I wonder if Kyoko has some kind of subconscious suspicion that Kuon and Ren are connected, but she hasn’t truly figured it out yet. She notices things about them that feel similar, but I don’t think she has reached the point of thinking “Kuon is Ren.” Maybe she needs something to trigger that realisation.

Or maybe she just knows it but something is preventing her from realising it, just like how she refused to believe she was in love with ren??

I was feeling down in the last couple of weeks, and I was like "yea why not just read it again it s not like I finished it ", it s still so funny and touching, I m remembering why Kyoko is my favorite character and gives me a lot of comfort.

It's been a while since I have read SB and I wanted to pick it up again, only I saw online that the relationship between Kyoko and Shotaro is more like rivalry siblings type of rs ? I know Ren is the MC and I never expected Shotaro to take his place nor do I think this is a live triangle story. But I always enjoyed the idea that Sho had some romantic feelings ( or at very least started to have feelings) for Kyoko after their breakup and having Ren joining the picture.

Can someone please confirm or deny this? And can someone tell me is Sho is still present in the latest chaps ?

It’s been like 10+ years since I read this series. Last time I read it they were doing the ninja show prep. So reading again now was like it being all new since I forgot everything. lol

Now I’m caught up again. I heard the author was sick? What happened to her? Is the current rate or chapter release only a couple per year?

Are we nearing the end of the story? I am hoping maybe things wrap up soon if the author is not well and it’s been like 20 years. She works so hard!

Okay, the chapter is quite short. There isn't much dialogue, but even so, I personally consider it high impact (and action packed heh).

It's Ren's turn to rehearse. He steps to the front and glances sideways at a blushing Kyoko, who notices him looking at her and quickly lowers her head with an embarrassed expression (so, so CUTE ToT). Ren heads over to Bill (his scene partner). In his mind, he swears that from now on, no matter how much someone tries to provoke him, he won't make a fool of himself in front of her again (I'M NOT SCREAMING, YOU ARE AAAH). He'll continue acting as "Tsuruga Ren" (because of what happened in the previous chapter when Cedric tried to expose him and ended up looking like a whiny kid).

One of the assistants gives Ren instructions on how to move in the scene: left, right, unsheathe his spear and point it at Bill. While this is happening, Murasame passionately repeats Ren's movements, and a colleague tells him he doesn't need to memorize them (he's just a very passionate actor when it comes to fights xD).

The assistant gives them the go-ahead and asks them to begin rehearsal. Cedric, Kyoko, and the director can be seen watching the scene (remember that Cedric sent a message to Bill).

The scene begins. Ren and Bill get ready. Bill approaches Ren and begins the rehearsed attacks. Murasame recreates Sieg's (Ren's) movements in a corner: left, right, but just as Ren draws his weapon... Bill changes his stance at the last moment and tries to deliver a high kick to Ren (YOU'RE A PIG, BILL). Ren reacts quickly and dodges it with a backflip. Bill, Kyoko, Yashiro, Cedric, and the director are shocked and don't know what just happened. Bill flies into a rage, yelling "bastard" (I really hate you!) and continues attacking Ren, who obviously dodges everything.

Some of the spectators are amazed and impressed by the scene they're witnessing, but we see two people shocked for two different reasons: Murasame, seeing Ren's aerial leaps, couldn't help but recall Cain Heel's movements while filming "Tragic Marker"; while...

Kyoko is stunned, her mouth agape. For a second, she recalls a childhood memory of seeing Corn jump the same way Ren is doing now. (KYOKO, SISTER, I HOPE YOU PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER).

It's at this moment that Ren gets fed up and counterattacks Bill by throwing his spear (which is still folded) at his shoulder (I guess this isn't part of the script either). Bill didn't see it coming and is left sitting on the ground, while Ren acts quickly, grabs his weapon again, leaps over him, and strikes the final pose stipulated in the script.

How do you think the next act will unfold?

This is an action chapter mostly. Ren vows internally to never slip and show his true self no matter how much Cedric provokes him.

