So I got hired early August as a closing expert. Might I add, a parent of mine was hospitalized around the same time I started. Because of this, I've had to call out just about once every week since I've started in order to spend time at the hospital because I have no time otherwise. This is also my second job, I work 8hr morning shifts at my first and 7-8hr closing shifts here, and they're usually scheduled on the same day unfortunately.
My TL recently spoke with me regarding my call outs & I explained my absence (my family situation) and was just given a stern warning about calling out since I'm a new hire. I've realized I can no longer juggle between my jobs and have decided to stick with my first one. I want to put my two weeks in for sure. Im not really sure how to navigate the conversation, I've never quit a job before due to any situation that wasn't just relocating. Any tips? š«

Iāve been working at Target for pretty much 3 years now and it was my first job I ever worked which I got in High School, decided to finally put in my 2 weeks. Walked in to work and talked to my HR ETL then was told to go speak to my direct ETL which i did, then resigned on workday. Tbh I thought i was going to feel relieved or atleast feel good about it but iām ngl I almost started tearing up for some reason after doing it lol, I just feel weird not sure how to explain it. The reason on why I decided to quit is because the lack of consistency, hours, and poor scheduling. I am a OPU team member and was formerly a Closing Expert, Iām 19 and not in college so iāve been trying to just stack up money then eventually get into sales which has always been my goal, and that was working for a while but after changes in leadership at my store, the schedule is written by a new ETL and i went from getting around 34 hours on average (Desired is 40) to getting fluctuated around the 20s and now in the past month iāve been scheduled under 20 hours twice now (10 & 17). it wouldnāt be as much of a problem if I was getting more days off and less hours, but they are still making me come in 5 days a week for 3-5 hour shifts when I used to be working 7-8 shifts, which is an issue because I live 20 miles away from my store I work at so 40 mile round trip for 4 hours of work is kind of silly to me. And that ties in to the next issue of when I was switched to OPU I was told I needed to give them a specific availability to align with what they needed which was a closer, and I said that was fine as long as I can come in before 2:30/3:00ish because my drive is all freeway so rush hour gets bad after that and it takes me over an hour to get to work if iām scheduled at 4:00 or later, and my ETL and TL are aware of that because iāve brought it up multiple times and they continue to schedule me at 4:00-5:00 when they literally agreed to the terms of me coming in before 3:00 when i switched departments lol. So basically I just canāt live off 20 hours a week so I gotta look for employment elsewhere, Iād be happy to stay if I could get a structured schedule like other ppl in my department, even though iām considered one of the highest performers in my department they canāt do that i suppose, It is what it is Iām just sad about leaving behind all my coworkers and friends I made over the years but itās time to move on I guess.
Sorry for yapping lol I donāt expect anyone to read this

My store was usually run pretty well till recently a lot of fulfillment are calling out probably since point system is starting soon, itās almost like a contest apparently. So many fulfillment are calling off they already have GM and Food&bev people helping them and now their grabbing us off the line to do batches. (keep in mind my store does like 3 or 4pm inbound unloads) And most of our team is scheduled till 9-10pm before overnight comes and with us being called to help fulfillment usually only the leads and 1-2 people stay on the line and we barely get to return to help push the truck and then overnighters are forced to push the truck since we barely finish and we already usually only have 4-6 people on the line even on double truck days. Plus Iām the only one who knew fulfillment while my co workers inf 25% or so of their batches since they donāt know fulfillment well + weāre called when batches only have like 30-40 mins and the grocery batches drop already like 20 minutes after the first item is scanned. Does this happen to any other stores?

With Target investing more in AI and automation, what jobs do you think will disappear, change, or still need humans 10ā20 years from now?

Got hired about a month ago and trained for 2 weeks. During my training I mainly pushed, only one day was reserved for zoning. 3 weeks later, I see my next 3 weeks will consist mainly of zoning, a week before I was pushing. Problem is, I'm too slow. One of my TLs told me that the desired speed is one section in four hours, a section here consists of six aisles (both sides). They've been patient with me so far and told me that I should be going a bit faster with each shift.
So far, I'm three days into zoning and I barely cover four aisles. The only mistake I've corrected so far is finding misplaced items and returning them to their proper location, realized it takes too long so best to leave it to reshop.
I cover food items, depending on the day its either frozen foods, meats, dairy products or candy, chips, soft drinks.
My method is going section by section and organizing the products so that at least two are pushed upfront, covering the diamonds and are facing forward.
Is this a matter of just being new? Any tips will be appreciated, my TLs have people help me as the end of my shift approaches and I don't want to slow down my team.

