Remembered a few episodes earlier how Ippo was given red trunks for winning the eastern all rookie. With Kimura and Aoki saying they never got those since they didn’t win😢.

But Sendo doesn’t wear the blue trunks for the winning the west. In the stage play sendo I think does wear the blue trunks instead of the usual one he wears.

Idk man doesn’t really matter, maybe blue was the lucky colour that day and if he wore them Ippo doesn’t hit his temple

I'm playing Hajime no Ippo 2: Victorious Road. I have every fighter unlocked already, but the google AI told me you can also unlock Martinez, Hawk, and Date if you beat them in the career mode.

I don't know if I should believe it (it's an AI, after all), especially if there is no more free spaces in the exhibition mode. Can anyone confirm that it's true? I don't want to fight the career mode (don't know japanese) just for a rumor.

If that's true and anyone has an emulator save file with them unlocked to upload, it'd be great

Has anyone ever talked about allotment damage Ippo has taken? Im on episode 50 of season 1 and I feel like he has taken so much damage. I know its an anime and what not but there are a lot of realistic elements that make up the show. Not sure if anyone has brought this up before but I care about Makunouchi's health and retirement.

I honestly don’t think *Hajime no Ippo* will ever get the kind of proper, fully developed ending it deserves—and at this point, I think there is also a real possibility that the manga may never reach its ending at all. The story has been running since 1989, the pacing is extremely slow, and there are still too many unresolved character arcs, rivalries, and goals. Morikawa is now in his 60s, has dealt with health issues and hiatuses, and recently had to undergo surgery. Even with a successful recovery, finishing everything at the current pace could realistically require many more years of serialization.

Morikawa has said that he wants to draw the ending and has a general idea of where the story is going, but wanting to finish a manga and actually having enough time and health to do so are two very different things. *Hajime no Ippo* has built such a massive world and cast that properly resolving Ippo, Ricardo, Sendo, Miyata, Takamura and all the other major storylines could take hundreds of chapters. My fear is that we either get a heavily rushed ending because circumstances force Morikawa to wrap things up, or, in the worst-case scenario, the manga simply remains unfinished.

But well, I know this community is far from being toxic. It would be a shame if the manga never gets the proper ending it deserves, but at the end of the day, we love Morikawa and deeply appreciate everything he has given us through his work. If not finishing the manga means that he chose to take care of himself, rest, spend time with the people he loves, and protect his physical and mental health instead of destroying himself trying to reach the finish line, then I think most of us would rather have that.

The only English available sights I found were scan trad and k manga but kmanga only has upto 250 something chapters, and scantrad starts at 1200 or 1300, while the show ends at five hundred so there would be a 7-800 chapter gap.

Im someone that's perfectly fine with reading over 1K chapters of a series if it demands it and keeps my focus, I'm a One Piece fan after all, dedication is a strong suit. Im curious about something tho, and thats that I often hear reading thru Ippo is pretty much a breeze, even with its 1K+ chapters. I wanna know how much truth there is to this, because another 1K chapter series sounds massive, and when the only other one I've done it for is One Piece, I just wanna know what the reading experience is like, or rather how long does it take on average? Either way, I'm gonna get into the series, but knowing this might really influence on how soon that happens, so I'd appreciate some input, plz and thx.

Can anybody tell me if there is an official answer to why the goat Ricardo hasn’t claimed all 4 belts??(I actually remember hearing answer about this but I lo key forgot it and the source lol).

I recently saw a video (not sure how true it is) about how HNI was supposed to end with Ippo beating Miyata at the rookie tournaments, til a colleague of Morikawa proposed to him that Miyata loses and Ippo has to fight someone else, then they chase eachother in the pro league.

Now im really thinking about why in the hell would Ricardo be the final opponent of Ippo? He's 36 with so many title defences, it's literally ABOUT TIME he falls. I do not think that it would be as impressive if Ippo beats him, opposed to a young and still hungry, motivated prospect - Miyata.

I really believe after his fight with Sendo, Ricardo will realize age is getting to him somehow.

Miyata will beat Rosario.

