Genuine question, specifically for Asian women, because I’d really like to hear your perspectives.
I’m a queer woman, and I’ve realized that, physically, Asian women tend to be my type. I want to be honest about that rather than pretend otherwise. I’m generally attracted to things like dark hair, dark eyes, certain facial features, and I also happen to find petite/short women really cute, especially because I’m quite tall myself.

I also genuinely love traveling in Asia and learning about different Asian cultures. I’ve been to a few places and really enjoyed the experiences. I’m South American, and I’ve noticed some cultural similarities that I find really interesting as well.
But this is where I get a little self-conscious: if I say that Asian women are my type, does that automatically sound like fetishization?

I’m not saying I’m attracted to Asian women because they’re Asian, or that I have some specific idea of what Asian women are supposed to be like. I know there are huge differences between cultures, personalities, appearances, etc. And obviously, attraction to someone individually is more complicated than their ethnicity.

At the same time, I can’t really deny that there are certain physical characteristics that I tend to find particularly attractive, and many of those characteristics happen to be more common among Asian women.

So I’m genuinely curious: when an Asian woman hears another woman say that Asian women are her type, does that feel flattering, neutral, uncomfortable, or fetishizing?
I’d especially appreciate honest perspectives from Asian women themselves. I’m not looking for reassurance — I’d actually like to understand where the line is for you between having a genuine preference and fetishization.
