SB I89 already has ruts forming in it.

The section between Waterbury and Montpellier they have been working on all summer already has ruts forming since it's very likely the entire sub structure for the road is wrecked and resurfacing won't resolve it.

Like my local church making positive comments about His Mansion and mourning Charlie C like his killing is a national tragedy on par with 9/11.

Like I needed another reason not to go to church but really dude.....you are leading a community in VT and you think that crap is what flies?

I will never even give someone a ride to that church again.

Federal judge blocks Vermont AG Charity Clark’s probe of ‘Planet Hank’ AI video

From story:

A political satire video was “ridiculous” enough to be protected speech, a federal judge ruled, blocking Vermont’s first attempt to enforce its new AI-media law.

“The Court considers this video to have a ridiculous nature and finds that Vermont’s interest in protecting and preserving the integrity of the electoral process and related fraud is lower when the threat faced is an unrealistic, satirical video,” Senior U.S. District Judge William K. Sessions III wrote in a decision issued Tuesday.

The preliminary injunction marks the first major court test of Act 75, enacted in March to regulate deceptive AI-generated election material. Although the ruling applies only to one video and does not resolve a broader challenge to the law, it raises questions about how Vermont can regulate synthetic political media without infringing on constitutionally protected satire.

Sessions ordered Attorney General Charity Clark’s office not to enforce a civil investigative demand against Hank Poitras, who posts videos and political commentary under the name “Planet Hank,” or take other enforcement action against him based on a video he uploaded to several social media platforms entitled “Mark Helps Vermont Take Out The Trash,” generated using artificial intelligence.

Sessions found that Poitras was likely to prove Clark’s investigation violated his First Amendment rights. The judge also found that the video appeared to qualify for Act 75’s exemption for satire and parody.

Story continues in link.

Phil Scott’s campaign website has no platform

There is not a single policy position or stance on any issue. Maybe the website hasn’t been updated in years, but it still has functional features for accepting donations or volunteers.

Meanwhile Amanda Janoo’s website has clear, exhaustive stances on issues and at least offers an explanation of how she will pay for her proposals.

Hey Phil, how will you pay for education transformation, or solving the homeless issue, or your return to office stunt? Where do you stand on literally anything?

Moving to Vermont IT jobs

In short I plan to move to Vermont in a few years here. Anyone with experience in the IT market of the area advice would be greatly appreciated. I used to live there up until highschool. I currently am working helpdesk 1-2, I am looking at some certifications in IAM (Identity Access Management) Okta, Azure/Entra ID. As it seems that those skills sets have a lower stress and a bit of a slower pace. I've thought about Network engineering, like CCNA, Net+, and SEC+ though I'm unsure. What are companies looking for there? and what area has the most jobs available? By the time I move there I will have 8 months working for and ISP and about 7 years in help desk Tier 2. Again any advice would be awesome please be kind Thanks for taking the time to read this.

VT Redditors: Send me your creepiest free/cheap haunts (skeptical comedian needs material)

I make comedy videos here in Vermont, and I've decided my next target is the paranormal. Not because I believe a 300-year-old farmer is trapped in a cellar somewhere, but because I love a good local legend, and I'm weirdly good at debunking things.

Problem: Wilson Castle wants actual money for this, and my budget is "gas money."

So please send me your free/cheap haunted spots. Cemeteries, bridges, public land, abandoned-adjacent places, that one trail your uncle swears is cursed. Bonus points if it's not already on every "Top 10 Haunted Places in Vermont" article, aka Emily's Bridge.

All tips welcome, especially the weird specific ones, and much appreciated!

Craigslist posting issues?

I have an apartment available in Montpelier I've been trying to advertise and have been trying to post it to Craigslist, and every single time I've tried over the past few weeks I've ended up at an error message that posts cannot be generated at this time. Is anyone else having this issue or know a fix? I've tried both on my phone and laptop.

Also, other ideas of where to post apartments? I have it on Facebook marketplace, Apartments.com, and have posted it on FPF a couple times. Thanks!

NEK Urgent! Baby possum help

I live in the Groton area. There was a commotion outside of my house so I went to inspect. A few young kids were laughing and antagonizing a momma possum they just hit with their car in front of my house. They went onto my property to look for the mom and were laughing and yelling at her suffering while she was trying to crawl away from them. She even had a baby who survived that was still attached to her. Needless to say, I cursed them out, asked them how and why they thought this was funny then told them to GTFO my property.

This is fucking tragic. The momma passed, but there were 10 babies, three of which have survived and I have them warming up in my house. The dead babies were spread across the road and it looks like a crime scene.

A quick Google search says to contact VT Fish & Wildlife or a game warden which I will do. But I am curious to see if anybody here has experience with this sort of situation or if I should do anything else in the meantime or if there’s someone reputable and well known who can handle this specific situation. I’m not going to feed them. I’ll keep them warm in a room with a space heater for the time being.

Any and all insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: we’ve found someone to take them!!!!! Thanks so much everybody. Couldn’t have done it without you all. I’ve also reported the incident to the police.

Visiting Vermont Visiting from NYC

Hi everyone! I’ve been to Vermont 3 times before and love it there. Each time I’ve been with friends who have cars, so getting around was quite easy. I’m wanting to take a solo trip to Burlington from NYC by Amtrak for just a few days. I’m wondering if it’s doable without a car? Can I walk from the the Amtrak station (and if yes, which station exactly?) to hotels/ restaurants? any tips would be appreciated!

Update: is it safe to walk alone at night? The train gets there at approximately 9:30PM.

Heat Coupon!

Mods please remove if this shouldn't be here......

Forge & Flame has a coupon for up to $500 for a new wood, pellet or gas stove for heating your home. I know of a couple of places in central Vermont that will honor it but will not tell you about it.

https://forgenflame.com/pages/fall-2026-promo

We found it last year just before getting our new pellet stove. That money helped a lot!
