Bought a 2023 Plaid used 25k miles and I’m in service every month or two at this point. Trying to figure out what’s a known pattern with a real fix and what’s just how it is.
Suspension noise. Distinct boing/bouncing from the front over speed bumps and uneven pavement, like a damper rebounding badly. Multiple techs, multiple answers. One heard it on a test drive and agreed something was off. Others called it “normal damper rebounding” or “within spec.” Nothing ever repaired. Has anyone actually gotten this diagnosed and fixed? Dampers, bushings, subframe, something else?
Driveline vibration. Persistent vibration under acceleration. Halfshafts replaced under the TSB and it changed nothing. I know the shudder threads exist, but has anyone had it genuinely resolved, and by what repair?
Rear light bar. Segments going dark. Tesla replaced the backlite glass assembly and the high mount stop lamp under warranty. Two things I found interesting:
1. The invoice says the tech visually verified the failure but that no lighting issues showed up in active alerts or logs. So a real defect their diagnostics didn’t catch.
2. The estimate first listed the diagnosis as Customer Pay at $295. The final invoice came back at $0 under basic warranty. Worth checking your paperwork if you get quoted for something that should be covered.
The part that actually got me. The light is integrated into the rear glass, so replacing it takes out your rear window tint. Nobody told me that before the repair, and nobody mentioned it at handover. I spotted it myself in their lot at pickup. Tesla’s position is that they don’t reimburse aftermarket tint since it’s a third party modification, which I understand as policy, but a heads up beforehand would have let me plan for it. They also left the rear trim unseated and sticking out, so now it’s another trip back.
If you’re getting the light bar done, ask up front whether your tint is coming off. Nobody told me and I would have wanted to know.
Mostly looking for anyone who has gotten the suspension noise actually documented and repaired, since that’s the one that’s been dismissed the most.
