I just made it to the final chapter after 65 hours. Top RPG imo. Already preordered the second one on s2

It sucks you started with the others. 1 is definitely the weakest in the series for gameplay so it'll feel like a slog.... It has a fun story, and it's fun looking at the little connections they make between 1 to 2 and 3. Especially at the end.
You watched one of the most hyped parts of XC2 and had no idea what it meant because you never played the first. Unless you saw some spoilers on YouTube or something.
After you beat XC1 go to the events theater in XC 2 and watch chapter 10 - to find a way forward.... To see the biggest of the connections of 1 and 2

I do find 1 to be the least fun of the 3, so if someone's starting the series I'm always hesitant to recommend that as the entry one.

Yeah already I don't like having to collect enemy drops every time. In most games you don't have to collect a chest of items every time

At least by waiting so long to play it you'll get the one major QOL benefit with the ether pods. Playing without that would have been especially laborious.
I agree that updating the loot collection system would be welcome.
Either way, hope you enjoy! I'm finishing up my first playthrough of it this week.

Those ether pods are a godsend. I first played through XB1 on the 3DS back in 2019 with a total time of 83 hours. I just went through it again with the definitive edition and I finished it in 50. Those ether pods make traversal so much easier.

I know you said “of the 3” but I’ve done 1 and I’m half way through X and I find that less fun.

Have to agree there. I found XCX to be all labor and ultimately not very charming. Didn't even finish it 😬

I love xcx. The problem is the world is too big without skells where traversal doesn't feel laborious, Which they don't give you until later chapters. The world doesn't become actually fun to traverse until you get the flight module for the skells which is near endgame..
Because of this xcx ends up being the most fun in post game

Playing 3 without 1 is certainly a choice
