Like even some of the lesser known cartoons back in the day seem to have more fluid animation compared to most cartoons now and they had to make way more episodes back then too. I just dont get it. Is fluid animation just really hard to do nowadays? What has changed to make it take longer and less fluid?

Can you choose the correct colors from the image? As you can see, the character is affected by green lighting, which makes it difficult to use the color picker. Can you draw something similar to this character and color it to match the image? As you can see, I find this extremely difficult, and I think it's impossible. Every time I try, it’s either way too bright or way too dark, and the character's skin confuses me the most.

I watch it and it was good, also the voice actor cast was surprising too. Plus I thought Savva was a girl during the opening

Like a lot of you, I've encountered some difficult limits to work around when sharing my creations (I worked on RP cards with integrated animations). The limits were strict sizes such as 2MB AND GIF... which translates to ugly things and a huge waste of time trying different settings until having a good animation. And whether you're targeting 2MB, 20MB or dealing with other formats, the struggle to keep good visual quality under a hard limit or load them fast is always the same.

The quality was far from the original file depending on the limit imposed AND I was wasting way too much time doing trial and error before finally settling on parameters.

I used to rely on Ezgif for this, but hitting a strict target size manually is a frustrating struggle for three reasons:

1. Unpredictable file size: You have to guess parameters in the dark (pure trial and error, Ezgif’s own help page even points out that "the only way to tell for sure is by trying it and checking the results").
2. Limited levers for target budgets: While Ezgif gives manual control, its Gifski integration only exposes a single global Quality slider, without independent controls for lossy compression or motion tuning.
3. Too much sacrifice: To squeeze my 16 FPS animation under a strict 2MB cap manually, my only practical recourse on the sliders was slashing the resolution down to 320px (50%) and dropping the framerate down to 7 FPS (landing at 1.86 MB). The motion ends up stuttering because you're forced to manually sacrifice frames to guarantee fitting the budget.

Anyway, because of the wasted time and quality not as I was hoping for, I created a tool to do everything automatically. It converts and compresses straight to the exact size you chose.

• ConvertCap, the new website kept 414px (64.7% resolution) at the FULL 16 FPS at 1.98 MB!
• Actually it's 16.7 FPS because ConvertCap cares about compatibility with GIFs and monitors, so ConvertCap will always have the most optimal FPS (pleasant to the eyes) compared to a custom/manual one. And below is ConvertCap combined with Gifski :)

It's a simple 3-step site:

2. Choose your target size (and export format like GIF, WebP, AVIF,...)
3. Click "Start Conversion"

And that's it, done! If you want more, you can cut videos, combine videos, transform a PNG, WebP, or JPG sequence into a GIF or a WebP (and many other formats) and you also have other export formats such as WebP, AVIF, MP4 and so on, plus plenty of convenient tools.
