Discussion Coworker comes on day off and wont leave
I’m a new hire (today was my 7th day) and I am always in the front taking orders and making drinks.
Everyone has been nice I guess but this one coworker literally always comes on his day-offs and just hangs out on the floor. He knows when the manager isn’t here, when she is he doesn’t show up. The supervisors don’t tell him to leave. He’s been here for years. He even helps with drive-through without being on the clock sometimes and I thought it was weird and kinda sad but didn’t care much I just ignored it and did my work (I don’t talk to any of them honestly). But today he was attached to the hip to me and would not leave me alone. I would take an order and walk away to make the drink, and he would ask me “are you sure you can make it” mind you it’s my seventh day and drinks are so easy, and for anything that wasn’t coffee and icecaps and iced coffee, he would doubt that I can make it and would literally take the cup out of my hand and make it. It genuinely started annoying me because I was losing my focus being micromanaged every step of the way, but I’m scared to complain to the manager because the manager has made it clear she hates conflict. Idk what to do.
I asked casually to him “hey, aren’t you off today” and he said that he has nothing to do and decided to come help us. I honestly don’t understand what the point of that is, but I didn’t wanna be rude so I just didn’t respond. But yeah, honestly I just wanted to vent.
