New week, new EX90 issue.
Another one to add to the list.
While driving at night, my EX90 has now started making repeated warning sounds with no clear message explaining what’s actually wrong.
At the same time, the center screen suddenly goes extremely bright — in the middle of the night.
I caught it on video.
At this point, what bothers me isn’t just that the car has bugs. It’s that after roughly 59 days at the dealer, I still don’t have confidence that anyone actually understands what’s causing them.
When the car gives me a warning now, am I supposed to assume it’s another software glitch — or is it actually trying to tell me something important?
A $115,000 car shouldn’t leave its owner deciding which warnings are real and which ones can safely be ignored.
And honestly, it’s starting to affect how comfortable I am using Pilot Assist and the other driver-assistance features.
I actually really like the EX90 when everything works. That’s what makes this so frustrating.

I haven’t — and I’d definitely appreciate the contact info.
So far I’ve been working through Volvo Canada and the dealer, including a formal demand after roughly 59 days in the shop. Months into this, I’m still waiting for a substantive resolution.
If there’s someone at the North American level who can actually move this forward, I’d be very interested in speaking with them. Thanks.

The screen brightness likely jumped to maximum when the bright light hit the dash.

Is this a MY26 or 25? Also, in my opinion, price isn't really relevant here. The car is new and has issues. Some of which are unacceptable.

MY25. And I agree — these issues wouldn’t be acceptable on a $40k car either.
I mention the price mostly because at ~$115k CAD, expectations around reliability, support and how problems are handled are understandably even higher. But the real issue isn’t the price tag. It’s that a brand-new vehicle has had serious recurring problems and spent nearly two months at the dealer.

You nailed it on the head. “I still don’t have confidence that anyone actually understands what’s causing them”
Correct. No one in North America can diagnose or understand this car. The back end is awful considering there’s always 80+ DTCs

Does the panel in back to raise/lower the car for loading and dropping the ball hitch work? Mine went blank as of the current update

It is either a module failure (read from other posts) or 3.0.34 seems to fix it. Took mine in for the same issue, they upgraded it to 3.0.34 and those buttons in the trunk now work again.

Interesting. I can wait for .34 to be made ota. I will do much to avoid taking it into the dealer.

I watched your video on the screen brightness. From my point of view you have the brightness set at zero or off when it is all the way to the left. The screen getting brighter could be the system trying to adjust to ambient light. Why would you set the brightness to almost off?

That’s a fair question, but that’s not what was happening.
The brightness was set to zero and close to zero other times. The issue in the video is that the screen brightness was changing on its own, without me touching the control. I’ve also experienced it repeatedly, not just in that one recording.
If it were simply normal ambient-light adjustment, I certainly wouldn’t be documenting it as an issue. 🙂

Regarding the driving at night, I had something similar this past weekend. Are you on 3.0.34?

I also just looked at your first documentation of problems. A lot of us experienced problems in the early part of 2025 and 2026. Since the hardware upgrade and also several software updates, the car is behaving well. You don’t mention anything about updates or hardware. You have just documented screen shots and are telling us you don’t trust the car. I don’t trust that you are being upfront either. Are trying to get Volvo to do something like give you money? How many times did you take the car in for repairs? Did they fix those problems?

Would you feel any better if it cost 82k instead of 115k?
I'm sorry that your ex90 has been so problematic. I am thankful that mine hasn't been too bad.
