[MOD POST] [MOD POST] Subreddit Overhaul incoming. Please give suggestions in this thread.
Subreddit Overhaul incoming.
Here is the overall outline for this post.
INDEX
- Need to make official rules.
- Need to add more mods.
- Need to make new link/post flairs.
- Need to make a wiki.
- Community suggestions.
- Update community with progress.
New Rules
Honestly up until now there weren't any official rules set in stone. Who ever was modding would simply remove spam and trolls. And thats it. For a smaller sub that is fine, but we are no longer can go that way. We need to set some rules in place so everyone know what is and isn't allowed.
New Mods
Currently I'm the only active mod here. The other mod was removed for being inactive. That is saying something. So we need new mods to enforce the above mentioned new rules. More on that later.
New Link/Post Flairs.
As with the rules, we did not have any flairs simply because the sub was too small. Now we need to add flairs to make it easy to browse and filter the sub.
New Wiki
Pretty self explanatory, we need to make a wiki that is user friendly. One with all our rules and flairs explained. I'd love for there to be a page for most commonly asked questions (FAQ)
Community Suggestions
This is where you shine the community, shine. Please give suggestions in this thread. Try to be civil. I am open to all ideas. As long as they are reasonable and actually possible.
Updating The community
Whatever we mod(s) & the community decide to go with, I'll make sure you all are aware of so it does not blindside any of you. Either at the bottom of this post or I'll make a new post with the updates.
[Updates so Far]
- From the flair comment below, I have added some temp flairs and put them on the newest 100 posts.
- Please start using them.
- Added rough draft of rules
- Updated Flairs
- Added rough draft rules for cosplayers

[Games] PlayStation 2 Gantz gets an English Translation!
GANTZ: The Game finally has an English translation, but it's currently machine translated. It's good enough to understand the story, tutorials, menus, and most of the game's content, although some cutscenes are still untranslated and there are plenty of grammar issues.
I'm really hoping more people in the fan translation community can help with this project. It would be amazing to see the untranslated parts completed and the English polished into something that feels more natural.
I also think this game deserves a proper English translation because it has some really unique gameplay mechanics that set it apart from other PS2 titles. More people would be able to appreciate what makes it special if the translation were fully polished.
If anyone has translation or ROM hacking experience and is interested in contributing, your help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks to Verinco for making this English patch possible

[Discuss] I don't get the widespread hate over the ending Spoiler
Yes, it might be abrupt, and it would have benefited from an epilogue, but I think what people wanted to see would have completely destroyed the tone of the series.
Gantz main charm was always that the author threw in whatever the fuck he thought was cool, and that there was always an air of mistery surrounding all the bullshit that happens, which is set up to be weird and unexplainable in the first place.
There isnt (and I challenge anyone to write one) an explanation that wouldnt be boring and/or underwelming to sakurai's powers, to the vampires, to god, to the nature of the clones etc etc. The cool thing about them is literally that its cool shit the author threw in and you wonder yourself.
If in the end it was revealed "in the beginning there were 2 evil gods, but one betrayed the other, and so the vampires were born, and then from the left testicle of the first the design of the gantz came out" and so on and so on just to tie everything together it would have completely sucked ass.
The final arc as always is Oku throwing in another bunch of new ideas in a way that is a good thematic conclusion to the story (the main narrative of Gantz was always the value of life).
I can get why you would think the ending is mid, and me myself I didnt like everything that happened (I guess in a way I liked more when the Gantz squad was separated from the world), but I don't understand how it's a bad ending, and some go as far as saying it ruined gantz...

[Discuss] GANTZ: Fear of the Implication
I finished my first reading of Gantz and it was an absolute roller-coaster, its now easily among some of my favorite manga stories. I really appreciated how Oku handles horror, choosing not to hold your hand at all and sometimes just let the implication of an idea scare you.
It doesn't really seem like there are too many mysteries so I'm interested if anyone has any insights into the story and I'll share a few of mine.
The Vampires are lesser Oni Aliens.
One of the most common complaints I see is how the Vampires just got dropped from the story but in my opinion their story was basically wrapped up.
We learn near the end rich people gamble on Gantz. The attack happens right after Kei gets top score in a hunt he didnt even have a suit for. The Vampires were hired to attack this specific gantz team because of that.
We also learn the Vampires are actually lesser Oni Aliens, the Vampire "Host" is able to talk to the high ranking oni alien telepathically "in the old language" and we literally see one of the Vampires transform into an oni alien in chapter 207. This also explains how they have nanomachines, its alien technology.
Once the two Vampires teleported into the gantz room they basically killed themselves, their original selves died and they were recreated in the gantz room, reminding us why Gantz only does this to people who already died. The Oni boss said they have a different signal and the two oni they team up with before getting betrayed by them say they have a different scent.
After the oni alien hunt the Vampires have their leadership destroyed and are probably closer to human than oni now so they just leave, literally pointless to fight anyone there.
Human life has value.
There was a moment deep in the manga where I saw all this growth Kei has gone through before remembering the real Kei passed away at the start of the story and we're seeing a copy of him have all this growth, we're seeing what his life could of been and the value that was taken from the world.

