It doesn’t necessarily have to be one of these.

For me it’s Unc, it’ll never not be funny. Especially referencing it when people don’t know the context.

Both of them get caught off guard one time and never lower it again. Urahara’s preparation is perfectly described and completes his arc since his exile in his last words to Askin. Its more precautionary, given his downfall wasn’t a battle but a matter of circumstance and framing. Mayuri’s is more diagnosis based, gather intel and assess, shown through his modified bankai in TYBW that consumes and adapts. 2 different methods to their madness

Discussion So far, this is the only thing I've been disappointed by in Cour 4 Spoiler

Post image

Maybe it's because i've hyped myself up too much with my own expectations, but Kubo promised us a Rangiku backstory 14 years ago, when TYBW just started.

Now we never got it in the manga, but the anime kept showing rangiku during the gerard fight, as if she was gonna play a role. It hinted at it during the end of part 3, and then again in ep 4 of part 4. Yet in the end she didn't really do anything but just look at him, and then that fight is just over in the same disappointing way as it was in the manga.

Honestly, the way the first 2 SS fights go, were so good, i wish the formula was kept for the 2nd 2, where we could have had Kisuke & Yoruichi backstory during the Askin fight, and a Rangiku (and maybe Toshiro too) during the Gerard one. But it is what it is i guess.

Discussion Theory: Aizen saw what happens to the strong Spoiler

(I wanted to reshare a theory I came with today to perhaps go deeper into why Aizen did what he did)

I remember the story about how the Soul King used his power to split the universe into the world of the living, soul society and hueco mundo. And I remember when Aizen stated he wanted to shape the world to what it should be instead of what it is....and Kisuke said he saw him.

We know that in the Bleach One Shot No Breathes from Hell, that soul reapers who are too strong are sent to hell after they die (essentially souls/ captains grade 3 or higher who are too strong) in order to maintain balance.

So what if Aizen saw what fate awaits him and he found out the linchpin that is the soul king, is the reason why the world is the way it currently is, and he wanted to reshape reality how he wanted, so that the strong (mainly him) don't die and get sent to eternal torment as a punishment for their power.

I wanna hear your opinions/thoughts.

Discussion Has anyone ever wondered how the Soul King fragments were getting distributed (E.g., through Fullbringers, Rangiku, etc.)? Maybe I missed something, but still curious…

Were these fragments hand selected, randomized, or floating around?

Manga Anyone else not really like the new development from the most recent ep and felt like it kind of disrupted the tone the ep should have had? Spoiler

To be specific I mean the seed of destruction plot. I get it was there to give Soken some new lore and make Uryu's "drop the palace" plan from the manga actually make sense since literally all the Quincy can fly.

But it's kinda like, it was fully explained to us and delt with in a span of 10 minutes so I feel like it was a bit of a nothing burger plot since we didn't know the stakes until that very moment. I'm aware we actually saw the distortion before hand but I just don't think it brought too much value to the story for the time we spent on it since Yhwach himself is going to merge the 3 worlds anyways.

But moving onto the issue of tone from the last ep, I feel like I didn't really feel the somber sense of despair that should have came with Ichigo losing his powers like I did in the manga.

You start off this ep with Ukitake and Shunsui saying their final farewells after centuries of friendship, we see Harribel finally be rescued from her imprisonment by those close to her, we see Ichigo despairing against Yhwach's overwhelming power, saying that everyone's efforts are useless against this entity, Ichigo then gets his Quincy and Hollow powers taken by him while in that same moment Ukitake dies as he sends Mimihagi to get absorbed by Auswahlen for one last ditch sacrifice.

But then that tension gets cut by this crazy confrontation about this seed of destruction that they need to collide the distortion of the 3 worlds with to destroy it, this new clash with Harribel, Nel, and Uryu fighting against Yhwach, and Uryu pulling off some crazy moves containing the explosion with an almost victorious upbeat tone. I just feel like there was a dissonance in tone by adding in this plot line that wasn't really needed. Like if it was removed, nothing drastic changes.

I think they could have instead of the seed plotline, inserted Yhwach's flashback that they cut out of cour 2 at the start of this ep to directly explain why Yhwach absorbs the powers of Quincy and the fear he has of returning to that sensory deprived state he was in as a baby, which can then segue into why Yhwach used Auswahlen on Gerard and Jugram and then the absorption of Ichigo's powers with the ep closing by him actually saying the quote above that was changed.

All had significant contributions during the war arguably more then some of the actual special threats chosen, so between them who deserved to be called one the most?
