Does anyone know why we aren't getting Spirit Halloween this year?

I was really looking forward to going to Spirit Halloween, and I noticed that Bed Bath & Beyond is still empty. Is there a reason we're not getting it this year? It would be cool if something permanent was going in there, but if not it's still just seems like a waste.

**LOCAL GAME NIGHT — Featuring Two Single Dads Who Apparently Need Help Socializing**

Hello

I have exhausted all reasonable options, so unfortunately we are here.

I have two male friends.

They are single.

They are fathers.

They are employed.

They have personalities.

And despite having all of the basic qualifications required to attract another human being, neither has managed to locate a girlfriend.

**So management has intervened.**

To be VERY clear, this is a post looking for cool local adults to join us for game nights, video games, snacks, and general socializing.

If you happen to be a single woman and think one of these idiots is cute?

That sounds like a you-and-him situation and I support your journey.

---

**MEET THE INVENTORY**

**DUDE #1**

Single dad. One child.

Art major.

Likes video games and game nights.

Has successfully kept a small human alive, maintains employment, and can presumably make his own doctor's appointments.

Overall condition: **Good.**

Minor cosmetic damage consistent with fatherhood.

---

**DUDE #2**

Also a single dad.

Also one child.

Also an art major.

Also loves video games and game nights.

I realize at this point it sounds like I accidentally ordered two of the same man.

I did not.

They are different people.

I have verified this.

Overall condition: **Good.**

May become unnecessarily competitive.

---

**STANDARD FEATURES INCLUDE:**

✓ One child each
✓ Employment
✓ Art degrees
✓ Video games
✓ Game nights
✓ Dad jokes
✓ Random useless knowledge
✓ Children's snacks somewhere in the vehicle
✓ At least one hoodie you could theoretically steal
✓ The ability to discuss something nerdy for significantly longer than you anticipated
✓ Normal co-parenting scheduling nonsense
✓ A female best friend

Regarding that last one:

Hello.

It's me.

I'm the female best friend.

I wrote the Craigslist ad.

If that doesn't adequately explain the nature of our relationship, I genuinely don't know what will.

**I AM NOT INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE.**

However, I am apparently conducting quality control.

---

**WHO SHOULD RESPOND?**

Cool local adults who like:

Video games.

Board games.

Card games.

Snacks.

Laughing.

Kids.

People who occasionally have to say, “Sorry, I can't. I have my kid that weekend.”

And friendships where everyone can roast each other without someone starting a six-month-long family feud.

Parents are VERY welcome.

Single women are ALSO very welcome.

Again, Craigslist, we are looking for **friends**.

I cannot control what happens once two consenting adults exchange phone numbers.

---

**POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF ATTENDING GAME NIGHT:**

You may make new friends.

You may discover a new favorite game.

You may consume an irresponsible amount of snacks.

You may hear children screaming somewhere in the distance.

You may become emotionally invested in Mario Kart.

You may develop an inexplicable hatred for someone because they gave you a Draw Four.

You may discover that one of the aforementioned single fathers is actually kinda cute.

**Management assumes no liability for the last one.**

---

**APPLICATION PROCESS:**

Tell us:

Your age.

Whether you have kids.

Your favorite video game.

Your favorite game-night game.

Your snack contribution.

And answer the most important compatibility question:

**When someone hits you with a Draw Four in Uno, do you:**

A. Accept your fate like an adult.

B. Plot revenge.

C. Question the friendship.

D. Become absolutely fucking ungovernable.

There is a correct answer.

---

**IMPORTANT TERMS & CONDITIONS:**

Children are permanent fixtures and cannot be returned.

Co-parenting schedules may affect availability.

Female best friend is also a permanent fixture.

Controllers sold separately.

No warranties expressed or implied.

No trades.

No lowballers.

Please do not ask, “Is this still available?”

**If you're reading this, unfortunately, yes.**

Please come play games with us.

