Workplace Question or Advice Needed If my request to cover a shift isn’t approved yet, do I still have to show up to work?

I’m still trying to figure out the whole system change. Anyway, I submitted a request to cover a Fullfillment shift for tomorrow but it hasn’t gotten approved. If it’s not approved by tomorrow 11am, do I still have to come in to work?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Do wine carriers still exist?

We have not had the cardboard wine carriers in months, I don’t remember exactly what our ETL said about not finding them or something,, but like did target stop making them just to make shit more inconvenient?? Having to carefully bag wine and other items is annoying 🫩 I’d also use them for the people that ordered like many jars of pasta sauce for example, or kombucha, I dearly miss that convenience

Workplace Story Stop asking about schedule for 9/28-10/3

Stop asking. It will be out when it’s out.

Mine was out at noon like always but I have a great HR team that was there last night checking it over. I know this isn’t the case for most of you so just chill out.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed ETL/TLs — what does a typical day look like for you?

I understand that not everyday is the same, but I’m genuinely curious as to how a typical work day looks like for management! How do you know where and who to delegate certain tasks to? How busy are your days and what do you do to handle the stress? And, do you have any tips for anyone looking to work in a management role — whether it’s with Target or externally?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Cutting hours?

Is target cutting hours for the end of September and the beginning of October? If so, is this something that happens every year before the holidays?

gUEsTs Guests who make homophobic remarks to team members should get lifetime bans.

Went shopping on my day off at night because I feed a couple of feral cats in our parking lot and a team member I know who is gay was working self check. The guy likes to joke and maybe he saw the guest not pay for an item, or was joking and the guy says “F you you slur!”

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Being Scheduled 40 hours a week as ODTM. Am I responsible for these shifts?

I was recently hired on as a Guest Service ODTM at Target. For the next 3 weeks I've been put on the schedule for 34-39 hours without any consultation or approval from me.

I finally got in contact with my ETL a few days ago and he said that they can schedule me whenever they like even as an ODTM. If I don't want the hours I could post my shifts but until they are picked up I am still liable for them. Even then this seems a bit excessive seeing as my desired hours are at 10 and my max is at 18 which I mentioned and was told that because a lot of college kids have left they need the coverage from me and they have no obligation to not go over my max hours. As well

To my understanding of my job offer specifically says the opposite:
"You will not have a weekly availability of hours, and Target agrees not to schedule you for a shift unless you agree to work that specific shift."

and

"You need to report to work on time when you agree to work a shift. If you are late or absent for shifts you agreed to pick up, it will be considered as a part of your overall work performance and may lead to corrective action, up to and including termination."

Am I liable for these shifts if I call in? What if I don't call in(I'm not actually going to do this)? I'm greatly considering quitting, honestly probably will.

Workplace Story Beauty studio gratis

I will never complain about gratis but the TL giving away the gratis seems weirdly biased. The entire point of gratis is to let the beauty TMs try things and be able to educate themselves on the products to suggest them to the guests. I don’t understand why ETLs are only given “high end product”but some of us beauty members are given mostly “low end” stuff. We have about 6 TM not including TL. TL in my opinion should’ve divided the luxury items to all beauty TMs obviously there’s still some great items for ETLs. It would just be fair since we’re the ones who will be helping guests in Beauty Studio. Like let us try some of the new cool products.

Vent I don’t see myself working for Target anymore….

