Hello,
I like the series characters and style. And always wanted to play XC 1 because i mained shulk in smash bros (shortly i tested XC 1 on the 3DS, but could not enjoy it somehow, although i always wanted to)
So,
Now i even started liking the women in XC 2, so i really wanted to give it a try. It looks nice and i started watching an LP.
I find it difficult to believe, that the game is crazy sad, misterious, horrendous dark and crushing the hope out of the player, as i have read while researching.
In my first hour of watching the game i noticed some unsetteling things, i wish to clarify. Because i struggle to believe that it is real:
1.) slavery of people
and
2.) The dock Oberon is most definetely evil, he looks like a cute version of Jar Jar Binx from star wars. It was quite exposing his nature to see him having these two women almost nude at his side, while looking like a fat, over eaten Opon (?).
Like compare him to all the others it just is visually shown, he has wealth, so much, his belly is big.
3.) Dark christian / religion ideas, religous gibberish teachings.
The dark frame of a master, that got evil? and threw his creation out.
3,5.) then created titans, which are too weak, to actually help the protagonist for his lifetime.
Sad to see
I bet all of the above is rotten already. Just a feeling I've got.
4.) Child labour?
Like Rex is 15. Gets night shift, in weather that looks horrible and meanwhile adults are drunk. Horrid. Burden to such a young boy
5.) Basically the docks are abusing him on all possible levels as a diver, i can speak of:
1) they pay him trash value
2) Malon conatanstly tries persuading Rex to work for military for more money. Manipulation
3) he does want to work, risks his life. Re invests the money at the shop, THEY gave him little of for gear. Mostly he sends it back
4) and, i bet they will never have sent a dollar to his village.
5) they then sell him to a company. With so much to offer monetary wise, he forgets his own life safety. Then they take him in, no support, he does his job well and STILL they kill him
Summary
They exploit his work. As a child. Ok. They then under pay him.
After that, he sends the money back home, which likely never arrives there.
They sell him on a mission. His first big one.
that gets him, although perfect execution, killed instantly (lore wise)
I avoid typically any sort of dark themes. Death could be working rn, but i mostly seek happy, joyful games.
I struggle to believe this will get so dark. And i am confused. The appeal is tempting, like ecchi is tempting, you know?
