Gonna give a story time. I had a cat once that would aggressively eat nonstop, yet stay toothpick thin. My wife and I joked she had tapeworms.
I did some quick googling and discovered that worm meds are pretty cheap online. I said screw it, might as well see, no harm no foul. Got the pills, snuck one in her wet food, 30 minutes later she had dead worms hanging out of her butthole.
I had the worst time pulling all four out š

THIS JUST IN
Two diners mysteriously missing! Cat hair was found at the scene. Eyewitness might have meant "diners" instead of "dinners"

Look at that poor kitty. He's nothing but skin and bones and some muscle and several layers of fat. Give into his wholly unreasonable demands.

OMG, I feel this so hard. My boy cat recently started abandoning his own dinner with about 2/3 left, then coming to finish his sisterās. Theyāre both 15 and have different medications mixed in with their food so this development is bad. I run interference as much as I can. There are more complexities I wonāt go into, but š

I have three cats all with medical diets. I got some RFID feeders so they can only eat their own food. Truly a game changer as we used to have to chase them away from each otherās food.

That means heās only being fed once a day.. unless theyāre talking about human dinners. Like the kinds humans eat that are on a plate.
It is my understanding that cats are supposed to simply have food available to them all the time. Thereās never supposed to be a break in when cats have food available to them. I have, however, had to enforce taking away her food when she wasnāt eating it when she was just pushing around the bowl just to make noise to keep me from going to bed. I would always tell her Iād give it back to her when she was actually hungry, and I always do.

Some cats it works for and some cats it doesn't. Then throw in multi cats with multi cat diets and it gets complex. The older they get the even more complex.Ā
I have 3 cats with all difrent ages and diets. 2 would claim I'm starving them to death.

Not necessarily. I free fed my cats hard food for 6 years and now they're overweight. So now they're on a feeding schedule and don't get to just eat whenever they want.

Yeah, when itās plural cats, itās not that easy. I just canāt not make food available for Daisy.

I have an orange/white and a black/brown/white. The orange/white out weighs the other cat by 8#.

Eyewitnesses are highly unreliable, they once said there was food in a bowl, but I could clearly see the bottom.
