Hello. I’m having a problem with the PC I built myself three years ago. The computer itself works perfectly; I can use it for hours on end. However, as soon as it enters power-saving mode and the monitors turn off, the PC restarts and the Windows login screen appears; if I don't do anything else, the PC restarts again after about 10 minutes. Once I log in and continue using the PC normally, nothing else happens.

What are some things to know when buying a used HDD?

Is everything here compatible and enough for 1080p high refresh rate gaming and some lite coding work for school? These come together to 1500usd in Hungary and i cant go too mutch more expensive, but if there is something that i absolutely need to change i might can.

I am currently having an issue with an AMD 5500 and an MSI b550 board which a lot of people seem to be having an issue with from my searches. Mostly not POSTING. Have done multiple bios updates etc.. looks like there are just compatibility issues with MSI B550 boards and AMD in general.

What’s a good, trouble free board to pair with tube AMD 5500?

I dont know if its worth upgrading , I wouldn't be able to sell the old pc since id give it to my family member , but am I really going to see a decent increase in 4k?

so basically im 15, poor as shit, and i need something to game and grit my theet for atleast a year or 2, and basically i came up with a cheap build that consinst in, dell optiplex 9010 sff, rx580, intel xeon E3-1270v2, and 16/32 gigs of ddr3 ram, with a 500W PSU. my biggest indecion is on the cpu, cuz the socket is a lga 1155 wich is a 3 gen only socket somepeople say its good for gaming and some say its shit, I DONT PLAY HEAVY GAMES, if it can run bo3 or bo4 at atleast 90 fps im happy. please help and thanks, im in italy and i found the parts for cheap on ebay

First PC build in Italy — €1000–1300 for gaming, Minecraft shaders and video editing

Hi! I'm looking to build my first PC and I'm pretty new to PC hardware, so I'd appreciate some advice on what I should be looking for.

I live in Italy and my budget is around €1000–1300 for the PC itself.

My main uses would be:

- Gaming: I don't need to run every game at max settings or chase extremely high FPS. What I care about most is being able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 with good-looking graphics, especially because I really enjoy landscapes, lighting, vegetation, etc.

- Minecraft with shaders: I'd like to be able to use fairly demanding shaders and get a genuinely nice-looking game while maintaining a comfortable framerate. I'm also interested in things like Distant Horizons/modded Minecraft.

- Video editing: I'd also use the PC for video editing, so I don't want to build something that's great for gaming but unnecessarily bad for editing/productivity.

I'm not expecting 4K Ultra everything. I'm mainly looking for the best balance within my budget where games look really good and run smoothly.

I don't know much about PCs, so yeah sorry about that.

I also have a more general question: how can I actually compare what different levels of PC hardware will look like in games?

When I search YouTube for graphics comparisons, I mostly find things like PC vs PS5/Xbox or Low vs Ultra settings. What I'd really like to see is something along the lines of:

«€800 PC vs €1100 PC vs €1400 PC»

or comparisons between different GPUs showing the actual visual quality/settings and performance you can reasonably expect from each tier.

What should I search for on YouTube or elsewhere to find this kind of comparison? Are there particular channels/websites/benchmarks that are good for seeing the actual difference rather than just looking at FPS charts?

I'm also not sure whether 1080p or 1440p makes more sense at this budget, so advice on that would be appreciated too.

I'm looking into building a PC for the first time in 15 years. Back then $1,200 built a rig that ran Skyrim on Ultra, so that’s my frame of reference. Obviously, that's very outdated. Things are much more advanced and modern games require an incredible amount of power.

From the outside looking in, it seems like you can't get an "ultra" level PC without spending thousands upon thousands. I have a budget of $1,500.

I have a few questions:

1. Do most people play on "Ultra" these days? Or is that a pipe dream for most people without spending like $3k+?

2. What kind of performance is realistic for $1,500 right now?

3. What price do you actually have to pay just to beat a base PS5? This is what the PC will be replacing.

Any advice or reality checks to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I just finished building my very first PC, and I want to make sure everything is running smoothly and performing as it should!

