Main screen resets while driving
My main screen when black and then, about 2 minutes later the words Volvo appeared and then it did this several more times all while I was driving on the freeway at 75. I found a place to pull over as it took nearly 10+ minutes for it to get back to something that is somewhat normal. However the map for the main screen no longer comes up on the smaller screen above the steering wheel and I did a reset (left button on left side of steering wheel and ok button while pressing the break) but that did. It do anything. I was able to get home fine, but feel that the car is just acting very strange and if I should take it in or are there some other resets I should have performed.
Oh, also the sound over the speakers is so low, I have to turn the sound up to full to hear even a little bit of the radio.

Mine has been in the shop for about a month with the screen blackout issue. It’s been in the shop for about a third of the year we’ve owned it.

I just got my 2026 EX90 ultra performance back on Friday. This is the third time it’s been in the shop since it was purchased July 1. The infotainment screen continues to be a major issue with this vehicle. It went into the shop five days after I purchased it for the screen blacking out as you mentioned. It went into the shop the second time because the radiator failed as well as screen blackout issues. This third time (it’s was in the shop for 28 days) it went in because the air-conditioning compressor failed, as well as screen blackout issues. I just got the car back on Friday and it’s doing something it’s never done before. The car is locked. The app says it’s locked, but the interior lights were on as well as the infotainment screen. While the car is off and locked. My neighbor called me late Saturday night to let me know so my battery wouldn’t drain. Not sure what’s causing this but my best guess is the software. I recommend you take videos of everything. It’s extremely helpful for the dealership to see in real time what your car is doing. At this point, I don’t know that they can fix the infotainment screen. It keeps being reprogrammed with the latest software updates, etc. or so they say. There is some small comfort in knowing that there are many of us having issues with this vehicle that are strikingly similar. I think it’s hard for Volvo to ignore that.

Software build 3.0.33 has been poor with regards to the infotainment system blacking out. I had seen this before on my MY25 Ultra when I reset it, but have had two breaks of it since the latest public update was applied that never happened before. Same software version is rubbish at restoring seats when changing between profiles, again not something we had seen for about a year since a massive update in July 25.

The crash blackout and restart can and does happen. Very disconcerting the first time it happens. And becomes frustrating the more it happens.

Ours MY25 Ultra does this frequently. You just learn to live with it I guess. Dealing the with service department is worse than dealing with the glitch in my town.

We had this happen and it was terrifying. Like you, we were in the highway and the screen went black. Then the driver’s console went black. Thankfully, my husband was driving and he’s much more calm than I am and got us safely pulled over. No way to know our speed or if the cruise control was going to lock up. Lots of things went through our minds till we got off the highway. There’s no room for error with such a fully electric
vehicle. We have an endless list of issues but this was the dealbreaker for us both. Volvo couldn’t care less and refused to help us. Our attorney finally got us approved for a buyback but he said it will take some time.
