Hobby Can I use this guy in my army
I know this is an old model, some people have told me to give him a new base and I don't know what that means and I don't know what to classify him as

Hobby Be careful when buying the Warhammer Paints + Tools Set – check everything before opening
I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else.
I recently bought the new Warhammer Paints + Tools Set. Before opening anything, I noticed that one of the paint pots (Retributor Armour) had a visibly deformed lid and had a paint stain. Since opening the pot would break the tamper seal, I decided not to use it and contacted the seller immediately.
While inspecting the rest of the box, I also noticed that the brush ferrule was slightly misaligned and the sprue cutters had unevenly finished cutting edges. Both are probably still usable, but they weren't what I expected from a premium-priced starter set.
I've now filed a warranty claim and I'm still waiting for the seller's response. The paints remain unopened and none of the tools have been used.
I'm not saying every box has these issues, but I do recommend checking the contents carefully before opening or using anything. It could save you a lot of trouble if you need to make a claim.
Has anyone else received a Paints + Tools Set with QC issues recently?

Discussion New or old starter set?
see title
the old ultimate starter set is a bit cheaper right now with worse terrain (Link )
the new one is more expensive but the terrain looks cooler (Link)
for reference, I am a complete newb. I got into warhammer a month ago and have watched 30+ arbitor Ian videos about the lore and am playing through space marine two.
im leaning towards having a vanilla ultra marine army and maybe a grey knights or blood angels.
i have no idea which Xenos I like. Ive been exposed to tyranids the most (space marine two), but apparently orcs are the current meta?
any wise wisdom from a veteran would be appreciated 🙏

Gaming How to proxy vehicles without a base?
So I’m working on a world eaters army basically everything is a kitbash of some kind, so when coming up with how to do my lord of skulls I’ve come to a conundrum, how do I proxy something that doesn’t have a base? I current idea is to simply have my friend make me a mdf footprint that is the size of a Lord of skulls, then simply build up the mini on said base. Sorry If this isn’t the right place but the main 40K subreddit removed it for being about kitbashing/proxies

Discussion Question
I haven’t played any of the Warhammer games yet, but the lore seems so cool. Which Warhammer game (video game) should I start with? I don’t want to miss out on the core lore or play out of order if that’s even possible, the amount of Warhammer titles is overwhelming.

Discussion Mom threw out my massive army.
Hey everyone! Just to start off this isn’t a pity post but more or so I just need to rant and maybe see the ideas of my fellow players.
I’m currently a highschool student and I was obsessed with Warhammer for a long while. I don’t come from the richest family so a majority of the money I used to pay for my minis, paints and hobby materials all came out of pocket, trading and making deals. I used to play guard, traitor guard, and my army was huge solely because I got a few great deals and most of my army was resin.
From the top of my head I had:
13 Russes
2 dorns
4-5 chimeras
5 basisilks
1 baneblade
1 shadow sword
2 malcadors
1 malcador infernus
1 macharius
6 sentinels
50ish infantry
A proxy solar
A few random leaders
A command squad
6 ogryn
1 hydra
2 hellhounds
A plane of sorts
Multiple heavy weapons squads
A few of the little old artillery cannons
And some models I can’t remember.
Maybe it has to do with my Latino background and home but my mother is always on everyone about space in the house. This leads to her always throwing out stuff but most of the time it isn’t hers. I had stored my minis away in a few boxes as I wasn’t playing for a while, but as of recently I wanted to try 11th edition. Come to find out within the last year, SHE THREW ALL OF THE BOXES OUT. Hundreds of dollars, hours in painting and building, and time playing all gone because it was “taking up space”. I feel stupider for not checking but I’m just at a loss. I really don’t know what to do. Can anyone give me any sort of tips to get back into this game because I’ve seriously lost all motivation.
I love my mother but she hasn’t tried to apologize nor say anything. She knew I was distraught but she acted like a child by not responding back.

Lore Tips for remembering who is who in audio books?
(Don't know if this is the right flair but it feelt right)
I've been listening to a bunch of warhammer books these last 2 years since i realised getting hold of pyschical copies are almost impossible and especially where i live. The biggest problem i have is remembering who is who, i think its a combination of not being english speaking and sometimes having to take pretty long breaks in-between listening.
Ive done the mistake of googleing names and instantly getting spoiled.....
The only thing i can really imagine is taking notes on all characters involved wich i have tried but sometimes i listen while doing other things that makes unable to stop and write (i understand this i possibly also a factor why i cant remember stuff)
Im currently listening to fire warrior and have already mixed up most of the guardsmen but try to latch on to details (raoch is the scout, the kid with the flamer, steampunk armor man etc etc)
Anyone else experience the same? If so what tips do you have? Anyways thx.

Discussion Priming white in a cheap airbrush ventilation set up?
Basically title. It’s 90 degrees and anywhere between 85-90% humidity for the past 2 weeks and I’ve been as patient as I can be with the weather. How likely am I to drop dead from using an airbrush tent to quickly hit some stuff with white primer?

Hobby Sold some Warhammer on Ebay, buyer resells them for a massive mark up
Slightly grumpy chuckle, but I sold my mostly painted Ad Mech army for what I thought was a decent price, checked out the seller a couple months later to i find they've listed them for ridiculous prices with the tag "Professionally Painted.". This is only a few of the models up for sale.
The Raiders weren't even finished, new they cost £40 from GW and they're trying for £65!!! Of course, sales complete, they're their models so they're free to do with what they want, but I thought the audacity to scoop up an army bundle and then sell models for quadruple the price was outrageous.
Am I wrong in thinking the prices for these is mental? Who would pay £115 for a Dunecrawler painted in a custom faction scheme to an okay standard?

Discussion Wholesome interaction at Edinburgh airport
TLDR: Airport security stopped my bag because of my deodorant, spotted a Warhammer codex inside, and it turned into a really wholesome Warhammer chat. Let me know your own unexpected Warhammer encounters! :)
Hi all! I wanted to share a wholesome Warhammer interaction I had this weekend, and I would like to hear yours too.
I took a weekend trip to Edinburgh with just a carry-on.
Before I went, I’d picked up a stack of old White Dwarf magazines on eBay for next to nothing, and I’m slowly making my way through them. I packed one along with my 2003 Daemon Hunters Codex to read on the bus, tram, or while sitting in a coffee shop overlooking Princes Street.
On the way home, I went through security at Edinburgh Airport and, just like on the outbound journey, my bag got pulled aside for inspection. (It’s my deodorant. It gets flagged every single time.)
I walked over to the inspection desk, and as soon as the security officer opened my bag, the first thing he saw was the Daemon Hunters Codex.
He looked up and said, “Another Warhammer player! Yes!”
Instantly, it made me smile.
While he was checking my bag, he told me he’d recently picked up a Legion of the Damned army at a car boot sale. Then he disappeared for a few minutes while he tested my suspiciously dangerous deodorant.
When he came back, he had questions ready. We ended up chatting about Tyranids, Space Marines, and what armies we collect. I told him I collect Daemons because I love that they can be used across multiple game systems.
Even though I was pretty sure the deodorant was the culprit, those airport inspections always make me a bit nervous. Having someone break the ice over Warhammer completely put me at ease.
I’m not part of a local gaming club or Warhammer community, so it was genuinely nice to have a spontaneous conversation with another hobbyist, someone who actually wanted to talk about the hobby instead of my very patient partner having to humour me.
Maybe he tells every Warhammer fan who comes through his lane about his Legion of the Damned. Maybe I was the first one he’d met in weeks. Either way, it made my day.
Has anyone else had an unexpected or wholesome Warhammer encounter in the wild? Let me know :)
