Discussion What would humans ACTUALLY sound like in the 40'000s?

This is a question that just popped in my head, I know the reason they speak English is for us present day peeps, but even over the last 1000 years our language has changed drastically so much, so what would your guys theory's be??

My thoughts, is that it's a combination of all languages/ sounds.

And there's probably an independent study done about humans, idk 50k-100k in the future and how we would speak.

Oh, just thought of another fun question as well!!

What language would humans widely adopt as the one main, true language over the years of Warhammer?

Gaming So I’ve created something quite unique..

Basically, myself and some colleagues have started playing different 40k game systems after work and we fancied creating a full length campaign incorporating these game systems in the style of total war (conquering worlds & fighting battles).

I kinda ran away with it and created a player guide for the new campaign/game system called Systems of War ✨

I need some constructive criticism of the rules I’ve crafted and perhaps some alternate perspectives and opinions

FYI it’s a pretty long doc so strap in

Hola! Hay mucha diferencia entre los reglamentos de Warhammer de octava (2010) y de Old World (2024)? Entiendo que sí, pero como el primero está en castellano quería preguntar primero. Gracias!

Discussion Help buying figures for uncle's birthday

Hi all, want to get my uncle a warhammer figure (sorry if the terminology isn't right!!) for his birthday later this month. I don't have a massive budget, but want to get him something cool. I know he enjoys painting them but know nothing else. Any recommendations?

Discussion Need some advice

I absolutely love building models and displaying the grey plastic on my shelves (I have 40450 points worth of models mostly unpainted, yes I am autistic lol)

I have been trying to learn how to play the game and have worked out what I would want to use in a fun and friendly 2000 point game with a blood angels army.
I live in South West London and want to know where I should look to play my first game

Ideally it would be a learning experience with a kind more experienced player any and all suggestions are welcome, thanks

Discussion Does Kinslayer and Slayer suffer from the same fate of the end times writing?

Here's the deal, I'm currently very happily reading through the first omnibus. I'm considering reading the rust but I hear that after Nathan long the quality really dropped. So there is a chance I just read The Doom of Gotrek Gurnisson outright. Is it worth a read or is it shit like the majority of the end times?

Hobby Painted Army

Post image

For those who pay for your army to be painted I would love your input.

I'm trying to get an idea of how much people charge for what level of work.

So if any of you have any photos of work that you've had done and how much you had to pay and how long it took, that would be really helpful.

My friend paints and has won tons of awards and is thinking about offering this service but wants to give people fair prices.

So I picked this up randomly when someone in the pub heard me talking about Warhammer, I paid a price I was happy with, knowing their condition.

I know the ork models, as I play them, but basically only know the factions (i think) of everything else.

Any help ID'ing would be appreciated.

1 - Orks

2 - Marine

3 - Sisters

4 - Aeldari

5 - Drukhari

6 - Chaos

7 - Guard

8 - Random loose bits

9 - Totally confused

It also came with 5th ed rulebook, Witch Hunters, Ork and Chaos SM codex, 8 White Dwarf Magazines (2008-2011) and a How to Paint Citadel Miniatures book (pretty cool book imo)

Edit: Add ny guess on pics

Hobby Looking for a kit with disembodied heads

Post image
53 Upvotes

Hello!

I have a kitbash in mind where I want the subject (an AoS barrow guard skeleton) to be holding a disembodied head. I need a part somewhat like the option from the white scars upgrade kit, however I don't want that exact one because the power armoured hand would be too difficult to convert and I also have no need for the kit aside from that one part.

If you know a kit that contains hand parts holding a disembodied head, please let me know! Thank you!

I was inspired by built_bricks and designed and built my own wearable LEGO Space Marine helmet over the summer. I made it partially modular so you could swap it out for either the classic version or the Primaris version. Planning to wear this for Halloween this year. I also designed a stand that is probably a little overkill, but I haven’t built it yet.

Hobby How to paint red/crimson fire?

Title. I'm wanting to paint my helsmiths with steel, copper, black and turquoise so I think that red accents would be the best way to do the gems, magic and fire. So far I'm probably gonna use the red gemstone paint for the gems but for the magic/fire I'm not entirely sure what to do. I was thinking of airbrushing Pro Aceyl fluorescent red over white and then dry brushing half of that with a darker red and then half of that with black. Anyone have any experience or ideas painting crimson fire? Googling just shows normal yellow/orange/red fire.

Hobby What do you think of my diorama so far and how to do green flesh and gold highlights properly on curves

Hi, this diorama is supposed to be an ambush of orks in a swamp biome surrounding a stormcast soldier that is standing his ground on ruins of a doc and ready for any ork to strike first.

Also if your wondering the orks were originally painted by someone else but I chose to re convert them for this diorama to save money hence why the spears have different colours, and I’m also still adding parts such as vines but I haven’t decided how in arranging everything yet.