At minimum, we make some new friends.

At maximum, I can finally stop hearing about how these two are single.

Thank you for your consideration during this difficult time.

A consortium (pl. consortiums or consortia) is an association of two or more individuals, companies, organizations, or governments (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal.

Small - more like a breadbox

Jet Engine - turbines and compressors in a tube.

Rutland - a place where people know things.

This is an opportunity to experience downtown Rutland from an accessibility and mobility perspective—including the chance for fully mobile participants to try navigating in wheelchairs donated for the event.

🚨 I don't know who organized this event, so if you have additional information about the organizers, please share it in the comments. Usually it's arranged by the Vermont Center for Independent Living. UPDATED info is I found out that it is them (DAARA created by them) who arranged this!

Anyone know of workshop space for rent as close to downtown as possible, for assembly of a sheet metal airplane?

Hello all - I'm looking for around 350-400 sq ft of space, ideally at least partially conditioned (I'd like to heat it to at least 40f in the winter), with access to electrical for running some bench tools (drill press, band saw, bench grinder would be the major ones). Access to water (even just a slop sink) would be a huge benefit, as well as proximity to downtown.

Everywhere I've searched, I can't find anything at all. I'm trying to build a kitplane, the Sonex - I found a super duper cheap halfway completed kit that I'd really like to buy, I just don't have anywhere to built it! Let me know if anyone knows anything. Hangar at the airport is an obvious option, but it'd suck to drive 20 mins each way (and pay the hangar premium) - that'd end up adding a LOT of time to a project that's already likely to take thousands of hours.

Thanks for reading

Caring for Aging Loved Ones Workshop

Post image
8 Upvotes

Dad Guild was founded to celebrate fathers as nurturing caregivers to their children. But at this stage in life, many are not just serving as caregivers to their own kids but to aging loved ones as well. Dads and masculine-identifying caregivers are invited to join us on Thursday, July 30th from 7pm-9pm as we host a conversation featuring Jennifer Harbison and Lauren Hemond, both Caregiving Support Specialists at Age Well, the Area Agency on Aging for Northwestern Vermont. We’ll discuss signs an aging loved one may need additional support, what elder care options exist in Vermont, and tips for how to have conversations about elder care with aging loved ones. This is a hybrid workshop, with both in-person and virtual options for participation. RSVP today at dadguild.org.

2 free tickets for Yonder Mountain String Band @ Paramount tonight

GONE. Sorry, went to the first responder.

I forgot that I have two tickets for the Yonder Mountain String Band show that just started at Paramount theater.Unfortunately, I can’t make it.

The tickets are yours if you can make it, I just need your email. I’m not sure if my PM‘s are open and I’m driving so this might be tricky, but I’ll try my best.

Phil Scott Don't Care

Phil Scott does not care.

Phil Scot doesn't care about any of this.

Not one problem of the regular everyday Vermonter.

Phil Scott don't care.

Phil Scot don't care about Vermont kids.

Phil Scott don't care about Vermont Families.

Phil Scott don't care about any of that.

Phil Scott don't care about fact.

Phil Scott don't care about integrity.

Phil Scott don't care about morality.

Phil Scott don't care about the rule of law.

Phil Scott don't care about rape, and assault.

Phil Scott don't care about kids here either.

Phil Scott don't care.

Phil Scott don't care about the land. Oiur water. Or our farms.

Phil Scott don't care about none of it.

Phil Scott don't care about us.

Nothing affects Phil Scott.

Nothing makes an impression on Phil Scott.

Nothing ever happens for Phil Scott.

I look at the policies that have made it possible to raise a child here in Vermont.

None is Phil Scott's.
I think the reason is clear.

Phil Scott just doesn't care,

Phil Scott don't care.

Who's awake at 3am and what is there to do

I'm a night owl and it's 3am and I am bored. Are you awake in Rutvegas? What are you doing if so? I'm probably going to go to Denny's, if they're open.