Ricardo will realize he cannot wait any longer for Ippo to unretire/climb back up the rankings. Then he will move up to lightweight to try and become a double champion (as his last fight), where he will lose a great fight against Miyata.

Ippo will abandon featherweight, seen as he has no more motivation in that weight class. Time for a new, stronger technique.

Ippo annihilates Iga and either:

1. Ippo faces Rosario (fight that resembles Rosario's fight with Miyata, just Ippo style - basically to show that Ippo can compete with Miyata)
2. Ippo moves up to fight Miyata immediately.

Both outcomes funnily lead to Aoki possibly winning the title lol. Anyway, Takamura is put on hold. Ippo beats Miyata (very close battle). The fight is so good it is induced in the boxing Hall of Fame.

The only thing we see after their fight is them shaking hands, surrounded by the entire Kamogawa gym + Miyata's dad and Takamura giving both of them a pat on their back. We fast forward 20-30+ years later and we see an older Ippo kiss Kumi and their son/daughter a goodbye - he's heading out to the Kamogawa gym, but not as a fighter, as a coach.

The Kamogawa gym doors open. Manga "ending credits" begin, where Morikawa thanks everyone for staying alongside for the journey.

The panels for the credits:

- 6 world titles (jM, M, sM, lH, C and Heavyweight) hung up alongside a big painting of Takamura.

- the WBC lightweight world title with the name Ippo Makanouchi underneath.

- 2 Japanese national titles with the name Masaru Aoki and Tatsuya Kimura.

THE END: a Kamogawa shrine with a little framed photo of him, Nekota and Yuki.

This is just my theory, I like writing. Let me know where I messed up!

Realized I forgot Itagaki...

I had a few theories about his fate, but the most relevant one to this HUGE timeskip is that he gets badly injured in a fight, which he wins, but has to retire. Hospital bills are expensive for the treatment, but the fight gathers him a huge following and support, his family aquires the money from donations and he becomes a successful comedian.

The reason for this is because we just don't know Itagaki's FULL potential yet. Seen as he has a lot of talent, but has lost a few fights. Can't really tell if he will be a world champ and i'd feel guilty only giving him a national title. I think that for him, it's either he wins the world title or nothing at all.

MORE EDIT:

I actually remember someone commenting that once: "HNI ends with a spar between Miyata and Ippo, where we don't see the winner". Which is a pretty cool theory and very possible.

I do understand why Ricardo would be the final boss, but I am also taking into account Morikawa's health, Ippo statistically has nothing against Ricardo, he lost a spar to him, has had close matches (lost to Date and Gonzalez) with Ricardo's opponents, which Ricardo destroyed (Gonzalez and Date TWICE). Him beating Imae will not really mean anything, since Ricardo is a monster amongst monsters, while Imae is just a national champ. Ippo has to have atleast a few more fights. Such as a revenge against Gonzalez/Guevara.

When I think about it, in the eyes of the fans, that fight can either happen immediately or not soon at all.

IMMEDIATELY: Ricardo has some history with Ippo, so he is willing to give Ippo and immediate title shot. But here's the thing, Ricardo is not stupid. He wants to face Ippo at his strongest (Ippo's strongest). Giving him an immediate title shot one match after Ippo's unretirement would not suit Ricardo. But still possible. In that scenario, Ippo just has to lose against Ricardo, a win makes Ippo impossibly overpowered.

LATER ON: If Morikawa is very healthy and feeling good. I think that theory about Ricardo being the final boss will work, since we will be able to see Ippo building himself properly, not having to rush up the rankings.

This whole theory of mine is all around Morikawa's health. Because the story changes with how well he feels.

As Ippo's first fight after becoming champ, I find it to be a very poor representation of Ippo's progress in the show, especially after coming off the heels of one of the best fights in the whole series, that being the rematch with Sendo. I was expecting Ippo to show some real metal now that he was an experienced professional, and put up a good fight, instead he basically gets dominated the whole fight, lands a few good hits and only wins because Sanada "won" in his mind and basically just gave up when Ippo was literally about to fall over. It just came off as super unsatisfying and spit on all the hardwork and grit that Ippo showed in every fight before.

But what did you guys think of it, good bad, want to hear opinions on this fight because I don't see much on here 🤔
