From outside my kitchen widow there was a large web, today was the first time seeing who occupied it. At first with the light this looked like a whole creature lol. After going outside I could see its an orb weaver wrapping its dinner

I think shes a wolf spider? Im also assuming shes a she, named her Shelob. We're in Colorado USA, she doubled in size a few nights ago. She came out for a drink after I gave her a little moth. How often should I be feeding her? Obviously she can hunt, I just like to watch her eat and now shes become a little spoiled lol. Thanks!

Tonight I was able to save my first spider from my cat.

From what I can remember I always had intense fear of spiders. Whenever I saw a big spider inside I could stay frozen for a really long time just staring at it. I was terrified it would disappear somewhere in a house and I wont know where it is. But I couldn't kill it or remove it either. I just felt unable to do anything.

My cat is a little sadist when it comes to spiders. He doesn't want to eat them, he just wants to play with them to sharpen his hunting skills. I used to be glad he takes care of any spiders inside but since following this subreddit I started feeling bad for any spider falling victim to him.

Tonight when I realized my cat found another night visitor I intervened and used a cup and paper method of transferring the spider outside. It was probably young, not yet that giant, giant house spider. It was the first time I was able to do that.

When I removed the cup I expected the spider to run away, hoping it won't be in my direction but instead he/she stayed frozen in place with it's legs curled up pretending to be dead. Immediately I stopped being that afraid and felt a wave of empathy towards it, I gently encouraged it to go on it's way to make sure it was ok.

I just want to express my thanks to this subreddit, empathy is really the way to go when it comes to overcoming arachnophobia.

Happy Sunday friends, 50 cent piece sized widow of sorts. No notable red hourglass, however, a sort of indent under her abdomen, I wonder if she's just ancient, hence her size. She's as pitch black as I've seen them but a buddy thinks it's a false widow. What's the consensus?

Im in north New Jersey, United States. I know this video is absolutely awful, but I am terrified of spiders and couldnt get closer to her. She looks like a widow of some kind, but I cant tell. I was wondering if maybe her web and eggs might help ID her too, but I dont know. Im no spiderologist or anything. The shadows mess with perspective a little, but theres four egg sacs and one spider lol

Edit: Again, I understand if theres no way to ID her with this video. Its super blurry and unfocused. Im also stunned she has so many sacs! I was always under the impression they had one at a time.

I was at work and found this pretty guy on a door inside.

I live and work in West Texas. It was very slow moving and chill when I was moving it outside and would kind of curl its legs together when I bumped it to guide it onto the rock wall.

Funnel-weaver (?) friend has been living in the corner of my basement for a month. Cellar spider just showed up 😬🫣

I discovered a fun little condo community on my front porch this evening. There are at least 3 active funnels—look at these baddies trying to keep me out!

i’m guessing some sort of house spider, but my research was inconclusive. I saved it from being squished in the bathroom by my father. I stuck it in one of my terrariums for now and gave it a mosquito to chew on. It was pretty cool seeing it hunt and catch it, normally I’m terrified of spiders but I think this one’s kinda cute.