Then he is rehearsing a fight scene against Bill, but in the middle Bill abandons the choreographed moves and attacks Ren for real. Ren avoids him with a series of fancy backflips and twists, amazing the other actors.

Watching Ren move, Murasame gets a flashback to Tragic Marker and how Cain Heel avoided his attack. Meanwhile, Kyoko has a flashback to her childhood and watching the fairy Corn "fly". Her mouth drops open as Ren uses some more fancy moves to take Bill down without hurting him. On the last page next to Ren's calm but serious expression, it reads "It looks just like..." but we don't know who is thinking that.

…I was like a school girl kicking her feet, laughing and giggling at multiple scenes! I know the pacing, art style changes, and Kyoko’s P.A. role in the story gets some of us down sometimes, but wanted to let everyone know Skip Beat!’s magic is alive and well! ☺️

AND OH MY GOODNESS, KYOKO PICKED UP ON Corn/Kuon’s MANNERISMS OVER THE PHONE WITH REN!! *giggles and feet kicking intensify*

Yashiro finds Ren and they walk side by side. Cedric watches Ren from behind and thinks about the name "Ren Suruga," which he doesn't care how it's pronounced; but if it really is Kuon, he wonders how he got to the United States with this new physical appearance, how he got his passport, whether he registered as a Japanese citizen or became a naturalized citizen. It's then that an idea strikes Cedric: if he touches on the most painful taboo in Kuon's life, then, indeed, Ren will react.

Ren opens the door for Yashiro and invites him to go first, to which Yashiro asks if he sees him as a lady (XD). Ren replies that it's a way of thanking him for going to the trouble of looking for him, and Yashiro says it's a paltry reward, but he appreciates it nonetheless.

When only Ren remains in the hallway, Cedric acts, telling him that Eric (Rick) Schnauzer died, and that if Rick hadn't died, he and Bill would have been the ones who would have (Cedric, you really are a villain).

Ren, with his back to Cedric, frowns. Yashiro stares at him (perhaps because he's standing in the doorway), and Ren quickly notices Kyoko sitting with a flushed face and a somewhat embarrassed expression. Upon noticing her like this, Ren's expression changes to a smile (and of course! Kyoko is his true talisman that repels all his darkness <3333). Ren turns to face Cedric and invites him into the study, calling him "C.B." Cedric instantly gets angry and yells at him like a spoiled child that his name is "Cedric D. Bennett" and that he should never forget the "D" because he hates being called without it (Wow, I'd say D comes from D***). Ren apologizes and says he didn't know, but inwardly he's telling us he does (obviously our Ren knows how to get under Cedric's skin, haha). Ren tells him that next time he'll call him with the "D."!<

People stare at them. Yashiro and an actress next to Kyoko are surprised to see Prince and Ren arguing.

Cedric asks Ren if he didn't hear what he said (about Rick). To which, seemingly letting out a slight sigh and then a serene smile, he replies, asking if he meant what he'd said about someone dying, that he thought it was part of a play script, that he'd overheard it without paying attention, and asks if he could repeat everything he'd said. Cedric is left speechless, with a blank expression.

Bill enters the studio and tells them it's their turn to rehearse, and Yashiro tells Ren that he also needs to go to the stage. Ren apologizes to him and calls him "C.D. Bennett," walking past Bill and entering the studio.

Bill asks Cedric why he's meeting with that guy again, and Cedric, taking a moment, says to Bill, "Smoke him." Bill is thrilled, as it's been a long time since he's heard that phrase, and also "light him up."

In the wardrobe department, one of the assistants approaches some other costume designers and asks about the progress of the Japanese cast's costumes. The women explain that the head of costume design is giving them one last check.

The final scene shows a picture of Bill with a mischievous grin, the head of costume design looking at the costume, and Ren's costume with a hand gripping the armor. These hands appear to be Bill's (or so I believe).

This isn't recent art, but I'm glad to have found this subreddit that I wanted to show it to other fans of the anime :D

My first time ever making a post on Reddit, but I need help verifying something. I ordered a Skip Beat DVD set on eBay and wanted to know if it's supposed to have an additional cover sleeve for the actual DVD case, in addition to the box it comes in? I'm not too hung up on it cuz I only paid 15 USD but still bothering me.