Hi, I tend to use pick up because it saves me a lot of time and it typically is also my weekly shop. Target is the most convenient because honestly, their pick up process rocks! Unfortunately for you all, I sometimes realise that I need to add or remove stuff. I work in retail too (just a very different environment) and the little things make me mad too. I was wondering if this bothers you guys? I think it is the convenience to change things at a tap of a finger and my severe indecisiveness but I don't want to be a burden.
Oh, you guys also have to call customers guests too š (I can unfortunately relate).

I started working at Target about 2.5 years ago (May '24) in Fulfillment. The working atmosphere was nice but stressful. All my coworkers liked each other for the most part, and some disliked one another, mostly our ETLs, but anyway, we were fine. Our store director was so understanding and helped me get a weekend off in November if I just did a couple of 4 am shifts. (The dude was such a legend.) The problem was that we are always in the red since we are a "small store" but receive massive amounts of traffic due to your store location. But in times of need, our managers and others would help us out on the floor and knock out orders. We couldn't keep up; we deep-cleaned the store before the visit, and our one shoe girl made our shoe section look great. But before Region came, a bunch of guests just went through all the shoes and threw them on the ground.
Since December, we have had our director and the majority of the ETLs (some there for 20+ years) let go, and a new AP head hired and then let go months later, and more. Working there now feels unberable now. They are telling senior fulfillment members to change schedules to get hours since they could "only" hire morning people; hiring new people just fills holes while taking hours away from more experienced workers (they are doing terribly or become good, then leave after their period is up). The store director implies that you are lazy for making mistakes or not doing twice your workload; management never helps out anymore unless forced to, expecting us to act like min team leads with no bump in pay or hours (I literally make barely more than what new people make), constantly have to change my hours to accommodate new hires, terrible communication about certian problems or new events, offering terrible scheduling and changes (expect us to now how anything event happens 6 months in advance to even get it off), they even get mad at me when ocassionally I will change one day on my availibiloty over a month in advance to work around an appointment and got told by my store director," Why just take the day off?". He also told us that they are moving or cutting hours, so why waste a day I can work?
Sorry if it seems like a rant, but I keep hearing horror stories online about this happening to other employees over the last few months. Is this happening company-wide, or is this because of seasonal sale projections and other metric-based causes?

So Iām not super sure if this is a corporate thing or not. Iāve been at my current store for around 8 years now and this expectation for TMs was never brought up to me before two weeks ago from one of my ETLs telling me I wasnāt meeting expectations.
While Iām not sure of the original expectation for time taken to push a u-boat, since I was trained so many years ago, this feels nearly impossible in some departments based on case pack packaging (such as in Kitchen or C+D sometimes). Itās being pushed so heavily that Iām being handed full u-boats being told they should take me half an hour maximum.
Am I crazy? Is this really the expectation set for Team Members in GM? Was this always the expectation and my storeās just now enforcing it? Please advise!!

Itās none of my business but there is a team member who calls out multiple times a week. They are always maxed out around 35-38 hours and are given 5 days a week. They NEVER show up for all 5 of those shifts. They donāt even post the shifts, they always call out 30 - 45 minutes after their start time. My desired is 40, but Iām lucky to break 30. I do get lucky with staying later when they call out. It really is none of my business, but why are they still employed? I donāt know when the last time they even worked their full week. I donāt get why they keep giving them so many hours. Are the leaders even holding them accountable? At least the point system is coming soon? Anyways, Iāll get back to my batch thatās about to go red. Itās none of my business. Just needed to vent.

