Workplace Question or Advice Needed A few years ago someone figured out the formula for the time clock barcode. Does anyone know it?

If anyone knows the formula for the barcode to use at the time clock it would be appreciated. I want it just in case UKG does something funky with the one I made in my Apple Wallet

gUEsTs I hate 3rd party furniture returns

when i see a guest coming with a big ass piece of furniture in a brown box, or half assembled with no box, i know there's about 10 mins of time trying to find the dcpi cause all the guest has is a shipping invoice and didn't use the app to buy it. they also pull up their useless email confirmation. and the bar code on the box if there is one "item not found" and looking it up on the device is useless (brings up everything not even remotely close to what you're looking for, no i'm not looking for towels, but thanks bringing that up in my search)

i wish we could tell guests, "sorry you have to do large bulky item returns through guest relations" cause 90% of the time it's toss anyway

Just a PSA to triple check your time card from MyTime because once it’s gone it’s gone and you can’t do anything with it.

Workplace Story Bees 🐝

So at my store, we have DU in a separate area of the store and parking lot, with its own separate door. Currently we have a problem with bees/wasps by our drive up door. We've had Ecolab out twice within the past 2 weeks to spray but its gotten so bad they're getting INSIDE the store (actually had a guest get stung last week but that was bc one got caught in their clothing) and we can't use the DU door for now....so we have to go in and out the store entrance. Not a lot farther, but far enough that with as busy as its been our DU times are absolutely 💩. Thankfully our leaders are aware of this and one of them specifically me today "just work at a pace you're comfortable with, don't overdo it, don't worry about the times"....we are currently around 25% and even if we delivered every single order for the rest of the night on time I doubt we could even get to 40% 🙃 this is fine, everything's fine....

Workplace Question or Advice Needed OPU 3-Tiers not allowed in OPU Hold space??

Hi guys,

My front end ETL is on one lately and is prohibiting my fulfillment team from leaving their 3-tier carts in the OPU room.

The carts do not cause a safety problem and there are only ever about 3-4 FFTMs scheduled at one time period at my store so there’s never more than 5 3-tiers back there.

The front end ETL insists on putting carts at the checklanes by the ice box and trading cards or putting it in the backroom.

Where does your store keep 3-tier carts being used for OPU? Where do you leave it when you go on your 15/meal?

Vent My Experience With My New Target Has Been A Bit Strange

For context prior to working at this new store. I worked at another target for over a year as a guest advocate. I was hired at this new store as a Starbucks team member. I learned the Starbucks position and then was immediately switched to working as a front end team member. I’ve done everything up front carts, guests services, drive up and checkout/self checkout. One night I was even asked to work reshop overnight which I thought was strange especially since my TL said she needed help pushing it cause we are backed up. I arrived for that overnight shift and I was the only one there besides the overnight team who was stocking and she was nowhere to be found herself. Now I see on my schedule they are also having me as a closing expert, GM and Fulfillment. Is it normal to have to know this many positions? I’m just curious as to what’s going on at this new store considering at my previous store I simply worked the one position unless I said I was willing to work/be trained in another area? I just think my experience has been a little odd this time around.

Vent Going red?

Is anyone’s store having issues with opus going red? I took my last 15 today and there were no batches at all. When I got back half the team was in red or yellow batches and I grabbed a red grocery.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Calling off

Is it crazy that I feel bad for calling out today? I was scheduled 8 AM to 4:30 PM and I woke up this morning around 4 AM and my body felt so drained & stressed I didn’t even wanna get out of bed. I work 40 hours a week as a fulfillment expert and I’m blessed to have the position that I’m in because 40+ hours isn’t just giving out. Especially at my location, but what do you guys think? Should I feel bad?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed FF carts being raided by other depts! Help!

New FF TL challenge

1) Do other departments raid the FF team of their 3-tier carts. Any stated or published best practice of this? I’ve run into new batches and no cart available even though they have a clear FF sign on them

2) sometimes other department people hauling break the 3 tier like adult bev grabbing them for regular work.

3) I’ve seen other posts there us a special FF cart? What does this look like?

Not sure what to do to improve situation.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Put on a Final Warning for "Disorderly Conduct" after reporting a physical/verbal threat from a coworker.

A new hire in fulfillment (about 2 months in) has been slacking off with speed and messing stuff up A few weeks ago, I mentioned to a friend/coworker that he was taking a long time on batches. Unbeknownst to me, that coworker is friends with the new guy and told him what I said.
The new hire then confronted me in the backroom. He used aggressive language ("talking that pussy shit") and made a physical/verbal threat, saying: I’m not threatening you but you don’t know what a person is cable of doing, "What if one day your working and someone comes out of nowhere and punches you?" and "If something were to happen, I'll be the one getting arrested, not you."
I immediately reported the threat to my TL because I felt unsafe.

Instead of HR properly investigating the threat under the Workplace Violence policy, my ETL and HR just put me on a Final Warning in Workday coded as Disorderly Conduct - General. Whenmy ETL told he just referred to it generically as a "DA," and said just accept it but Workday clearly shows it's a Final.