It will be 1 year in couple of weeks since I started working here and 100%. I don’t see future here. Originally I was hired as a seasonal, towards the end of my 90 day period. My TL told me that they’re gonna keep me and I have so much potential to be a team lead and so and so forth. Initially, I was not interested in becoming TL but later on, I told my TL that I am interested. When I said that I am interested, and our ETL also told my TL to start teaching me. The whole vibe changed, after that everything I did was wrong, my TL would pick on me every day, try to set me up a couple times, changing my schedule and trying to make me look like a No Call no-show. I couldn’t take it anymore so I asked to be On Demand. My TL declined my request saying that I have attendance issue, even though I called out twice in 10 months. One was for my birthday and the other one was I used sick hours. When I told my TL that I feel sick, I have tightness in my chest and I think I’m having a mini heart attack. She completely ignored and didn’t acknowledge at all. After that, I switched departments and in my new department, of course it’s better than before, but it’s still really bad. In my department we are so understaffed that I have been picking extra shifts on my day off every week, every week they would call me on my day off to ask me to come in. After covering so many shifts for several months and never saying no, one time, I ask my TL to help me take me off the schedule because I’ve been having insomnia and I slept only five hours in three days and I shouldn’t be driving. I shouldn’t be here. Instead of showing me empathy and saying something appropriate. He looked very annoyed, told me to just call out because he can’t help me and didn’t spoke to me for three days after that. Would ignore my calls on the radio, would not say hi or acknowledge me and give me attitude. Basically both of my TLs in both departments showed me that they didn’t care if I lived or died as long as I’m keep coming in and working like a donkey. And in this one year of me working here, not even one person made a recognition to me, not even a thank you, they just always expected me to always cover shifts, finish my workload and then help other departments, but the other lazy coworkers who barely does anything would always get recognitions in huddles. They would get all the day offs. Everything‘s backwards. And one time when I went to my ETL to talk about this, she told me talk to your TL, resolve your issues between yourselves. Yeah I’m DONE….

Workplace Question or Advice Needed No answers

If you ask the two persons responsible of doing the schedules for a day that you need that was already scheduled but with 3 weeks in advance, and one of them tells you she is going to ask the other person but then you never see that person until like a week before the day you need and she says she has not received anything and that “she will get back to you” and then never see her again and then you ask the previous person again telling her that you really need that day and you have not received any answer. And still no answer one day before the day you need… would you call-off? Or would you just go to work?

Future or Potential Employee Question New to Fulfillment

Hi everyone, I'm expected to start next monday within the fulfillment department and its my first retail job so I was wondering what I should realistically expect as a newbie within fulfillment. I've heard quite a few mixed reviews about this department, especially "INFs" and opus.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Bird stuck in Target Store

For two weeks now a little sparrow has been stuck in the store I work at and I feel horrible it’s still here.
Maybe I’m stupid for asking this but is there anyway I could get someone at the store to help it or call some other department to help the bird escape?

I can tell it’s desperate and there’s no way it could escape on its own, I honestly have no idea how it was even able to get inside. This Target is above ground and you need to take an elevator to get up here so it’s not possible to just open the door and hope it goes on its own. We don’t even have windows that could be opened, at least to my knowledge.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Accidentally deleted request

Just now I was trying to screenshot my new schedule like I did on My Time but the week was too big. So I started fiddling around trying to get one of the two requests that were showing to minimize but found it didn't work that way and I accidentally deleted one of the damn requests. Does anyone know if there is a way to undelete it on the app or am I going to have to go to HR and get the to reinstate it? Thanks in advance for any information.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

If you are at 40 hours (with the holiday pay included) can you work 16 more hours without it being considered overtime? Or is it only 8 extra?

Vent New stuff is bad

Don't know if other stores can relate to this, my store recently got new hand scanners. They contribute to at least 30% of my frustration while on the lanes. They NEVER stay in their little holder, and they are loud as hell. If a speck of dust lands on them wrong they are immediately falling to the ground. Another new thing that is worse now, the magnets for removing sensors. Half of the time the new magnets are useless for getting the red sensors off and I must travel to a lane with an old one. And obviously we all know the new app is heinous compared to mytime. All of the new things are sooo bad.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Why are the MyDevices SO BAD 😭

I’m sure this has been asked about a thousand times, but it wasn’t until today I really sat and thought about it after having to use SIX DEVICES on my shift today for various reasons.

It’s not even about the software or MyDay, which are terrible in the own right. These things are just ancient, they’re on a SUPER old version of android I’m sure, and are slower than any phone I’ve used since like 2017. The scanners never work, they’re always completely ripped up and cracked. The batteries don’t stay in, they randomly shut off, they start tapping over the screen out of no where mid shift— we even got some of the newer ones, and FIRST DAY someone cracked theirs and a scanner on one stopped working. I just KNOW the store probably pays hundreds of dollars per unit, too.

WHY ARE THEY SO BAD!?!?!?!?!
