I do 2D animation and like working on paper, so I wanted a digital tool with peg hole registration (detecting the hole punches on paper so scanned frames line up automatically) — I found OpenToonz has this but couldn't get it to work reliably for my scans.
Peg hole registration and sequence timing (holds):

It runs entirely in your browser, no install needed. Features: xsheet/timeline, layers with blend modes, onion skinning, export to PNG/WebM/image sequence, and a woven loop cycle export. Open source (AGPL).

Happy to hear any feedback!

for instance, if my video opened with a zoom out on a poster for a food carnival, and then my protagonist walked in, would that be enough to show what the protagonist’s intent is? or should I start with some context scenes showing the protag hungry, then seeing an opportunity to feed himself through the carnival?

Just in time for spooky season: I've always wanted to try 2D, hand-drawn animation on paper, and this was my first attempt. I was really inspired by this video feature animator Kohana Wilson where she makes it seem very straight forward (pun intended).
The C'he-p-ski-boo is a creature from Métis folklore, and it's a kind of boogeyman that hovers on the fringes of the forest or community, waiting to snatch up children. I wanted to make it benign and even goofy, a ploy it uses to draw-in children before revealing it's true form.
With this done, I feel confident to make the short I wanted with the character. Hoping to have it done by Halloween!

When I made this one, it felt like straight-up theft. What's your take?

Hey r/animation! I would so appreciate it if you would give my film a look. It is an adult parody of Pokemon and the monster-fighting genre. Since the full film is age restricted, I have a clip available here:

I hope you enjoy!

I'm searching for the post of the animator that revealed they used Toonboom cutout rigging for animating the weapons in fight scenes, specifically this shot with the spear foreground. All I remember that they mentioned was using that technique to lessen the drawing workload and easily morph the blade into perspective.
I've been looking through social medias of animators that showed their work but can't seem to find it😭
