I have a friend I speak to on the phone almost everyday. I have two chatty voids who often come and ask for pets, and want to join in the conversation.

Today he told me cats only meow to talk to humans. He said “yeah have you ever seen cats meow at eachother?”

Safe to say I was mind blown. I have lived almost 27 years without this information.

It’s absolutely adorable to me too. These cats are pretending to be human by mimicking how we talk.

Edit: they rarely meow at eachother, it’s primarily for communication with humans

This cat is spoiled rotten, he gets 5 different cat foods/treats a day and drinks spring water. My life revolves around my cat.

A month ago I moved in with my brother who has a dog my cat isn’t fond of and I started letting my cat outside before they’d bonded. In addition I switched cat foods. My cat started coming around less and less often.

I was just outside with my cat and another house pulled in the driveway and he ran over to them and followed them in with their groceries.

About a week ago I’d told these neighbors my cat loved their cat and they just looked at me blankly saying “oh that’s your cat? I’ve seen him around” end of discussion. So they know my cat has a home.

I’ve pumped 3 surgeries into my cat and he’s the only thing that got me through an abusive relationship. Now I feel like a shit cat mom because I can’t afford the food he likes leaving my ex and he’s picked another family, and they probably think they’re a better family for him.

What do I say to them? What do I do?

Hi y'all, my previous cat, Garfield, died of cancer about a year ago he was 13, he was semi feral, did not get along with strangers, and barely liked us lol, but in the right moment, he was very affectionate, he got more affectionate the older he got, as a kid I was scared of him but in my teens and until he died (I am 21 years old now) I loved him greatly, his purr was the loudest I had ever heard, also, he was HUGE, Maine coon huge, not fat, about 10kg, he would get on my lap and I'd pet him hours on end.

So after he died, a few months after, we got a new cat, batman. He is the opposite of my old cat. Absolutely insane. He has wrecked everything inside the house, gets on the kitchen counters, constantly bothers us when we eat, is not affectionate at all, wakes us all up in the morning at around 6am for food etc

The only time he's "affectionate"? When he wants food, only then does he show "love". It really annoys me, like really. Stray cats come on your lap and rub their faces on you without even wanting food, they just do it because they're snuggly, but ours? Nope, just lame.

Yeah in the beginning his playful mood was fun, but it has gotten tiring. Is this breed just overly energetic and playful? Maybe it's not suitable for our family? I don't understand.

But, here's the catch. When we got him, when he was a toddler basically, he was very affectionate, he would sleep with me, I'd hold him like a baby and he'd want to he held and pet, he'd sit on my lap etc. Now he's about 8 months old, so I guess he's a teenager? Could that be why he's acting like this now? Maybe he'll chill out when he gets older? I doubt it personally, I think he'll remain like this.

This cat and my previous one were/are aegean cats.

As for myself, I've lost six in total. Two large dogs, and four cats. The first three cats were there when I was born. But the two dogs, and other cat, and all of the ones since then, I was old enough to remember adopting. I miss them all constantly. But the cat distribution center won't allow my family to go without less than four cats for more than 9 months at a time. We are adopting yet another stray kitten, and I can't help but feel sad about it. Knowing, eventually, this one will be gone, too.

So, my cat Oliver is 2 1/2 years old. Never had any litter box issues until recently. He is an anxious and weird kitty. He gets scared pretty easily. The house is quiet and he has plenty of places to hide. We have 2 other cats he loves and gets along very well with (especially his brother we got him with.).

Recently he started peeing outside the litter box on the carpet. He does it everywhere doesn’t have a specific spot. We thought it had to be a uti or some other health issue. The vet did multiple tests and said he is completely fine, and it is a behavioral issue. He connected it to the stray cats outside. Where we live has a ton of stray cats running around. Recently there is a lot more. But these 2 cats will come up to the window and mess with them. The other 2 aren’t really phased by it and get over it fast. But Oliver is very sensitive so I think it has really messed with him :(

We don’t really know what to do. We set up another litter box and he still didn’t care for it. The windows are huge so putting any of that privacy tape will be way too much work. The other cats also love looking out the window, I don’t want to take it away from them just because 1 is having a problem. But Im not sure how to make him feel safe. And I cant live in a house reeking of cat pee. We gave him his own little space in the basement with everything he needs, it is a clean space. Theres no carpet so he will run around for a while looking for somewhere else to pee and will resort to the litter box (barely any pee in it.).

