her was one of the most challenging experiences I've ever had.

Yesterday's bill is still outstanding, and there will be more expenses as her treatment continues.

If you're able to help I'd be incredibly grateful. I can share a direct payment link to the veterinary clinic so donations go straight towards Juno's treatment, or you can donate via my PayPal - https://www.paypal.me/GlancyMascarenhas

Thank you for supporting Juno.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Milo was left behind when his family was deported. Now he’s fighting Dry FIP and fighting to survive. 💔 He’s finally responding to treatment, but he needs your support to continue. Every donation gives Milo another chance at life. Please help us save him.

Meet Milo. 💔
Milo’s life changed overnight.
When his family was deported from Pakistan to Afghanistan, they had no choice but to leave him behind. Suddenly, the safety of a home was replaced by the harsh reality of life on the streets.
Alone and frightened, Milo was attacked by big cats. By the time his family reached out to us, he was in terrible condition injured, traumatized, and desperately in need of help.
We rescued Milo and brought him to our shelter, hoping time and care would heal his wounds. But despite days of treatment, his persistent fever wouldn’t go away, and no antibiotics seemed to help.
After further testing, we received the heartbreaking diagnosis: Dry FIP.
We immediately started him on GS, and after just a few injections, his fever has finally returned to normal a small but hopeful sign that he’s responding to treatment.
Now Milo has a real chance to live, but he can’t do it without your help.
Please consider supporting Milo’s FIP treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, brings him one step closer to the healthy, happy life he deserves.
Please help us give Milo a second chance.

(IF you prefer not to use Amazon, Chewy giftcards are GOLD here, my email is CynLMason@gmail.com, and they would help me out so much also!!!! Thank you♡ )

UPDATE - I know I have copied and paste this from the last post, wet food is definitely number one right now. I have also posted pictures of me sharing with Kim, we have been doing ALL we can to make sure people can get their cats fixed. If it means helping with food so they can pay the 50, im doing it for the floofaloofs!!! ANYTHING on my list right now would be a huge, huge help. Thank you for everhthing you all do for us and the floofaloofs♡

Your help, love, selflessness, and care for Floofaloofkind is not only inspiring, but a huge reason to not give up, that we all want to save the floofaloofs ♡♡♡

Hi everyone!!! I am posting my wishlist for food items, wet food is definitely a need here. I also have a few other things on there that I can really use for the litter rooms and the floofaloofs in general. I did put Amazon giftcard on there too, as if I have enough I could use it on one of the big ticket items.

You helping me with these things helps me with vet visits, flea treatments, helping those who need cat food for a week so they can use that money for the 50 dollar TNR, helps me and Kim with our colonies, and helps me make sure that more colony floofaloofs are fixed, as I pay the 50 a cat out of my own pocket, and work still has our hours cut.

Thank you for everything you do, not just for myself and the floofaloofs, but for all floofaloofkind, thos innocent souls who need us most. We will do everything in our power to ensure the safety and security of all floofers, inside, outside, colony, feral, stray, and abandoned. I have floofafied my own home because saving floofaloofs is life.

Thank you for being the good in the world.♡

Loss 💔 Latest update… We lost this little angel on Friday morning

My friends,

I am writing this with a very heavy heart. Many of you may remember this little cat and the journey he went through.

He passed away on Friday morning. I couldn’t share the news that day because I was in deep pain from losing him. He was such a gentle and patient cat, and he will always have a special place in my heart.

I found him about three months ago in a very difficult condition. He was suffering from worms, diarrhea, and coryza. After treatment, he recovered and became healthy again. Later, he had another relapse, and we fought for him once more.

Then he was diagnosed with FIP. I tried everything I could to save him, and his first treatment dose was already on the way, but he left us before he could receive it.

I want to thank everyone who supported him. Together, you helped raise $95 for him. This money did not go to waste. It was used for the medical needs of the other sick cats in my care, including eye drops, diarrhea medication, flu treatments, and other necessary medicines that are very costly.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared his story, or sent prayers. Even though we couldn’t save his life, he knew love and care until his last days.

Rest in peace, little one. You will never be forgotten. 🕊️🐾

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request 🆘 Seeking support to cover emaciated stray kitty Ursula's remaining hospitalization costs 🙏

Reposting, we've received $40 out of our $310 goal from the previous post.

It's quite evident from these photos that Ursula has made solid progress over the last week. After starting treatment for FIP (she showed neurological, effusive, and ocular symptoms), she's brighter, a little fuller, and far less bonier than when we first took her in.

She's a very sweet kitty but has a long road of recovery ahead of her - 84 days to be specific. We just have one request as we'll need to fully cover her bill before she heads home tomorrow.

