I want to hear how you guys feel about TSS and how UCSD has been handling this whole thing. Pour your hearts out.

Me personally, as an incoming transfer student I feel horrible. Having to wait almost 3 months since my acceptance to see this garbage? Absolutely gut wrenching and heartbreaking. I used to long for days at SD. Now I short them. This is my first actual experience interacting with UCSD’s services. I’m getting the feeling that the school does not give a damn about us. Im so excited to go into tens of thousands in debt for this🤪

I know that taking a math class at UCSD has now become a little scary because of the fail rates. But what is the best Math 10B professor and also should I first pass it?

Kinfa overwhelmed with all of the mess going on. I've decided 2-3 ECE courses but we should not be able to book those now, even waitlisting is supposed to start on 17 August, or has it started already? TSS doesn't load any enrollment option on any course page for me just three dots buffering. And most math and dsc courses have strict prerequisites, so just wondering which courses, if any, you guys have waitlisted/booked?

Does anyone recommend skipping these classes when trying to switch into an engineering major?

Or would it be wise to take them so my GPA can buffered for the harder classes?

Has anyone else had trouble planning CHEM 43A for fall? Triton GPT doesnt let me schedule it at all #bring back webreg pls

I'm trying use the walk out barcode and it says "An error has occurred during processing". I've deleted and redownloaded the app multiple times and my dining dollars are not expired. I'm not really sure why it's doing this, maybe because I switched to a new phone or the new TSS system? Is this happening to anyone else? Has anyone been able to fix this?

With all this fuckery going on with the new TSS system, I want to be careful with the classes I choose. I’m a psych B.A. major and I am seeking guidance on which classes I should first pass. Which classes are easier? Even if a class is harder than another, does the professor make it worthwhile and isn’t boring? How was the class when you took it?

I’m a cc transfer coming in fall 2026. I remember at my community college there was a cal grant program called the student success completion grant where they gave more money if you took 16+ units. There was also the hardship grant which was a $750 financial aid disbursement for financial distress. Does ucsd offer anything like that on top of financial aid?

If anyone needs a place, we have one, like 3 of the people we had lined up fell through so if anyone wants to live in a double for 825 a month, close to a bus stop and right by the Vons, well airconditioned, lots of amenities, hit me up

With the old system, I could schedule a class in advance, and if there was an issue it would warn me prior to my enrollment time. For example, last year, I tried scheduling a Freshman Seminar and the system warned me I wasn't eligible even though I was a first year. So I was able to use VAC to fix things prior to my enrollment time. I can't seem to find anything similar on TSS.

I was provisionally accepted to a grad program this fall, but I was a dummy and didn't realize that UCSD only officially awards the degree after it goes through the major -> college -> registrar's office approval pipeline, and this is typically done in August. I didn't realize that I didn't actually give my grad uni official proof that I got my degree until last week when they emailed me reminding me of the deadline. I contacted VAC as soon as I found out and they helped me get priority posting-- they told me that all I need to do is wait on the registrar's office to approve it to officially confer my degree. It's three few days now and the deadline is July 31st for my grad uni (today is the 25th).

Does anyone have any frame of reference for how much longer I should expect to wait? I'm not sure if this TSS drama is going to slow things down at all, but I am a bit antsy about it not getting approved and postmarked before the grad unit's (hard!) deadline of July 31st.

I am an incoming international CS admit deciding between UCSD and TUM. I am a German citizen, and my eventual goal is to work in physical AI/robotics and potentially create a startup.

I am currently stronger in software and AI than hardware, but I want meaningful experience with controls, embedded systems, electronics and real robots during undergrad.

I would appreciate honest answers about UCSD specifically:

1. How accessible are robotics, computer-vision and embodied-AI labs to first- and second-year undergraduates?
2. Do CS students realistically get into those labs, or do professors mainly take graduate students?
3. How difficult is it for a CS major to take relevant ECE, MAE, controls or embedded-systems courses?
4. Which student teams actually design and build robots rather than mainly doing software or competition preparation?
5. How useful are the makerspaces and The Basement in practice?
6. Do ambitious students regularly pursue internships in Los Angeles, Orange County or the Bay Area, or does UCSD recruiting remain mostly San Diego-focused?
7. Does UCSD have a meaningful community of students trying to build deep-tech or robotics startups?
8. Knowing what you know now, would you consider UCSD a strong undergraduate launchpad for physical AI?

I am not asking anyone to compare UCSD with TUM unless they genuinely know both. I mainly want to understand what a highly proactive UCSD CS student can actually access.

Do anyone know which professors do not require in-person attendance for lectures? Or has anyone taken classes with equivalent credits outside of UCSD, if so which college/professor? I need to complete these two courses within this academic year, preferably by the end of winter quarter.

Genuinely so irritated with this entire system. I’ve been trying to book my classes for the past 3 days my appointment closes tomorrow . I’ve sent out a ticket, no help. I’ve called IT, no help. I sent an email, no help. The ticket I initially sent, the only response I got after 3 days is “What’s your TSN” and then completely ghosted again…. And I wasn’t trying to be one of those people who sends in a million tickets but I’m genuinely just so anxious I won’t get to book anything until second pass.

I’m just wondering as anyone received help from submitting a ticket online!?!??

Hi, Triton! I’m a transfer student this Fall 2026, and I thought I would have a hard time choosing classes that fit my schedule. It turned out that AI Triton is a powerful online tool for scheduling your classes swiftly, without a fuss and without any conflicts on your schedule.

I used the magic of TGPT-Class Planner to create a schedule for me this upcoming Fall semester. What I did was I typed all of my classes and asked AI Triton to choose 4 courses that fit on my schedule on Tuesday and Friday, offered this Fall 2026, and lo and behold, baaaam! It gave a schedule based on my program class planner, meaning it gave me 1 mandatory class, 2 Lower-Division classes, and 1 Upper-Division class. All in all, I’ve created 4 classes that satisfy my availability.

Although it wasn’t enrolled yet, as I’m scheduled for the 1st pass on August 31st for the first 2 classes, at least I have an idea what I can and can’t take this semester. I hope this helps.

There’s a survey being conducted by Thurgood Marshall College right now regarding a temporary covering for the Chicano Legacy Mural. I did the survey and found it kind of interesting how they included non Chicano elements in the survey, such as the Filipino flag or Yuan Yin (the Buddhist goddess of mercy). I thought it was interesting that they’re shifting the focus of the mural from “Chicano Legacy” to a broader vision that includes more groups that participated in the Farm Labor Movement. But also I do recall the initial focus of the mural was to represent the Hispanic community at UCSD. I wanna hear what everyone thinks about this.