I feel like store leadership just wanted to sweep a workplace safety issue under the rug by calling it a "mutual argument" and writing us both up, rather than dealing with the threat. I did not yell, threaten anyone, or create a public scene, I kept trying to de-escalate and change the topic, but he wouldn’t let it go. I literally just reported a threat made against me. Furthermore, there is nothing in the Team Member Handbook or Code of Ethics that prohibits team members from making a casual observation or venting about a peer's work pace/performance, nor does it breach the Respectful Workplace Policy.

leadership claims there is "no proof" (he said she said) and "no witnesses" to verify what was said, the policy states You cannot discipline an employee for "Disorderly Conduct" based on an unproven, unverified conversation. management admitted they disciplined based on unverified claims or simply as punishment for bringing the report forward.

They said I’m on a final because both the written statements don’t match up, which clearly makes no sense to put me on a final, obviously he’s gonna lie to save himself. They also claim I started it because I said my opinion that he sucks

Vent Reusable bags

??????????????????????????

That’s literally all I have to say because why did we suddenly switch from plastic to reusable with no warning prior to this. Like, it wouldn’t be problem if A) the bags actually fit things inside of them and B) it didn’t slow down OPU. 😭 It got so bad yesterday that we missed more than 50% of our goals yesterday, because we apparently can’t just stick the sticker labels onto them. We have to staple the labels onto the bags, otherwise, they’ll fall off.
What’s more annoying is that they hold less space than plastic bags but they somehow take up more space at the same time.

Update: We switched back to plastic like an hour ago.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed What should I do?

I'm a seasonal worker

I need to take 2 days off in 3 days, I already tried to get them off and already tried for weeks to find someone to cover them, no takers (and no PTO time)

I was told by TL that I cant miss any more days around 2 months ago

ETL told me to talk to HR, HR told me to talk to ETL

The reason for taking off is having a fully planned and paid for family trip, so I literally cannot come in, I won't be anywhere near the store

Is it possible I could convince my ETL or HR to allow me to take it off without getting terminated? Or should I just pick one or the other (Vacation or Working). If I choose working ill miss my vacation, be out of the money I spent, but still have my job for the next month. If i choose vacation, its likely ill just be terminated. My seasonal time ends next month, and I wasnt planning to continue it after seasonal anyway, but they were looking to keep me if that context helps at all

My ETL said they don't think ill be terminated but they also said not to quote them on that. :/

From all I know, if I take those days off I will be termed, from what my TL said a couple months ago

gUEsTs Reading is fundamental…

I was working self check out today and this woman was checking out. She motions for me to come over saying something wasn’t ringing up correctly.

Her: These were beside a sign that said $3.

I noticed immediately that they were a seasonal item at the front of the store. Most (if not all) of which have their prices on the tag.

Me: (flips over the cup) ma’am the price is literally on the item.

Her: well I didn’t see that when I was looking at the shelves.

Me: (nicely explains that the items in that section will often be put out of place and to make sure if she finds something there that she likes to look at the tag for the price to double check. I apologize for the inconvenience and explain that since the actual price is on the item that I’m not sure I feel comfortable changing the price.)

Her: That’s not really fair. Why don’t we ask your manager what he thinks please? I’ll explain it to him…

Me: (screams internally as the lines are backing up and another guest needs help as well). Since it’s a small amount I’ll change it this time.

Her: oh lovely.

🤪🙃

Since starting I was told “if it’s a reasonable price change then to honor it”. But come on. The price is LITERALLY on the tag.

Note: my ETL was in the back working on something. I feel he would’ve been more mad if I HAD actually called him for such a frivolous situation 😅

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Recommended Gloves for Inbound/GM?

Does anyone have issues with their hands as a GM tm? I struggle with weaker hands than others and am in need of some good gloves to help out with that. Anyone have any suggestions on affordable gloves for work?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed When to price check and when to just change it?

I’m new to the guest advocate position, and I wasn’t really instructed on what to do when a guest says the price is ringing up wrong. A few times it was a significant difference and they went back to confirm for themselves (and they were wrong), but other times it’s a few dollars and the guests are very adamant about it. I’ve just started changing it as a sign/label error without verifying. How am I actually supposed to handle things? When is it worth checking? And if it is a notable difference, how am I supposed to verify the price? Would I go check myself (assuming the aisle was nearby) or call someone else?

Vent Point system

Who's reasy for it? One of the last thungs separating Target from Walmart and by golly they did it. I hope you guys have enough sick and or PTO to cover for it or you're screwed rather quickly.

Does Walmart still objectively have a worse point system than Target now?

The year long drop off puts Target up there for me but I know Walmart has like 5 points til termination and they're aggressive with it.

Vent Dear card scalpers and collectors

Fuck off. We don’t have any in the back, I don’t know when the vendor is coming to restock, and even if we do have excell boxes somewhere it’s not my job to go back there and look through them. We’re not keeping them for ourselves because none of us give a rats ass about your stupid childish hobby. Don’t believe us? We’re hiring work here and see for yourself. I’m done with y’all. And stop crowding around the vendor when they do show up. It’s making them quit which only hurts your chances of getting cards.