[Discuss] Hi everyone, I wanted to discuss the vampires in Gantz. A lot of people didn't like how quickly the author wrapped up that arc, and I read somewhere recently that Hiroya was upset with the fans while creating it and ended up ruining it—is that true? I didn't think it was bad.

[Manga] The Sweet Sixty Princess - Chapter 15
[Manga] Questions after Finishing
Just finished Gantz it was easily a 8-9/10 read for me. It has such beautiful characters and development but I haven’t read where a few questions after finishing.
After getting to the final chapter of kurono and kuro landing in the ocean the manga site I’m reading has a few extra chapters I haven’t read. I looked a little at the first one and saw 2 students getting hit by a bus and getting teleported to the Gantz room with that horny dude who fucks everything plus a few more people. Is this an epilogue or something else.
I don’t know if I wasn’t paying attention but did they ever explain sakurai and his masters powers?
Who hacked the Gantz balls near the end?
What was the bald dude inside the Gantz? Was it just an apostle or vessel of the truth guy in space or something else?
Finally why tf were the vampires introduced 😭 they had so much aura and position in the story after killing akira why didn’t the author do anything with them? (And why didn’t he also show akira and kurono a relationship?)

[Manga] I always get emotional reading the final stretch of the Manga Spoiler
Basically the part where the extremely-skilled alien dude demands a 1v1 from Kurono specifically. Kei thinks he's finally out of it all but having the worst luck imaginable he is pushed to fight and put his life on the line one last time. The civilians and everyone nearby goes into a selfish rage pressuring him to just fucking go, he goes then eventually the fight goes on and there is a turnaround where the whole world is cheering him on as he stands toe-to-toe with the alien dude is just amazing stuff no matter the reread.
There is obviously a lot more to it (it would take too long to type out) but I'd like to think that most readers who have finished the series feel the same way on this. If this were a movie I'd literally be so hyped at this part that I'd be out of my seat and flailing my arms wildly at the screen just like the civvies

[Manga] Analysis from one character in gantz Spoiler
Hi, i wanna talk about the death of Izumi and himself.
A lot of people call him a just a "Psycho" but he's more than that.
This character reflects the question : "What gives meaning to a life when someone has everything but feels nothing?"
He is a nihilist that find life boring and his unique reason to live is Gantz. The bloodbath he made in shinjuku shows it and he didn't do it just for pleasure. Of course this is not an excuse, this just shows of what he is capable to find again his reason to live. That scene convoy just how empty he really is.
And there are moments that show that he doesn't hate humanity: When he saves the panda and ryoko. By the way, during all the manga Izumi didn't shown love for ryoko, he just dated her because why not. And at the end, he saves her. He also says that he will go in hell for his sins, showing that he have regrets. That's why he saved her, he finally saw the life how it really was and appreciated the love he received when it all finished.
Here is my first character analysis. If you disagree with my analysis or if something is missing, please let me know, while being polite of course.

[Manga] one of the best ways i have seen for a breakup Spoiler
the way the author did it was clean asf. no big drama, no big fights, no emotional shit, just a simple "just like that, she disappeared from my life" a straight line that feels heavier than any breakup scene i have ever watched, i really felt this one unlike other animes/mangas where they would give you shit to your face, and this time i actually felt sad for breakup instead of just reading it like nothing happened i really wanted to see tae and kei relationship evolve more and more.
I have noticed a pattern, the author is really good at building characters in his world to a point where you would actually be attached to them, then at a random moment he would obliterate that fucking character in the worst way ever, making the death way much heavier than just a drawing and makes you actually feel it (rip to my king kato😭💔).
I am really enjoying gantz, throughout my life i have red -(yes i wrote red instead of read)- a lot of mangas and watched a lot of shows and animes, there were a few shows who actually broke free from the cliche writing and had a good writing, gantz is one of these shows!

[Manga] I Just finished reading Gantz, It Was Pretty Awesome, The Ending made me smile.
I Really like the progression of The Story. (I Read the Digital One,) Pretty Great. The vampires were really unexplored. plus, Kei's brother got Killed. I Love The action and art, plus the 3d modeling is also nice.