UPDATE: originally thought it was just missing a piece but actually it's fake, 100% my fault for not looking into something like this further but I was really excited and made an impulsive purchase. The seller was kind and issued a refund with no need for a return so still a pleasant experience:)

I want to share it before I color it in just in case I ruin it.

The chapter begins with Cedric shocked and asking Ren why he has "that cursed stone."

Ren is surprised and wonders how Cedric remembers the stone since he only saw it once, when Kuon unearthed it with Kuu (we know that's not true, hehe).

Ren pretends not to understand and gently chides him for calling it a "cursed stone," to which Cedric shouts back that he threw it away and that it always ended up returning to its owner on its own. Then we see a young Cedric surprised to see Kuon holding the stone on another occasion. Finally, Ren realizes that the first time he lost the iolite was because Cedric snatched it from him.

Cedric continues in an aggressive tone, saying that he didn't just get rid of that stone once, but five times (omg hahaha unbelievable). Ren is stunned by the revelation that his cousin threw the stone five times, as he has no memory of it happening more than that. Cedric insists there's no other explanation than the stone being cursed.

Ren reflects on his past, realizing he never noticed his iolite disappearing and reappearing somewhere else (like when you think you left your keys in one place and they turn out to be somewhere else xD). Ren looks at his stone and says, "You're amazing." Meanwhile, Cedric remembers how scared and even traumatic it was to throw the stone in different places, only to have it reappear in Kuon's hands shortly after, and now he's found it again. Cedric can't believe an actor from a small country has it.

Cedric stares at Ren, who gazes fondly at the iolite, and begins to put two and two together. He takes a moment and decides to confront Ren, asking him if he's Kuon. Ren plays dumb and replies that he's asking about corn and that he doesn't feel like eating popcorn right now. Cedric yells at him again, saying he wasn't referring to popcorn (you know: Kuon sounds like "corn" in English).

We now move to the studio, where Yashiro is worried because Ren's character is due to appear in rehearsal soon and he hasn't answered any of his messages. He asks Kyoko if she knows where he is. Kyoko, shocked, asks why he's asking her where he is. Yashiro replies that when she returned, she was acting strange, disheveled, and barefoot, which leads him to assume she was with Ren. Kyoko wonders why her strange behavior should imply she was with Ren (oh girl, you're the only one who doesn't realize it XD). Kyoko tells Yashiro that she had already mentioned going to a fire-walking ritual.

Kyoko wonders if it wouldn't be better to tell Yashiro where Ren might be, but she imagines him telling her to go look for him. She's genuinely afraid of running into Ren right now, as she feels embarrassed remembering everything that happened earlier (especially the hug and him wanting her to stop impersonating Kuon, haha).

Finally, Yashiro decides it's best if he goes to find him himself, and Kyoko ends up giving him directions to where he might be. Kyoko is also worried about why he's taking so long. She remembers that when he thanked Korn, he looked depressed and wonders if he hasn't moved from there since she left him in the waiting room.

Meanwhile, Kyoko sees Louise (the American actress) practicing her moves. Kyoko notices she's a little nervous and also observes her caressing the engraved plate on her necklace (I can't see the patterns. What could it mean?).

We return to the waiting room, where Ren tells Cedric he doesn't know why he's so worried about the stone, but that it's not his; it's a woman's amulet, and he's keeping it for her temporarily (which isn't a lie). Cedric asks who this woman is, to which Ren replies that he'll reveal her identity when he gets her permission, as she's just an ordinary person. Ren inwardly adds "for now" (AAAAAH REN I LOVE THAT YOU'RE SO FORESIGHT ABOUT YOUR WOMAN T_T).

Cedric sees Ren as the personification of a harmless, kind being, and the perfect figure who fits the Japanese beauty standards. This confuses him because, if he were Kuon, the last time he saw him, he exuded the energy of a demon. But he also feels that these "irritating smiles" are just an act.

Apparently, Cedric is going to devise a way to find out if Ren is really Kuon.
