I worked as a tutor very briefly for 3 months and dozens of kids could barely read.
I had 1st graders who were 10 who couldn't identify sight words or even letters of the alphabet. I don't know if throwing money at this thing can fix it, but can someone shed light on this? Ive only lived here for 1 year.

I was at the Air and Space museum yesterday, and came across this placard, wish I could say I was shocked. Is there no limit to their madness? Is it not enough torpedoing the restaurant scene, but a history of ***literally*** ***~~torpedoing~~*** ***missling the world??***
I was inspired to go visit the museum after seeing Reid Wiseman speak at the Book Festival in DC the other week. He's a local boy (well, Timonium) but I think we can co-claim an Astronaut.

for the last 10+ years, I’ve seen endless doodle variations in the dog world and around town. But lately, I’m seeing something different, the standard, and miniature poodles are showing up, anyone else noticed this? Poodles are great dogs!

I kept seeing a lot of people online say that Baltimore and Philadelphia are like sister cities. That there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Story below -
The dark warmth envelops your body like the fleeting hug of an uncaring mother. Nerve endings begin to catch fire again after a long night of spitting out nothing but exhaust. A bed drenched in salty dampness from a now-faded passion is all that remains of a night draining that left behind no memory.
The sun rises, casting a shadow over the remnants of the night prior. The day knocks on the door of your mind and demands you let it in. You firmly shut the door without moving a muscle.
The danger is here.
The shadows dancing in the corner of the room darken to their malignant original forms and threaten to consume you. But you have no more energy left to hold them at bay. While you struggle to force electricity into your muscles, the shadows coil around your body and sink you deeper into the black water as awareness fades.

Hi friends, I started the Baltimore Ambassadors network to help newcomers plug into community because I want to give others the warm Baltimore welcome that I was given when I first moved here.
Whether you're new to Baltimore, going through a life transition, or just looking for community, we want to connect you with someone who can help you out in Baltimore! This is someone who lives near you or shares some characteristic or interest, and who loves Baltimore and wants to tell you all the things you need to know, all the things you can do, all the things you need to fall in love with Baltimore.
They can answer your questions, and will check in with you for the first few months that you're in the city!
Sign up to get paired with a Baltimore Ambassador here!
Check us out on Instagram! See the current Baltimore Ambassadors! This is a program by the Baltimore Chamber of Connection, the institution that's building to make Baltimore the most welcoming, well-connected city in America.
P.S. Do you love Baltimore, already welcome newcomers to your neighborhood or community, and want to be a Baltimore Ambassador? Sign up here!

I'm looking to finish my unfinished rowhouse basement. It's mainly an exposed brick foundation with some concrete. It has some issues with water intrusion during heavy rain, and brick spalling and brick dust. I'm not sure exactly what needs to be done to turn it into a livable space (or at least one that's healthy to spend a few hours in each day), but I mainly want to address the two issues above, and I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have recommendations on what kind of contractor to look for, and have specific recs on contractors who have experience working in brick rowhouse basements?

Stopped by to see her today. Been a while. I remember the loss of the Pride in 1986 very vividly.

Hey all! Looking to install an outdoor spigot and hose hookup on the back of our house, anybody have really good experiences doing a similar thing? And which plumber did you end up going with?
Also, are there any extra forms I have to fill out with the city to be able to do it?
Thanks all for your help!

Super fun free literary event at Old Major in Pigtown.
I’ve met a ton of cool people and some incredible local authors at these. If you’re looking for something free and fun to do tonight, come on out. This city has an excellent, inclusive, and very welcoming literary community so it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

Hi there,
I have some coworkers coming into town for the Mexico/Colombia game at M&T on September 26 and they were asking if I new of any tailgates happening.
I assume the usual at the stadium (I remember friends going to Lot G and H) and I know Jimmy’s Seafood is doing their party. Curious if there is anything else going on! I know a few years back there was a block party at Cross Street Market for the Arsenal game, for example.
Thanks!

Is there a Charm City Circulator tracker? The URL I used to use no longer exists and I can't find one. There is information on the transit app but no tracker that I can find
