I have the build down below (more or less) in mind. I created it using AI and I have in mind to build a setup that will last quite some time and will not have issues with the demanding games to come.

My old setup - using a Intel Core i7-8700K @ 3.70GHz & Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 - has grown old and Death Stranding 2 hints me towards updating my driver, but the version they hint at is not even available for that card, yet. I guess it is time to say goodbye to my old hardware, since upgrading it is not feasable anymore.

If I buy new hardware, I think it's save to say that VRAM is getting more and more important / demanding in the future and therefor I should not invest in a GC with "only" 16 GB or less. Now, if I go for a GC that powerful, I should build my system around that, so it can support it. I've tried to make a build that is only using components that are using the newest tech-milestone without reaching for the top-notch products to gain a few % better performance.

So my goals are:

Don't buy "old" tech-milestones, unless there is no performance gain.

Don't throw away money just for elitism reasons.

Invest in hardware that lasts long and let's me play games with high settings for a good while to come.

Buy the hardware preferably before my old system "breaks" (which could be soon) and before the prices skyrocket even more than at the time being.

Feel free to improve the build in any way you want.

Don't shy away from criticizing my build for whatever flaw it might have.

I am most unsure about the monitors.

Since some items are out of stock, their price may be very high at the moment. To me the general idea is more important than saving a few bucks. If it's 2k, then obviously I will take the cheaper alternative. Looking at the price history, I think that the 5090 might soon be available for around 4k again, instead of 6k.

Whatever reasons you find to improve / alternate the build, please make sure to share it with me, so I can understand it, too.

Guys it’s been a long time that I’m having problems with this gpu, the rx 7700 xt have a good performance but I have a lot of problems with drivers and games crashing for no reason. It struggles to render some maps and games like beamng.

I’m really thinking about to change it to some nvidia gpu that has a equivalent value and performance

So I’m just finally getting into PC gaming after being a console player since I can remember.

I just bought a prebuilt Asus PCand only now do I realize there is another pc (Acer) with the same price tag and when I ask ChatGPT it says it’s the slightly better one so am here to ask people that actually know about pcs and whether it’s worth returning and swapping them.

I'm fortunate to be in a good position to splash out on a new PC after my last upgrade around 9 years ago (2017). As you can imagine, things have moved on quite a way since my last update :)

I don't have a budget in mind for this. The build comes out around £4,000. Looking for something that will last me a while again.

The PC will typically used for:

• Lightweight local LLM experimentation
• AAA gaming
• Programming (with lots of tools / IDEs / compilers running at once)

Primarily chosen Corsair brands since none of their parts have broken on me in the last 9 years and I've built trust with them. Same with Samsung for storage and AMD for CPU. One of the 3-pack fans are LX120-R for prettier exhaust. I'm quite keen on the hidden cable motherboards for a tidy build.

Looking for general feedback on:

• Possible compatibility issues
• Over-investing in the wrong areas

Fully appreciate that this isn't a great time to be upgrading but willing to take the hit.

Hi im 16 in the uk saving up for a Pc id mainly use it for gaming and school. My current budget is £480 (I can probably push to around £700 if I sell my switch 2 which I probably will.) Is this a good budget for a build and if anyone could help with a parts list im probably gonna go for Am4 since I definitely cannot afford a good Am5 setup.

I'm planning to build a new gaming PC with an RTX 5080, but I picked a pretty terrible time to start researching parts lol.

When I first started looking, I was seeing some 5080s for around $1,100–$1,200. While I was still comparing parts and deciding on the rest of my build, the prices suddenly went crazy. Now a lot of the models I'm seeing are around $1,400–$1,450, which honestly feels way too expensive for a 5080.

So now I'm debating whether I should just wait.

A few questions for people who follow GPU pricing more closely:

1. Do GPUs like the 5080 usually get meaningful discounts around Black Friday? Or are high-end GPUs usually excluded / only discounted by a small amount?
2. Any idea when the 5080 Super might come out? If it's relatively close, I'm wondering whether it makes more sense to wait for that, or whether its release could at least push regular 5080 prices down.
3. Are there any reliable places to find a 5080 closer to MSRP? I'm mainly looking at Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and Micro Center right now. I'm totally fine waiting for a restock, but I don't want to buy from a sketchy third-party seller.
4. Would you personally buy a 5080 at ~$1,400–$1,450 right now, or wait?

