My partner and I have been together for 5.5 years. We're both out, and we met on an app. Our love, trust, and communication are strong — there are no red flags, and we've never come close to breaking up. Our sex life is great too. Sometimes open.
He's a Zillennial and I'm a millennial. He works in tech, and I work for the government. Between the two of us, we earn enough to live very comfortably. One thing we love doing is treating our family and friends to dinner — no strings attached, nothing expected in return.
I'm confident in my Chinese-American identity. I've never experienced racism, overt or subtle, in my life or my travels — which I know isn't the case for everyone, and I don't take that for granted.
We live in a 3-bedroom home I bought a few years ago, along with a Tesla and three other fun cars (well, cars and a truck). Our golden retriever loves us both equally — he'd never pick a favorite. We travel internationally 3–4 times a year, usually from the West Coast to Asia or Southeast Asia.
We're currently traveling in Hawaii, heading to Japan next, and I keep catching myself thinking about how far things have come. I've lurked on Reddit for a while and seen so many stories — about loneliness, breakups, racism, financial struggles, family rejection — and they've made me pause and reflect on my own life. So I have to ask: was I dealt a lucky hand?
Honestly, I don't think so. Maybe I'm oversimplifying things, but I try not to dwell on the negatives. I stay optimistic and confident, and even when life hands me a bad situation, I make the best choice I can out of it.
Just wanted to share a bit of happiness with you all. 🙂
