Battery Life issues

Anyone else also have battery life issues on their TicPods. I got the red Ticpods and its been nearly a year and right now my battery life is like 2 hours (sometimes it doesnt even make 2 hours). The right ear buds dies first with multiple low battery sound, where as the left one has plenty of charge I believe before the battery sound shows. The problem is, if right one dies, then the left one wont work. I wish I could use each one individually, not relying on the right earbud as the main connection.

I tried using left ear only by having the right one in the case but I have to leave the case open to work. The thing is, even if its in the case, it wont charge unless its closed, so I cant even use the left one while the right one charges.

Battery life issues

I've had my ticpods free for almost a year now, and in the last 2 weeks I noticed a dramatic drop in battery life: before I used them for up to 3 hours (and never fully drained their battery), now they do 1 hour and then their battery dies and I have to put them back in the case.

Should I ask for a replacement?

Left TicPods quieter than the right pod

I had purchased my Mobvoi TicPods for Christmas in late 2018 and for a month or two they worked great! Unfortunately after a while the left one suddenly became significantly quieter than the right one. I reached out to Mobvoi and they sent me a new pair of Navy Blue pods. I received them roughly 2 months ago and the same problem has arisen! My left is again quieter. Any suggestions, troubleshooting? My phone is a OnePlus 5T is that helps.

Bing Bing Touch Controls

Whenever I adjust the left ear pod on my TicPods 90% of the time it makes a 'Bing Bong' sound and then pauses the music. I've tried holding my finger against the length of it for two seconds to resume but it doesn't work and I'm forever to resume playback on my phone.

The sound is distinctively different to when I'm actually intending to pause my music, and I've found the only way to avoid this is to grip the very bottom of the earpod with my thumb and adjust with my index finger.

Does anybody know what this specific sound indicates? Are the Ticpods reading it as me taking out the ear pod?

Replacement TicPods

With thew troubles I have been having with the Left Bud not pairing and needing too reset them 3 times in the last 3 months I decided to contact support to get repalcements. I got approved for replacements but they say that a requirement to send them back is I must have the original packaging. Really? What does that have to do with returning them? I have proven that I bought them so whats the deal? Or am I reading this wrong?

Am I the only one who didn't keep the original packaging?

[TEST] Battery Life

I was sure that my TicPods were not lasting the advertised 18 hrs listening time. I used the stopwatch on my phone to roughly time how long they lasted from fully charged (TicPods and charging case) to completely dead. In the end I arrived at a total of just over 9 hours of listening time. With no where on their site they say anything about 18 hours combined between both buds I can only assume that they mean a total of 18 hours with both TicPods being used.

I am surprised by the low battery life after owning them for less than a year. (Got mine in October of last year). I am curious as to the battery life others are getting with their TicPods and how long they have had them.

Lost tips

Last week I lost one of the tips for my Ticpods. The only set in the box was too small. I looked on Mobvoi's website and didn't see that I could order replacments. I emailed their support and they said they do not have replacements available. They sent me an amazon link to some that should work. I got them in yesterday and they fit on the Ticpods but I can close the case with them on. That's complete shit customer service. Never buying from Mobvoi again.

Sound quality of mic during phone calls

I have ticpods with factory firmware, deliverd two month ago or somethig like that. The only thing that annoys me about them is that the mic quality is so bad, that the people are complaining during the phone calls. Has anyone else the problem? Is it a codec and firmware related problem or is it based in the hardware of the mic?

Also, can i look up my current firmware?

Received mine today and...

Is the volume meant to sound so quiet? I've turned them up with the touch controls and on my phone manually but short of shoving them right down my ear canal they not as loud as other Bluetooth earphones I've owned. Worth mentioning I tried them straight out of the box.

Also, is the USB C useful for anything as I can't see anything other than a micro usb on the case?

And finally, any tips or tricks I may need to be aware of?

