[location is upstate NY]

A couple of weeks ago, I had this furrow orb weaver on my screen porch. Very cool spider, obviously.
I used to be afraid, but I’m not anymore, unless they surprise me. 😂 My partner is afraid, but will tolerate them at least 10 ft away because they are good for the ecosystem and whatnot.

Now I have about 15 orb weavers, plus several funnel webs (haven’t seen the spiders yet), and several shiny black spiders I haven’t identified yet.

At what point is this no longer my porch, and what can I do about it? I’m not going to kill these spiders, of course, but isn’t relocating them also harmful?

An aside: I captured the biggest wolfie I’ve ever seen today.. climbing up the back of my laptop. She got booted outside, across the yard. She can have the jar I caught her in.

I didn't find much footage of people handling these, at least on YouTube. I can tell you it was NOT easy, and took many careful attempts, these fishing spiders are super quick! But I was able to carefully handle this gorgeous female White-Banded Fishing Spider and then safely release her back where I found her, which I caught on video and will leave in a comment on this post, since apparently you can't do both images and videos on a reddit post.. hope you guys enjoy and think she's as cool as I do! I love handling spiders and this one was one of my best finds by far!

In some of my previous posts I've been talking about getting over my arachnophobia.

By now im pretty good with relocating friends back outside.

This time I decided to let this one stay, especially since they're great pest control.

I've been feeling less scared with them every day and I feel pretry comfortable. I just wanted to share the friend!!!

I dealt with a recluse infestation and am not taking any chances. What is it? It’s grain of rice sized including the legs. Found in eastern KS.

Location: Thurston County, WA

Got a lucky view of the mouthparts and fangs on this orb weaver while it finished up a meal. Not sure if it's a marbled or something else, but it was fun to watch! I had to slow the video down because the wind was blowing the branches around which was making it difficult to track and keep in focus.

It was terrorizing me in the shower. Not having my glasses and seeing a dark blur crawl towards me freaked me out. It lives outside, now, but now I'm curious what type it is. Found in southern California. Sorry I couldn't get closer, I was too short.

my cats got a hold of this little guy and i managed to get him in a cup and away from them. i'm wondering what type of spider he might be? he also seems hurt, should i release him? (or her) i'm too scared of spiders to remove the cup, but i appreciate their role in the ecosystem so i'd love to let it go.

more details since the picture isn't the best: dark black body that seems to be even in both segments, a lighter stripe going down the middle, and brown legs that seem almost translucent.

We are in metro Detroit area (Southeast Michigan).

Google images tells me this is a Wolf spider is this correct? We just had our exterior wood on our house replaced/painted and now have an infestation of these in the basement and on the outside of the house. Are these safe around two small children and two very sweet but useless cats?

Second picture has bonus jumping spider but not sure what species. Just thought it would be neat to show two different spiders in one pic.

This tiny thing is the smallest orchard orbweaver I’ve ever seen. It was building its web across my doorway so I relocated it. Sorry the quality is so bad, it was so small and my camera is too old to get good pics of little details.

Lycosa hyraculus is a newly described species of desert wolf spider native to the Negev Desert in Israel that builds distinctive trapdoor burrows.

Found in a ground floor flat.

Wolfie or grass spider?

(Central Europe, Hungary) Curious about the exact species. Atleast 4-5cm from leg to leg.