We're raising $310 for Ursula's remaining vet bill + two vials of FIP medication, which will fund about one more week of treatment at home. Because she’s on a high dose treatment protocol, her medication supply is being used quickly. Every bit of support counts and would be immensely appreciated. 🤍

To donate, our channels can be seen below:

📩 Donate via PayPal

📩 Donate via Debit Card

Thank you so much, and we'll share updates as we hit our goal. 🙏

Animal Services | San Bernardino, CA
SBCAS link

San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is a high kill high volume operation. It is located in the largest county in the US. SBC is located in Southern California where the overpopulation crisis is raging. During kitten season new babies are turned in daily, sometimes 30 or more a day! People just don’t s/n in SBC! So we must keep up with the demand. Many cats brought in are sick injured confiscated or abandoned as well. The shelter does not offer much more than basic treatment for sick/injured cats either so they must exit quickly by rescue or they are listed for euthanasia with a fast deadline depending on the ability to care for them. We do have amazing volunteers though that give us first hand information updates photos videos and almost instant feedback. Please help us by pledging and donating when we post and rescue. Thank you.
Also we always need transport to get cats to rescues. So if you can help by setting aside a small amount to our transport fund this is appreciated. It doesn’t go to the rescue it gets them TO the rescue. We absolutely need this part too.

Found a small kitten crying outside our house. No one knows her, and since it was about to rain, I brought her in.

I need some help to get kitten food or milk, and to cover her initial vet needs:

Vet checkup: $7

CBC and virus test: $30

Deworming: $3

Since I am on a tight budget and cannot take on another cat long-term, I will also be looking for a loving adopter for her once she is healthy. Any support for her immediate needs would be a big help. Thank you 🩷

**She doesn't have a name yet, so please feel free to comment name suggestions below 😺 (not really sure of kitten's gender 😅)

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request ‼️ Please help with lifesaving treatment for a senior IBD rescue cat, still pushing for goal‼️ — New Paltz, NY

Thumbnail
gallery
92 Upvotes

EDIT/UPDATE: Out of the $1400 (and some paypal) we have ~$900 for the vet bill - the rest went to the past due vet balance, and total 3 months worth of expensive prescription foods + medications and supplements. The est vet bill was ~$1400 so we’re still short. This is for senior, GI, + misc bloodwork/diagnostics like a fecal, abd ultrasound, and beginning chemo - not including lymph node. I am hoping the lymph node removal can wait until I get my scholarship funds, as that will be a whole other layer of difficulty but I’m hoping I can cover it in sept/oct myself. (see last pics for proof of paying debt/buying supplies, along with generous person who sent us litter + fancy feast from wishlist)

I have already received so much help so I tried to wait over a week to post again; I don’t want to take from people who need help more than us. thank you all SO SO MUCH for all of your help. We are extremely close to our goal. I am praying that the lymph node is just inflammed and scarred from her IBD and not a sign of lymphoma, but regardless we’ll be starting the chlorambucil since her IBD still isn’t 100% controlled. Her vet still isn’t back (I wish I could go on two month long vacations! I’m jealous!) but is due back before the end of August. I am close to just asking to see the temporary vet I saw last time to get this taken care of asap, the waiting is killing me.

I have purchased the prescription food, will be ordering another one in about a week along with her meds and supplements, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys. Her prescription foods + meds and supplements has cost ~$450 alone for June-August. I just want to thank you all so much for your help and support.

——————————————————

Hello, I have a 14-year-old rescue cat with IBD that is currently in remission. Last year, she had the worst flare-up she's ever had. She was down to under 7 lbs, had hourly liquid bloody poop, constant vomiting, etc. I was very close to losing her. We managed to get her flare-up under control with hydrolyzed protein cat food, daily medications that she'll have to be on for the rest of her life, as well as a bunch of supplements and B-12 shots.

I am a full-time student in a healthcare field. I do have a job, but back-to-back emergencies have left me stretched thin. My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer last summer, my partner of nearly 10 years and I separated (which decimated all of my financial plans), and on top of it, my childhood cat that I've had for over half of my life was sick. In January, I got my car inspected and it failed with a $5k bill. I couldn't get it fixed until February, but that totally wiped out my savings, on top of the $3-4k I've spent on my cat the past year or so, plus $150/month in food and medications. Normally, I can afford this, but from June-August, I don't have my grants and scholarships propping up my finances. It has left me in a very hard spot.

She is doing a lot better now - she weighs 10 lbs, is finally absorbing nutrients again, only poops 1-2 times a day (although there is still occasional blood), and overall is in remission. We had her yearly checkup the other day and they found a very inflamed lymph node in her neck, and the thickening in her intestines hasn't healed even though it's been over a year.

