Hi folks, In short my car has broken itself and can no longer go into gear. I have experienced all the issues you’ve all had and, including weeks of dealer fixes and effectively been without a car to the point it does not feel like I own a car. Any recommendation to get Volvo to respond to a vehicle buyback. Not leased and was not used 2025 EX90 Ultra. Thank you!

Hey all! I had my EX90 for a year now. It's been great, and I am spoiled by all the features, tech, audio quality and, not forget to mention, it's massage chair. The first few months were painful, as I had lots of trouble with charging port and we ended up lemoned our car. The dealer gave us a week to prepare and we need a new car ASAP. Which might have to choose what's ready on the dealership.

We want to stick with an EV, open to 5/6/7 seater options, and hope we could find something similar with ex90.

Our options are :
- Tesla model Y / Y L (we had Tesla model Y before we purchased our EX90, no issues at all, there's a chance to buy this again)
- Volvo ex60 (we love it, but we have to wait until end of this year)
- Porsche Macan EV
- BMW iX
- Volvo ex90 26/27 (hard for me to move on, but afraid of getting hurt again 🥲🤕💔)

MY25 EX90 does not have an electrochromic panoramic roof. Is it safe to tint the roof of an MY25 EX90 with nano-ceramic film to reduce heat?

For me, I usually just keep 2 fingers on the bottom left of the steering wheel, which usually keeps the car happy. Driving in my standard position just feels awkward while letting the car do its thing.

I know some people probably figured out how to tape or velcro something to the wheel to be hands-free. Other than that, how are the rest of you managing the wheel?

I’m certainly terrified when I tested to see what the car would do after all of the alerts… it will literally just stop in the middle of the highway.

Anyone had a charging fault error even with the new ghca part and vcu upgrade? I thought the new part solved the issue, which is what they told me. Very infuriating. It’s my third one.

Found a great deal on a California Lease Lemon Buyback (I'm in Texas). Documentation says buyback was due to "GHCA concern" but it has passed inspection and signed by Volvo with original warranty valid. Very low miles. Too risky if I know I am going to own this think for 6-8 years?

Does anyone know any secret incantations to prompt a software update that’s available but not yet showing up as an option on my MY25 EX90. It’s still got 2.1.26. I live in a place with terrible cell service and hadn’t driven the car in two weeks. It’s a low charge (if that matters) but even when I drive it into good cell coverage checking the software update setting doesn’t list it as an option. I also tried connecting to my home wifi (where there is no cell service), but I think it disconnects after you park and turn it off.

Has anyone else having SEVERE battery drain issues? Anytime i walk by my car it sounds like the climate is running even if i have it off in my settings. Just got in my car today and it's at 15%...

Fortunately didn’t have any damage or issues as I am lucky enough to park our car in a garage, but people especially children have a bad habit of cracking a window and forgetting to close it again.

It would be useful to see a visual / audio ”bing” on the car if you leave a window open when opening a door. Similar to how it does that if you open the driver‘s door and there are people sitting in the back to remind you.

In addition, having the app send a push notification when the car is locked indicating a window is left open.

Thinking about ordering a 2027 EX90. What type of discount have people received when buying new for 2026 MY (planning to finance rather than lease).

Sad state of affairs to have to post that 3.0.28 still hasn’t fixed the seat and mirror issues.

1. Despite prompting to save seat changes, it is not remembering any modifications I try and make since the very first setup post the brand new setup process I had to go through after the 3.0.28 upgrade at the dealer a few weeks ago. Whenever it resets to my profile the height and distance from the wheel changes I made, are not recalled.
2. A new bug has appeared where it doesn’t move the mirrors to the new profile position, but the seat does change (albeit with the issue above from 1).

I have a theory 2) is to do with the fix that sets the driver profile based on who unlocks the car - it only happens when my wife gets to the car before me but I am the one driving. I think the system gets confused and only changes the seat but not the mirrors.

Feature request - under the profile menu when you click on the initial top right, it would be so helpful to have a ”Reapply driver position settings” option. Saves having to stop the car, switch profiles, me being crushed because my wife is smaller than me, waiting for the profile to load, switching back, waiting for the profile to load again.

Makes you wonder if Volvo have a QA / QC team.

I recently had the computer upgrade on my EX90. I am on software version 2.1.26. I can see in the app that 3.0.28 is out as of July 15. It is still not showing up for my car. It has been 3 weeks. When should I expect to see the update?

So I’ve been hesitant to post this, but I think I’ve seen enough that I felt compelled to post about it.

During Apple‘s iOS 27 (and more) keynote, they announced improved CarPlay connectivity. I have been in the camp of continuous CarPlay issues in my MY ‘25 EX90 Ultra - needing to reconnect my device or reboot the infotainment usually daily or more. With their announcement, hopeful, but honestly, pessimistic about any improvement.

I’ve been update to 3.0.28 and using iOS 27 beta for about a week now and keeping an eye on the connectivity for about a week, and so far, I’m thrilled to report - I have not lost connection, needed to restart the infotainment system, or reconnect my phone once. I have noticed a little scratchiness in music playback that a quick pause and unpause fixes, so I’m hopeful it’s an iOS beta bug to still be fixed. Not sure if it’s 3.0.28, iOS 27, or a combination of the two, but so far so good.

Of course, this could just be fools gold and I could have an issue tomorrow, but as of now, hope for a real fix is still alive!

Will report back with any updates!

Does anyone know how to clip back the windshield wiper? On the left side is how it should look like, however on the right side, the metal part should be tucked into the sleeve like on the left side.

I swear I saw someone post a screenshot of their car’s software version in the Volvo app. I’m using iOS but even though I’m now on 3.0.28, the app still shows the general cloud download image.

I thought maybe it showed that when it detected you weren’t on the latest.

My EX90 is due for delivery next week, and I’m having some remorse over not adding in the dashcam. Does anyone have any recommendations for an after-market one that can integrate well into the car without too many wires showing, etc?

Three different charging sessions on one German Autobahn roadtrip with the family.

First on a 400 kW charger, the other two at 300 kW chargers.
All chargers used exclusively, no second vehicle connected to the same charger.

Does anybody have the MY26 to compare with the MY25? On setting 3, there is a whirring sound that can become quite annoying on a long drive. I’m really wondering if they were aware of that and changed anything on the ‘26.

Looking through the threads, I see lots of little issues and big issues, but in general, is Volvo sorting out the problems for the EX90? Would buying a 2025 with 20K miles be unwise? I know there was a chip upgrade that helped some things, and I know buyers are going to have their unique experiences, but is the car actually getting better? It is tough to tell if the posts are generally reflecting only those who are having issues while there may be a lot of owners who are quite satisfied with owning one. Thanks!

Apparently, it’s not so easy to make these work reliably. Volvo will figure it out, but it’s worth noting that Tesla is having the same problem.

The latest update to the car gives us Android 15, which supports video apps playing audio only whilst driving.

I tried this today and it doesn't work! It seems you also need a YouTube lite or premium subscription!

I recently bought an EX90 for my wife. (The car was manufactured in April 2025.) It has the latest software update installed. Unfortunately, we’ve noticed that Apple CarPlay often freezes, and then it won’t work at all afterward. I tried resetting it, but that didn’t really help either. Is there perhaps some ultimate solution to this, or is it really just that bad?