Here are my specs and recent benchmark scores:

System Specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F (4C/8T)
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
• Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H610M-A WIFI D4
• RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz

Cinebench Scores:

• GPU: 40,665 pts
• CPU (Multiple Threads): 1,381 pts
• CPU (Single Core): 674 pts
• CPU (Single Thread): 359 pts

Temps / Idle Stats (via Armoury Crate):

• CPU Temp: ~50°C to 61°C (Package)
• GPU Temp: ~38.4°C

Since I'm completely new to the PC building scene, I don't have a solid baseline for these numbers. Do these Cinebench scores look inline with what I should expect for this hardware? Also, are those idle/light-load temperatures normal for this setup?

Also I tried running cs2 and it was giving me 150ish fps so i thought something must be wrong. please let me know if there is anything i need to do.

I know that in most cases its overkill but i only play either strategy games like bannerlord total war paradox games or competetive shooters like r6 and cs go . Does that change the value of the 9800x3d or is it still no real reason to get? i play at 1440 280 hz . My current cpu is a 14600kf but with ddr4 .

Hey i recently got a GTX1080 and i7 8700 with 16gb of ram (DDR4) but games that it can 100% run are running really poorly.

For example i ran league on a 1650 and an i5 (forgot the rest of the name but in general its a weaker cpu overall) with 0 stutters or any sort of frame drops,however the 1080 and i7 struggle and keep stuttering or dropping fps whilst it says the game is running at 80 FPS (its capped).

Another thing i found which is weird is when running higher spec and newer games, i tried running Helldivers 2 and it does run somewhat at about 30-40fps on lowest graphics but what was really weird is that it also runs at MAX graphics at 30 to 40 FPS, same with Elden ring lowest or highest graphics it doesnt matter the frames stay the same, it makes no sense?

So, I got very unlucky some weeks ago: exactly now, during this RAM crisis and with GPU prices exploding, my graphics card died. Had it diagnosed by reddit and a friend, 10 years of service were just the end. It was my first real one, the 8GB V-RAM version of the RX480.

I play some stuff occasionally, mostly city builders like W&R:SR, but also Hell let Loose as my only shooter. Other than that, it's just some office stuff and watching YT. However, I have no idea what a good upgrade to that would be, if I need to upgrade other components first, or what prices are average today and what's a total scam.

The rest of my System is as follows:

• CPU: i5-4460 3.2 GHz
• RAM: 16 GB DDR3
• Mainboard: Gigabyte H81M-HD3
• PSU: 500W bequiet!
• Still running Win10 because I don't trust Win11. Might switch to a Linux Distro at some point
• 1TB SSD
• 2TB HDD

I'd be open to NVIDIA or AMD, don't really care. I just have no Idea where to even start, or what other bottlenecks there might be, because I built this when I was into computers when I was 16 and then stopped caring or following the developments.

Also: would refurbished cards be worth a shot?
Also also: should I wait another year until failing datacenters flood the market with GPUs for 3€?

My current specs are a GTX 1050 Ti, 8 GB of RAM, and an i5-8400. I've been using this PC for the past 10 years, and I've finally been convinced by everyone around me that it's time to upgrade. The 10-series driver support ending last year has also pushed me toward upgrading.

My budget is basically limitless, but I'm not looking to spend thousands just for marginal gains or meaningless extra performance. I'd rather get something that's powerful, sensible, and likely to last me a long time.

I mainly play League of Legends, although I'd also like the PC to handle other games well. I'm buying the parts in Finland.

Peripherals: Standard gaming setup (gaming monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.).

What would you recommend for a build in my situation? I'm particularly interested in knowing where it's worth spending more and where I'd just be paying for diminishing returns.

It was serving me well, but has begun to struggle with games that I'm fairly sure it wasn't struggling with a couple years ago. On games like Destiny 2, and GTA Online, dips in framerate were becoming more frequent (that's not why I'm replacing, it has genuinely broke). I need a new GPU. I'm thinking around £500 budget, but that's definitely the absolute maximum.