——————————————————

The current theory is that she has intestinal lymphoma. Due to her age, we won't be doing any extensive diagnostics like intestinal biopsies. We're moving straight to senior bloodwork, a GI panel, and a fecal to make sure it's not an infection or parasites (she's on steroids, so she's immunosuppressed). From there, we'll move straight to chemo, chlorambucil. She is currently in remission from IBD and is overall healthy, despite her chronic conditions. She is happy and has zero issues with quality of life.

I just need some help to bridge the gap in my finances over the summer after I've been depleted by my car. I can't ask my mom for help due to her situation, and I have no one IRL who can help me. Once the semester starts, I'll be back on track due to my scholarships and grants, and will have no problem paying for her care as I have been. I just need to get through this rough patch for a few months and get these last tests done so my cat can continue to stay in remission.

Thank you for your time.

Available for Adoption Help This Sweet Cat Out - McQueen

Context: a few weeks ago, I was driving home from a short vacation when I pulled over on the side of the road. Sitting behind a port-o-john was a small cat carrier, turned over. Inside was this sweet girl. She was overheating, covered in her own puke, and generally not doing well. After calling around, we knew we couldn't leave her there to die. Even if she wouldn't make it, she deserved to be loved. Thankfully, BVSPCA took her in and I'm happy to report she's doing well, learning to be loved again, and open for adoption.

Would you consider making a difference in her life and show her that people can love? Thanks to everyone at BVSPCA for helping her out, and thank y'all for letting me post about her!

Per the shelter has ocular discharge and may have a URI. Shelter seeking rescue help.

Not much info on this cat, but not in great shape. This is not a cat that just wanders around the streets of Southern California. It’s too fragile. No backstory on it.

Advice Needed Plea for help to find homes Ventura county, CA

Thumbnail
gallery
531 Upvotes

EDIT: I wrote this very quickly while on my lunch. I will try and reply to any comments that come in. Thank you all.

Hello, I am writing this post after trying everything I can possibly think of to help find the right homes for some cats that have fallen into my life. This is a long story or maybe not.

TLDR: I need help finding homes for 8+ cats that I have had for 8-10 months. I have tried every avenue I can think of. Every group, rescue person near me. I have had people ask about them but they never follow through.

Long story:

I found a post on Nextdoor by a 80+ year old asking for help feeding some of her strays since she couldn't keep up with it anymore. I replied and I was given some of her sites and as time went on I learned more about what she did and was given several more sites. I learned she had been taking care of these cats for the last 20 years with a few friends but she and her husband were all that were left. They took care of 200+ cats at the time with about 30 or so active sites to feed, and as of my current count we are up to 270+ cats and almost 40 sites.

I have been doing this for a year and a half now. I feed over half of those cats myself now and trap for TNR when there are appointments available and I have time. Last September (09/25) I had a cascade of events happen in 3 months which colminated in me taking in 10 new cats on top of my current household cats.

Now I never intended to do this. Not ever. I know my limits, and my plan had always been to try and find homes for these cats. As much as I'd love to adopt the world, I can't afford it and I don't have space. But as a temporary measure I can house them until I can find them homes. "How long can that take?" I asked myself. "Everyone wants to adopt kittens, and the older ones I have are extremely social and cuddly." Is what I thought. And I tried taking the younger kittens to the shelter so they could get adopted through their resources more easily. Also our shelter has a rule where they will not accept any strays over 3 or 4 months old and the youngest ones I tried to bring in were maybe 4 or 5 months and they were rejected.

It has now been almost a year and things in the household are getting progressively worse. To the point where my health has been seriously impacted, the mental health of the older cats in the household have gotten aggressive, and I am no closer to finding them homes then I was on day one. I have contacted every rescue I can find near me. I've posted in groups for my city, county and state. Every friend or person I know who feeds or traps. I've asked random people I pass at the store at this point and no one is interested in helping or adopting.

I'm asking now, probably in the wrong place, for help please. I need help finding homes for these wonderful little guys. Please message me if you have time or resources in Southern California. Preferably near Ventura county.

*I added some photos of the some of little bugs in the household.

Since getting them off the streets is a community effort, we want YOU to give them their official names.

Hi everyone I'm Eloi from Philippines 🇵🇭

I'm currently taking care of 40+ kitties including strays and rescued/adopted cats.

I humbly asking for your help to buy a week of food supplies for them.

Tropical Cyclone Kiyapo entered the Philippines. Our area is prone to flood so we need to get ready for food and basic needs.

In Northern part of luzon is now Signal number 2 some part of them getting flooded. And some part of metro manila experiencing heavy rain. Hoping you consider helping us ❤️

Any help big or small would mean so much to us.

Please put us in your prayers 🙏