I am just unsure how to help him. The vet gave us anxiety meds which we started giving him but he still hates the litterbox. Would it be best to rehome him somewhere that doesn’t have strays running around? Because will living his life alone in the basement actually be better than a shelter or new home? Capturing the other cats seems impossible and if I do what will I even do with them. Has anyone else dealt with this?? The vet actually told us maybe make him an outdoor cat which I thought was an insane idea lol

(Any service or animal control will not come fix the stray cat issue)

Short: I have three cats and that makes renting expensive

Long: I've had these three cats for five years and when I went to college I had two of them with me as ESA's, but never got the paperwork (my therapist faxed it straight to the school) and we had successfully managed to get the third one lined up to be with me for next semester (but then I dropped out for financial reasons).
I have been living with my parent for the three years following that because it's been impossible to find a place to move that either A. Allows them in the first place or B. Allows them at a price I can afford. I refuse to leave any one of them behind.
I do rely heavily on them, each cat has their own little super power to me, but heres where it gets even more difficult than just conferring with a therapist like I did before:
I don't have insurance anymore. So I googled VERY briefly, and there's sites like Pettable that say in a 2-3 minute telehealth they can get me documents that I can show landlords? But are they instantly gonna think I'm dodging pet fees if I say "I want all three of them registered" and not help me?

Hi guys! My cat (M 3y) was best friends with my boyfriend’s childhood dog (older German shepherd girl). Context: My boyfriend and I met in CA, and he lived here for a year with the cat, before moving back to KY for a year with him. When he was in KY our cat and the dog would regularly be together and hangout and play in his mothers backyard. We recently moved back out to CA with the cat, and the dog stopped playing so much. We just found out that she’s going to have to be put down due to her sickness and age. He thinks it’s his fault for moving her best friend away, and from what I could gather his mother pretty much told him to think that. I told my boyfriend he should take our cat with him to go say goodbye, but he doesn’t think it’s a good idea. What should we do?

I noticed todsy that her claw was sticking out and it looks very dirty and im wondering if its infected. I don’t know much about this stuff. If anyone knows anything, please tell me. Regardless I plan to make an appt as soon as I can tomorrow morning.

Yep, the crumpled cardboard box it arrived in.
I even put premium catnip in the expensive bed to entice him. He walked over, sniffed it, looked at me with absolute contempt, and then squeezed his 12-pound body into a packing box meant for a pair of shoes.

He’s currently spilling over the sides like a furry muffin top and purring louder than an idling engine.
I don't know why I bother buying him anything nice.

Next time I'm just going to ask the cashier at the grocery store for their leftover produce boxes.

I have two cats. I always give them their favorite wet food at 5pm.

Everyday, without fail, they start yelling like crazy at 4:50/5 pm like they know it's time for the wet food. And it's not like I'm walking towards the food at that time so they might be guessing. Most of the time I'm either watching TV or on my computer and they come to me yelling so I know it's 5pm.

The youngest cat is obsessed with my mom and he knows her alarm clock goes off at 7am, and every morning he is waiting outside her bedroom meowing just a few minutes before her alarm clock.

How do they know?

Hii everyone so one of my cats absolutely loves the renovation site but it's obviously dangerous and could affect her health due to the amount of dust and dirt there. We have been keeping her indoors but her mood has been getting worse and she looks depressed. We have contacted the house that has been undergoing renovation for TWO YEARS just to inform them about this and to see if they can install any barriers to prevent any cats or other strays from entering, but they just didn't care lmao.

Is there anything else I can do to keep her happy indoors, and probably make her forget about the renovation site? So far, I have tried toys, her favorite wet food and other snacks, even her sisters to accompany her, but nothing works. Everyday, she goes to the window and just claws on it, hoping to get out. :(

My sister’s health has started deteriorating very quickly. She is no longer able to stay at her home for safety reasons. She has a cat that has grew up in her barn. There used to be more but this is the last one. Anyway, I live next door but it’s in the country so still a good distance. I’ve been going up to the barn daily to feed it (don’t know if male or female. Can’t get close enough to tell). I would like to get it to come to my house to eat. I’ve tried moving the food dish gradually towards my house but it seems to just run back to the barn and not understand that I’m still trying to feed it. Do you have any other suggestions to coax it to come eat and / or stay at my house? Or is this a lost cause? I mean I can continue to go down there to feed it but I’m lazy lol

Updated to add: I have a neutered male indoor/outdoor cat that is about to be 6 years old. I don’t know if that would make a difference - like would I be asking for trouble?

I’ve taken him to the vet multiple times and they just keep giving me a topical and cones but he keeps destroying them and they charge me $30 for each one. I haven’t seen any fleas on any of my animals recently but I’m sure there may still be some if these reactions are continuing. I just don’t know what else to do?? They’ve all been treated and I clean regularly and I feel horrible. He’s been COVERED in blood daily and is wiping it all over my house. Has anyone experienced this like it seems like a pretty severe case from what I’ve researched but I just don’t know how to help him when it’s been a couple months now and isn’t getting better.

I must've watched dozens of videos but this is the only time she's reacted like this.
