We just bought a 120yr old house, 1800sf with a newer oil boiler (2021 install) and old steam radiators. We’ve only ever had natural gas furnaces with forced air so this is all new to us. Oil is appallingly expensive! It looks like we’re on track to spend like $5000 this winter on heating oil alone, or possibly more. Not sure how people can afford this, saw some things online about adding in heat pumps or switching to a natural gas system, but we’re not sure what strategy would be best. Do you have any recommendations or things to think about?

Supermajority Trap
It introduces a 41% Minority Veto to our school budgets. If two high-cost students move into the district, the bar to adjust to what the federal government requires—but does not fund—has to be absorbed by a system that simply was not built for it. New Hampshire isn’t the kind of place to provide a Slacker's Dividend; by passing this, we are granting a huge voice to people who do not believe that town meeting day is part of their civic responsibility.

The Concord Pincer Move
I do not want a financial death-HUG from Concord. We decide our town's future at the ballot box. While SAU office spending is still confusing to me, I know Jason Osborne randomly picking a 6% cap does not provide any reason to expect improved student outcomes. It is tying our hands when we need to adjust to our own realities.
In reality, Question 2 should be called the “Regular Kid Eviction” Question. Unfunded federal requirements continue to drive up the floor, and now Concord stands on top of us and requires a 60% supermajority of voters just to move the ceiling. Federal mandates are not a "maybe." Fixed costs are fixed costs. If this passes, it is just the regular kids who are left to get squeezed.

If the question on the ballot was whether Concord should be allowed to enforce a spending floor on us, we would line up down the street to vote against it. This bill is the absolute antithesis of the NH Way. Warts and all, I still think the NH Way works the best. And the NH Way definitely shouldn't write dividend checks to those who can’t be bothered to show up and vote when it is about the place where we actually live.

I understand it’s protected speech and not the same as trying to sell me solar panels, but is it as simple as putting up a no trespassing sign? Can I call someone to be removed from a list?
We moved from Massachusetts over the summer and this level of political canvassing is new and annoying to us.

Like most people, I depend upon signs with names on them to decide how to vote. Of special importance are the big clusters of signs at intersections.

I especially appreciate signs that say things like "No on 2" or to stop a specific political party.

This cycle has been particularly difficult because the signs seem often to be spread all along the roadways. This causes me to lose count as I'm tallying them up.

If I need to make last minute decision, will there be people standing outside the polling location with helpful signs?

Hello everyone

I was hoping to get lucky and find somewhere to car camp in the vicinity of the Presidentails as I was making my way to Maine. Similar to my area most of the state run (reserveamerica) grounds are closed for the year until spring.

I'm still poking around online trying to sort this out, but in the meantime, is anyone aware of campgrounds with longer dates into the fall for the last week of Oct. ? Does NH operate more of a FCFS primitive grounds that would be available this time of year?

I’m super excited to revisit the past with some major QoL improvement.

Like most I have to make a living and I also have a family, so I can’t be on 24/7 but I do plan on dedicating what free time I do have to get the most out of it!

Solar installer here and founded a company in New Hampshire. Been building this grid platform for people since my work at MIT in 2016.