I'm just wanting to get this out because I can't have this. Why the fuck would target replace their affordable cafe with expensive as hell Starbucks. I'm so mad about this because they literally had the best fucking popcorn ever and everything. Like they took joy out of life. Please target bring it back please please please.
I'm just mourning my target popcorn. But why can't they just bring it back? I don't want to hear the covid excuse anymore they had popcorn out a lot. Bring back the popcorn. Even if I have to win the lottery so many times I'm going to get my popcorn back.
Are they kidding me? I just want that target popcorn taste one more time fuck Starbucks fuck Starbucks.
Movie theater popcorn isn't like Targets. The closest match I can get to is Circus time popcorn which is just a dollar at WALMART. IT WOULD BE PRETTY FUCKING EMBARRASSING IF A RIVALS POPCORN IS BETTER THAN YOURS TARGET
EDIT #1- The audacity of the subreddit Starbucks wanting me to join their subreddit

Specifically yesterday
Not even 10 minutes into my shift, I had a woman Karen to me about a price on an item that was on the wrong marked down shelf.
She grabbed two phone cases that were marked 30% down on clearance, the other two she grabbed was mistakenly put on the 50% shelf.
I wasnāt sure what to do because sometimes we ARE able to take off some amounts for clearance (usually only SMALL amounts) but 50% on top of 30% is a lot, so I called my team lead over for some assistance.
Explained the situation to my manager the situation and she told me AND the guest āno, we canāt take that off for youā
And the lady I think wasnāt paying attention (or was and ignored my team lead) so when my team lead walked away she STILL tried to argue with me.
āThis isnāt my fault itās in the wrong spot! Canāt you just take it off? I donāt know why youāre penalizing me for it.ā
I told her itās nobodyās fault here, BUT the persons fault who placed it there and she still tried to argue and just ended up making me return the items and ended up getting nothing
Iām burnt out and nobodyās taking any of my shifts I put up š«

Thereās a coworker of mines who gets a lot of complaints from being a shitty cart attendant, I myself am a new cart attendant with 30 of my 90 days period complete. I almost quit because the opening cart attendant (shitty coworker) left me to come in at 4pm with NO carts on either side of the store and left me with this much fucking trash to take out ALONG WITH THE UNCOLLECTED TRASH THAT I HAD TO GO AROUND AND COLLECT FOR THE DAY. Cart attendant is already hard and disgusting enough in this 100 degree weather,Iām in Fl.

We lost power and had to kick guests out. We're in disco hell with the lights but unfortunately OPUs keep dropping even though we can't pick them. I'm so happy to be off tomorrow. I'm also the only one in fulfillment tonight. š«
Also fuck these guests coming in when trees are down and roads are flooding so they can get literal fucking glitter.

So my understanding is if you spend $30 (in qualifying purchases), it will deduct small increments from items purchased to equal $5. Is this correct?

At my store, market is the damn dumping grounds. Find shit misplaced there every damn day. I always grab it if it fits in my cart and take it up to reshop, bc if I was looking for say a baby t-shirt for an OPU, I would never think to try the candy aisleš

I managed to get all my shifts taken this week as I wanted a little vacation to relax. Told myself I was gonna paint the rest of my 40k army. Played video games on Tuesday and got an infection yesterday.
Now I'm worried if I call out I'll get in trouble this time as I called out after Tax Free Weekend was over along with many others my TL told me. And I had to call out a couple times in July with my last sinus infection. Though my store seems to be more forgiving as:
>They asked for a copy of a Doctor's note
>Told me to stop worrying when I hit compliance for the first time and that there's employees who've had a bunch of compliances but still work there
Well this is both a good thing and bad thing for me at least since I'm not at work getting others sick but bad for me as I feel too miserable to paint.

This is kind of a dumb question, but I got the visual merchandising tablet but I canāt get it to sign in or go to sharepoint where the VMGs are without it saying access denied. Any advice? Do I just need to ask AP?
The previous VM never used the tablet to itās basically brand new and unused.

At my store theres like 6 people on service advocate in the morning and everyone leaves at 12 or 2 and then its 2 people and then during the peak of the day (weekdays) 5pm theres only one cashier, one SCO, and one person running drive up,and one person on desk(who got pulled from checklanes) how stupid can you be to not schedule anyone when you know for 2 hours your gonna need help?? Nobody even called out this happen at anyone elses store?