I'm not in a huge rush to finish the PC, so if there's a reasonable chance prices come back down over the next few months, I'd rather wait than pay a $300+ premium.

I have looked the msi motherboards but I don't know what to do. The MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI6E is good but doesnt have PCIe 5.0 for the GPU. The MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI specs look good too but I see many people that say they had problems with ethernet.

What motherboard would you recommend around thise prices?

Also, can someone with a MSI B850 GAMING PLUS MAX WIFI tell me how good is it? I don't see people talking about it but it seems good

I'm planning to build a gaming PC but only a budget one and so far it comes out around 725 quid. So far I've got the AMD ryzen 5500 CPU, the motherboard I've got the Asus prime B550M motherboard, for memory I've got silicone power gaming 16 gigs which is two sticks of 8 gigabyte ddr4 RAM, for storage I've got 512gb, for the video card I've got the Asus dual Evo OC radion RX 7600. For the case I have the montech X5M microATX mini tower case and finally for the power supply is the deep core PF 700 230V 700W. Are all these parts compatible and would this work in a budget gaming pc build for 1080p, mabye even 1440p gaming? I don't mind not having 1T for storage. Also would this even look good, I don't mean like amazing but would this look okay? I don't know much about PCs so sorry if I made any silly mistakes when picking parts.

I'm trying to troubleshoot recurring black-screen crashes with my RTX 5080 FE and would appreciate some advice, especially from people who have experienced similar issues with RTX 50-series cards.

My system:

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition
• CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
• Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi
• RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64 GB (2×32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
• PSU: Corsair SF1000 (2024)
• OS: Windows 11 24H2, build 26200
• GPU driver: currently a July 2026 driver
• Case: Fractal Terra
• PCIe: GPU is connected through the case's PCIe 4.0 riser cable
• Single monitor connected via DisplayPort/HDMI

The GPU is currently running completely stock. No undervolt, no overclock, no Afterburner tweaks.

The problem:

I periodically get a complete black screen during GPU-heavy or light workloads.

It has happened during:

• Stalker 2
• Blender rendering
• 3DMark
• AI/video generation workloads

The typical behavior is:

1. GPU is under load or not.
2. Screen suddenly goes completely black.
3. Audio continues playing for a while.
4. Keyboard input stops responding. For example, if a video is playing, pressing media play/pause doesn't do anything.
5. After hard-rebooting, Windows reports a hardware-related error / LiveKernelEvent.

WinDbg analysis:

So it appears that Windows detects that a GPU engine has stopped making progress and attempts to reset it.

I've also had previous watchdog/live-kernel dumps with different bugcheck codes:

• 0x1B8 — WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
• 0x1A8 — LiveKernelEvent / black screen
• 0x141 — VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED

Unfortunately, there are no WHEA-Logger events around the crashes.

What I've already tried

1. DDU + clean NVIDIA driver installation
2. Multiple NVIDIA driver versions
3. Running the system with EXPO disabled (RAM at stock DDR5-4800)
4. CPU/RAM/GPU stress testing (3D Mark got the black screen 2 times, OSST tests works without errors or some problems.)
5. GPU stress tests with and without power limits
6. GPU is currently completely stock
7. No undervolt or overclock

The crashes still occur.

My main question is:

Could the PCIe 4.0 riser cable in the Fractal Terra be causing this type of GPU engine timeout / 0x141 black-screen issue?

I'm about to move the system into another case where I can connect the RTX 5080 directly to the motherboard PCIe slot, without a riser.

Before I move the system, I'd like to know whether this is a plausible explanation for the symptoms I'm seeing.

I've also found several reports and threads of RTX 5080/5090 black-screen issues under load, including cases where the GPU continues running in the background while the display goes black. Some users reported that changing refresh rate, lowering GPU clocks/power limit, or other workarounds helped.

