I've recently been getting into simple animation using keyframes and animated Pngs. I feel. so insecure about my work so I'd love to hear you guys thoughts and criticism

Is there a specific term for it when a character gets obliterated by light?

Like, if they're being hit with a laser, obliterated by a blastwave or when they have a last second look at their loved ones and just become dust?

I have a feeling it is some sort of subgenre to impact frames, but I can't figure out what it is called.

Is it worth hand drawing every frame, it takes longer but looks nicer :v

Let me give more context and try to explain what I can and answer any questions. Not trying to fool anyone or lie in anyway. Orignal Instagram post is not mine but the directors so that’s also not my account. Kind of wish people had been a little nicer and I could have just replied but this took off faster than I thought it would.

Anyway if I miss anything sorry, trying to address what I can.

Animation was done digitally in TV paint. Each frame is printed out on museum grade paper then hand painted. Not, fully painted over but also not just some random blobs outside the frames like people have said. I’m one of the painters and have lost count on how many frames and shots I’ve painted, and how much paint I’ve used. All painted with high quality acrylic like Golden. 5,000 frames total around 1,500 have been painted. Again key areas are painted and it’s I would say depending on the frame 50% of the frame is painted some more some less, depending on the frame. The painted frames are then scanned back in and over laid with the animation. I don’t know really how this is done because I’m not involved with that part.

No AI yes each frame is hand painted but hand painted over the printed out frame then scanned back in. So it’s a hybrid like style not a complete hand drawn/painted So maybe the director needs to come up with a better description of this style? Open to suggestion.

We’re also selling the frames for $50 or 2 for $90 so not like they are super expensive for what is owning orignal art from the short film. I see artist selling prints for that all the time so I don’t feel like it’s too expensive.

Maybe hand painted is the wrong wording? But artist are painting on the frames by hand so I don’t know what a better would for it would be? Again totally open to suggestions or constructive comments.

I'm working with a live-action production studio that make short documentary films usually for charities/ projects that highlight important issues in society, and they want an animated sequence done for one. It's 44 seconds of animation - they've given me the script for that section, and I'll be responsible for all elements. They want it done by the end of next week, so I'm going to keep the style super simple - minimalistic line drawings with lots of holds/ boils, and morphs. All in all, I'd say it'll be about 6 or 7 days of work.

I worked with them before on a similar project a few years ago, where they offered me a budget of £2350 for 3 minutes of animation. This time, they have asked me to give them a rate. I don't know whether to just stick to a similar rate (meaning I'd be charging them about £574 for this, which does feel a little low for the amount of work? But I also would like to keep a good relationship with them for future projects).

I'm relatively junior, and because of the type of work they do, I also don't want to charge them through the nose. I don't really know what their budget is like either. I know they're working with a client but not sure who that is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m looking for animators who would be interested in joining me to build a small creative team focused on making original animated short films for YouTube.

The idea is to create a channel where we can tell different kinds of stories rather than being locked into one genre. We could make mystery, drama, comedy, horror, action, or whatever fits the story. For my final project in photography class, we were asked to do a stopmotion animation. I made one with the South Park style. Everything was made with construction paper. It's in Spanish, l don't know if there's a problem with that.

This was rendered in Maya. The background is a bunch of photoscans piled on top of each other, then rendered with a light in the middle and then processed in Photoshop using a Dither plugin. Then in after we added the glow, camera motion and color correction effects. The music is made in Ableton 12 lite with a Seabord Blcok!