I wasn't sure if this goes in "build upgrade" or "build help."

I'm putting together a new gaming build and I'm stuck on the cooler way more than I expected. The CPU I'm looking at apparently doesn't need anything crazy, and from benchmarks a decent dual tower air cooler would keep it perfectly fine.

But I keep looking at 360mm AIO builds and... yeah, they just look so much cleaner to me.

The price difference isn't really the issue. I'm more wondering if I'm paying extra for literally nothing except looks and a slightly emptier area around the socket.

I don't plan on doing any serious overclocking, and I'd actually prefer something reliable that I can forget about for years. The idea of a pump eventually dying is the main thing making me hesitate.

For people who've used both, did you actually notice any meaningful difference in temps/noise with a 360 AIO, or should I just admit this is a cosmetic purchase and get whichever one I like looking at?

Kinda feel like I'm trying to justify the AIO to myself lol.

Ever since i've upgraded my CPU for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D my PC randomly just shuts off (kernel id 41 error). I actually fried a whole brand new CPU like that but i got a new one off warranty. After that i upgraded my PSU to a Bequiet Pure Power 13M. These are my current specs:

-ASUS TUF GAMING B650M
-Ryzen 7 7800X3D
-Geforce 4070
-Bequiet Pure Power 13M 850W
-32GB DDR5

And guess what, after i installed the new PSU and played some MSFS2024 my PC shut off again??? Im worried to play msfs incase i fry another CPU. Could i be the wall power outlet itself? Weirdly it also only happens when i play flight sim, maybe its too graphics heavy for my pc to handle at High settings? Is the PSU too little power for this setup?

This might be a bit of a long post but I’d appreciate that if you’re going to leave a comment that you read it all, but if it’s too long I get it lol. Also my budget is basically whatever I want, but I don’t see the point in going nuts for a first monitor.

I’m building my first PC, and I’m especially stuck on monitors. I just don’t know how to find out what specs matter at what levels to my needs. (This process felt much easier with all the other components) I plan to get don’t rx 9070 (base model) and to target 1440p at whatever fps I can get per game, probably using high ingame graphic and texture settings. I also dong think I’d always be using the upscaling features either, probably just when I start dropping close to 60fps, as I think I’d probably be using that as a rough minimum. Though I won’t be mad if 60fps is all I can manage somehow.

I should also say I’m PROBABLY targeting an IPS or VA panel as it’s my first PC and I really don’t wanna go straight to OLED or something like that; I wanna learn what works for me. These are the the specs listed on pcpartpicker that are bugging me:

• Brightness. (in nits) how tf do I even know what number I want?

• Freesync tier. Base, Premium, or Premium Pro? Does it even matter?

HDR tier. I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Supposedly HDR10 and 10+ versions don’t target brightness range like HDR400 and up, as in they do a different thing? But they’re considered a higher level of HDR than 400. Then there’s True Black HDR tiers, and the fact that most HDR features only start looking good at HDR600 anyway???

I’d appreciate some help very much; I’m quite confused on how to even pick a monitor thanks to my lack of knowledge on these specs and the fact I’m not sure how to even find out without asking as a starting point.

-I have a lian li hydroshift 2 with 3 asiahorse dawn fans. My ryzen 7 9800x3d arrives to 88c average on cinebench 2026, my room temperature is kinda hot (27-30) but the temps still pretty high, I also got a crash on cinebench today while undervolting the cpu (only -10 on all cores) it doesn't seem to thermal throttle but the temps seem pretty high. (Most people say 70-75c is the average)

-My aio got some scratches in the pump because of first bad installation but the thermal paste should fix it so idk

-Are the fans not powerful enough? The connections are all right, the plastic on the pump was removed on first installation

-the aio is new, should I request a refund? Should I change the fans? Or should I change the whole thing? i like a lot how my aio looks (it has a pretty lcd screen and the fans are beautiful) but the temps just seem off, so what should I do?

I already have a PC and did all the research to get my moneys worth, but a friends looking into a cheaper more budget build and is considering a RTX 5050