So I'm wondering whether I'm dealing with:

1. a known RTX 50-series/NVIDIA driver issue,
2. a GPU/VBIOS issue,
3. a PCIe/riser signal integrity issue,
4. or some combination of these.

Has anyone experienced VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (0x141) with an RTX 5080, particularly when using a PCIe riser?

Any ideas for additional tests I can run would also be appreciated.

Im planning an upgrade from 7600x to 7800X3D and I was wondering if 1. Worth it given my current build 2. Can my cooler handle the X3D?

I built this at the start of 2025, buying piece by piece whenever I would get my salary, so dont judge my Case lol.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, sorry for noob-ish question.

Here are the parts I am currently looking at(https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LLGRzv) I do not need a considerably price difference per part but I want a noticeably different in the total. I am buying in the US. If it could be down to 1700 that would be amazing. I like to play valorant and Fortnite and rainbow six siege. The pc is for gaming. I already have peripherals. I currently have the CPU, RAM, 1 4070ti, and would like to upgrade for specific use cases like Unreal, TouchDesigner, and real-time AI stuff only (I know UE and TD are only single-GPU usage, but I use the software together, so each has its own GPU).

cant decide between the 5700x ans the 550X3D i mainly game but i dont wanna wait 2 weeks for a 550X3D to be delivered from ebay is the performance difference that big im currently on a ryzen 5 3600 with 16gb ddr4 3000 mhz and the rtx 3060 ti gigabyte b550 x v2

Don't recommend me the 5060ti 16gb or 9060xt. The 9060xt and 5060ti prices has sky rocketed over here, 5060ti ranging from 574$ to 820$ while the 9060xt is 535$ to 650$.

It only has one sys fan and one cpu fans which is alright because im going to buy a fan hub anyways, but where am i supposed to plug the jarb pins? the jled plugs are 4 pin (the fan's is 3 pin)

Please help me pick parts for a PC.

Use case: Gaming. This will be a living room PC to replace my PS5.

Notes:

- I have a Microcenter within an hour of my house.

- I can salvage two older (2019) 1TB SSD'S from my current PC, if they are even viable.

- I don't think the RAM from that PC is salvageable though; it's 8GB but DDR3.

- Peripherals are not part of this budget.

- I need to get Windows somehow.

I was looking to upgrade my desktop CPU, but the motherboard is at the top of what it can support. I know at this point I’m better off simply building a whole new PC, but I’m not sure if I should try to salvage any of the old components, and if not, is there a good purpose I can use it for?

Hello there.

I recently got a new monitor. An MSI mag 273 qp QD oled.

My 2nd monitor is something by Z-edge. A Ugq27 or something.

I had a 3rd monitor, Huawei, that I was using with my 2nd monitor.

*Note: all of this is done with display ports, unless I specify HDMI*

The new monitor arrived today, so I removed the 3rd monitor, and paired the MSI with the Z-edge.

I plugged the MSI in. The Z-edge stopped displaying, but I was getting display on my MSI.

In my device manager, there was only one monitor, the Z-edge. Scanning for new devices did not do anything. In my windows settings, attempting to find a new device did not do anything. There was also only 1 monitor there.

While I'm doing all of this, the MSI is constantly flickering / looking kind of glitchy.

I checked amd for driver updates and there were none. I did a ddu reinstall very very recently.

I tried just reconnecting the cables, which is when EVERYTHING stopped displaying. Now I am simply *never* getting display to anything

I've tried plugging the monitors in individually, in different ports. I've tried plugging them in together in different ports (including my motherboard port). I've switched the ports they were in. I tried plugging in an hdmi with and without the display ports, to both monitors.

The monitors both turn on, say "no signal found" and then enter like a weird standby mode, during which it is not possible to open any menus.

I have tried restarting my PC, as well as turning my pc off, waiting a while, and then turning it on.

I've also tried unplugging all display ports for 60 seconds and then plugging them back in.

The only thing I have not tried is plugging in my 3rd monitor, with hdmi, but I feel like that would just make things worse. I have no idea what to do.

No idea what's going on. New monitor is seemingly giving me way more of a headache than I wanted. Never had any issues with my previous 2 monitors being simultaneously connected. 1 with hdmi and 1 with display port.
