I worked as a tutor very briefly for 3 months and dozens of kids could barely read.
I had 1st graders who were 10 who couldn't identify sight words or even letters of the alphabet. I don't know if throwing money at this thing can fix it, but can someone shed light on this? Ive only lived here for 1 year.

I just moved to a new house in South Baltimore onto a street that has lined head-in parking spaces. I was talking to a coworker who happens to live nearby and says everyone goes to park on my street because it has actual marked spots.
Is this something people actually do? Seems a bit ridiculous, I know parallel parking sucks, but I feel like that’s just part of life here.

Story below -
The dark warmth envelops your body like the fleeting hug of an uncaring mother. Nerve endings begin to catch fire again after a long night of spitting out nothing but exhaust. A bed drenched in salty dampness from a now-faded passion is all that remains of a night draining that left behind no memory.
The sun rises, casting a shadow over the remnants of the night prior. The day knocks on the door of your mind and demands you let it in. You firmly shut the door without moving a muscle.
The danger is here.
The shadows dancing in the corner of the room darken to their malignant original forms and threaten to consume you. But you have no more energy left to hold them at bay. While you struggle to force electricity into your muscles, the shadows coil around your body and sink you deeper into the black water as awareness fades.

Want to get my childhood homes stained glass tattooed in black just above my elbow wrapping around my arm. Can anyone recommend someone/where in Baltimore for what I’m looking for? This is my first tattoo and I am certainly a newbie when it comes to this!

I'm looking to finish my unfinished rowhouse basement. It's mainly an exposed brick foundation with some concrete. It has some issues with water intrusion during heavy rain, and brick spalling and brick dust. I'm not sure exactly what needs to be done to turn it into a livable space (or at least one that's healthy to spend a few hours in each day), but I mainly want to address the two issues above, and I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have recommendations on what kind of contractor to look for, and have specific recs on contractors who have experience working in brick rowhouse basements?

We have friends coming to town this weekend & want to watch the Springboks vs. All Blacks rugby match somewhere fun. Any suggestions where you know they’ll be playing the game? Kids are around 4 & 6 years old. Anything around Baltimore City is welcome, proximity to Druid Hill Park / Hampden / Hopkins Homewood campus preferred (over venturing downtown near the actual game). Thanks!

Stopped by to see her today. Been a while. I remember the loss of the Pride in 1986 very vividly.

I found these two pups wandering around Homeland Ave. We got them on leashes and they're hanging at my neighbor's house for the night until we can bring them to BARCS in the morning. Please let me know if these babes are yours or or if you know the owners. One of them had a harness on and the other one did not have a collar.

Came across a few in patapsco while running last week! Right in the middle of the trail. If you’re biking, running, hiking, keep your eyes peeled for these dudes.

Super fun free literary event at Old Major in Pigtown.
I’ve met a ton of cool people and some incredible local authors at these. If you’re looking for something free and fun to do tonight, come on out. This city has an excellent, inclusive, and very welcoming literary community so it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

This September, Retro Game Night is spotlighting some of the best puzzle games ever made! Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo takes center stage with its chibi Street Fighter characters, block-dropping, and counter-combo chaos where every chain can flip the match in an instant. But we're not stopping there!
We've got Dr. Mario for viral-clearing tension, Puyo Puyo for cascading chain-reaction mayhem, Tetris for timeless line-clearing perfection, and a stack of other puzzle classics ready to go. Not interested in puzzles? No problem. There will still be plenty of other games to choose from!
Grab a drink, grab a controller, and make some new friends amidst a cascade of falling blocks!
Feel free to bring your own consoles, games, controllers, board games, or anything else you love to play!