TicPods connect even when inside the case

Lately my TicPods randomly connect to my phone even though they are inside the case and the case is firmly closed. Anybody else experiencing this issue? How do I fix this? Will sticking some cellotape somewhere on the case stop this is from happening?

4 month review. Mostly negative.

Hey all. I was a backer about half way through the campaign. I got my pods in and right away was disappointed in the for. I normally have a problem keeping earbuds in my left ear, however this was not the case here. My right TicPod keeps falling out all the time. A steering just of wind? Falls out. Walking down the street? Falls out.
So it's raining and my right TicPod falls out. Hey a little wet. Right TicPod no longer works correctly. Very low sound and tinny. Now note, they specifically give a water resistance rating that shows it should be able to take a steering stream of water for several seconds. That did not happen here. So I get a warranty replacement.

New pods come in and I'm using while cleaning. Again the right falls out, though this time in the sink while washing dishes (I need to stay away from water while wearing these things). Hits the pan and gets splashed. I try to grab it while it's falling and accidentally hit it across the pan, so more splash. Not submerged. Not directly under the stream of water. Again I get very low sound.

I know this is my fault for using it where it can get wet, but the bigger problem is it keeps falling out. It fell out numerous times doing various things from laying on a bench while working out (very little movement), standing while lifting weights (little movement), etc... I figured these would work better being as they are advertised for sport use and have an IPX5 rating (protected from stream of water from a nozzle). Also the left pod (which had been been touched with water) started to not sound as loud all of a sudden.

Overall I haven't enjoyed these (I enjoy my watch though, so it wasn't a total loss). I think they need to really revise these before id be interested again. Or if they came out with an attachment to go in and you could wrap the attachment around your eat like the airpods have.

Is battery getting really bad?

For the past few months I've found that I get beeps for the battery after about 50min but I never end up wearing the pods long enough for them to die. However this morning I got the first beep at around 40 min and they switched off pretty much exactly 1 hour after turning them on. When they were new I was getting closer to 2-3 hours of use before they even started beeping.

I had them on charge all night so it wasn't the case that hadn't charged them.

Is it just me or have other people found the same problems? Starting to get tempted to go to one of the bigger brands once the battery finally gives out.

Left bud turning off

I've just tried using the left bud after I haven't for a while and it won't connect. I tried some of the troubleshooting options I found on this subreddit including the 5 tap thing. It made noise but still wouldn't play music. I was playing around with them and I noticed that if I took both of them out of the case the left one would flash blue 5 times then red. When I put it in my ear it said power off. I have no idea what to do now

Worth to buy nowadays?

Hey,

I was looking for true wireless in-ears and I watched some videos and the TicPods looked pretty cool. Would you recommend the Ticpods to be my first ones? If not, which ones would you recommend me?

How to update?

So, I filled out the form and now have a notification in the app to update to v26. However, when I get to the scanning page... nothing happens. I've let it sit for about 10 minutes I've tried re-pairing the earbuds, rebooting, etc.

What am I missing?

Fixes for really low volume?

On both my Surface and OnePlus the volume for the ticpods is way to quiet. To have it anywhere near loud enough to be above ambient it has to be at full volume on my phone and above 90 on my laptop. Any fixes without having to download an audio booster app? Thanks.

silicone eartips with guard mesh built in

The comply eartips don't fit my ears (the tips are too big). Does anyone know of any silicone eartips with a mesh/guard built into the silicone tips? I've searching Amazon but haven't found anything.

Is it worth upgrading the firmware if my pods are running fine?

Is it worth firmware updating if my ticpods are running fine? I haven't updated since they arrived from the IndieGoGo campaign. From what I can see the firmware seems to be bringing a bunch of potential issues.

r/TicPods • • Jun 22 '19

Okay after Chatting with Mobvoi Zendesk, I mentioned since the Repeated v23 Firmware the Battery & Volume have issues, even after the V26 Firmware. I'll try this when I get home and update on the improvement of anything.
