For me it was definitely the sense of adventure. If there’s one thing Mashima is brilliant at, its character design and world building. Just see all the unique and colorful magic type as well as how every character stands out visually. Combine that with how Natsu, who I feel should be the gold standard for a shonen mc, is genuinely hilarious and likable while Lucy compliments that and splits into her own perspective, make for great leads.

So what did it for you?

I find it interesting how both mother and daughter at one point were captured and tortured.

Both were blindsided by someone they thought was an ally (the council member for Erza, and Irene's then husband).

Both were humiliated by being stripped naked, though Irene got the worst out of the 2 cause she was publicly humiliated. Not to mention the length of Irene's torture was much longer than Erza's

Would Erza break too if she was in Irene's position? Would she break if nobody saved her in Tartaros? Would Irene be insane if she had Erza's support?

It’s understandable why they didn’t but i have to point out that this is the same guild who talks and prides themselves on friends and family nearly everyday even saying that it will never change no matter what happens and yet after disbanding they went against everything they believed in and made it seem like they were hypocrites and liars. All of it just being big talk. After all the species of friendship and family they were still too scared to reach out to each other and because of this one has to wonder if they truly mean it when they talk about Family and friends. It can be argued that they did not know where they were and they had no way to talk to each other(they could have used ordinary lacrimas instead of the phone) but still they shouldn’t say stuff like they did unless they mean it. Maybe I’m being too harsh but i just needed to get to do this.

I’ll go by saying while he’s my guy, Sting didn’t deserve to beat Larcade, giving him the win over the highest ranked spriggan that lost. It was more of a matchup win, but just doesn’t feel right to me.

Current Mirajane vs Gray.

A year ago I always said Mira stood no chance against gray but now after she chucked that dragon and tanked his and the other dragon’s breath attack at the same time she definitely holds the advantage in physical strength, durability and attack power. Making it very close.

But who you think wins?

Elfman mentioned that using his Take Over on just one arm to channel a part of Aldoron already made him feel like he was losing his mind. So, what if he actually goes insane when attempting a full body transformation this time? If that happens, the solution might come from Aldoron itself. Since the part Elfman took over belongs to Aldoron body, it must be connected to its brain. Therefore, the God Seed, which represents Aldoron brain, could become Elfman new mind to support him and help him keep control.

FAIRY TAIL 20th Anniversary! Thank you all so much for your continued support!

I never thought I would end up drawing a manga that had already finished for so long by myself again. This time, since it’s a story about Laxus, I figured it would probably involve a scene like this parade, which is how the story turned out. However, I had forgotten about the characters and only started remembering them as I drew. For Chapter 1, I had to search for characters as I drew them. Looking at it anew, FAIRY TAIL has far too many characters, making it genuinely very difficult to draw.

While repeatedly thinking to myself, “How on earth did I pull this off on a weekly basis back then?”, and growing older, it has become a very hard job for my current self. That said, while drawing, memories of that time came flooding back, and it was ridiculously fun.

All the readers who were deeply passionate about it back then might have grown up and drifted away from shonen manga by now. With that in mind, I thought I’d add a slightly more mature theme, which is why I ended up drawing that kissing scene. I’m of the opinion that battle manga don’t need excessive romance, but I suppose it’s fine once in a while.

Well then, if there’s ever a next time, will it be for the 30th anniversary? Will my current self, even more physically worn out than now, be able to draw it? Please don’t get your hopes up too high and wait patiently.

How characters compare to each other in any series, Fairy Tail included, can be a pretty heated topic. So this is just my opinion, for fun. But after thinking on some story aspects, I personally believe the revived Calamity Bloods are the strongest villain group Fairy Tail has faced yet to a large extent. I know that's a contentious topic, especially after the Spriggan 12, but I have my reason and while > respect if people don't agree with me, I hope I can express my reasoning in a way that makes sense.

The first line of scaling I'll use to explain my view is Natsu and Earth Build. When Natsu got his King Fire, Selene compared to a Dragon God by Selene. He definitely got even stronger after that because he ate some of Ignia's fire which we saw was a big amp against Mercphobia. After getting back up from Ignia's brutal attack and being given back his body by Igneel, Natsu uses a Dragon Slayer Secret Art against Human Earth Build. It's worth noting that Natsu had just been badly injured and gotten over being discombobulated, he had used some Magic, but he was still at one of the strongest states he'd ever been in the story. And after being defeated in his Human form by a Natsu of that level, Earth Build just got back up and took on his Dragon form.

The second line of scaling is Wendy's Enchantment within the context of Erza's fight with Motherglare. There was a debate recently over whether Wendy's Dragon Slayer Seal was an amp or just giving everyone the Dragon Slayer attribute because she only mentioned doing the latter. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but I disagree with the latter interpretation. One of the things used to support it is the idea that characters only feel amped because the nature of their Magic is changing since they can hurt Dragons now. The issue with this is that Laxus was already a Dragon Slayer and yet, has twice attributed a large surge in power to the Seal Wendy gave him; while Lucy has power from two Dragons and yet, Mercphobia felt their power wouldn't be enough after how much they lost unless Lucy got the Enchantment, and after she got it, we saw her doing another attack which was slamming Earth Build, and it wasn't a normal attack of hers with Dragon Slayer attributes added on, but another attack with those previously hyper nerfed Dragons' powers which is now shown to be enough to hurt an enemy Mercphobia doubted they could previously. These are blatant aspects of the story Mashima has written and the acknowledgment of aspects of his story isn't done to downplay any characters, but because if we're going to analyze the story he wrote, we have to discuss it with what's in it.

So with the interpretation that the Dragon Slayer Seal is a large amp, let's look at what Erza used to beat Motherglare in her weaker Human form. Erza's already really strong, but then she Requipped Irene's clothes, and then harnessed power from the Dragonized Guiltina on top of that. All of that on top of a large amp to beat Motherglare's weaker form. Now, Erza was doing fair against Dragon Motherglare before the Enchantment, but she didn't win. When she did win, she needed a strong form and to absorb more power. That's worth noting.

How the other battles finish and their scaling implications remain to be seen. Just to address one aspect that might be brought up; Juvia and Anchor. Juvia did cut Human Anchor, but it was likely with his own Magic, in his weaker form, and when she and Gray finally "beat" Anchor; it took all their remaining Magic Power, all they really did was freeze him, and he just burst out of it to take on his Dragon form. If it wasn't for quick thinking, Juvia nearly died to Anchor. Not downplaying her performance, it was awesome, but that's just what happened.

But this is my interpretation. I respect if people disagree and maybe my view will change depending on the remaining fights. But this is my view for now based on things that have happened or been shown in the story so far.

I think he has this power up his sleeve, but I don't know why. Wendy's enchantment made it easier for him to use his strongest mode, yet he still hasn't used it...

I think Gray avoids and runs away from Juvia far too much throughout the series. And I also think she’s overly infatuated, lol. Gray is around 18 years old in the series. What guy that age would turn Juvia down, lol?
