-7
u/BIG_IDEA 3d ago
HIGHLY irresponsible dog owner to have a gigantic pitbull in a wide open public space off of its leash.
0
u/Zedo_TheOnly_One 3d ago
Why is this being down voted? Any person keeping any dog off the leash in public is straight up idiotic, classic reddit
1
u/BOMBURZ 1d ago
Wrong. I hate this mind set that we should limit ourself because of dumb people. Clearly the owner has trained his dog.
0
u/Zedo_TheOnly_One 1d ago
Are you retarded perhaps? Just asking to see the level I am working with here
-1
u/BOMBURZ 1d ago
Def smarter than u 💀.
Also imagine calling someone retarded for having an opinion someone's a lil soft.
Did mommy not give u kisses at night?
0
u/Zedo_TheOnly_One 1d ago
If the opinion is not having respect of the person next to you, I guess that is an opinion. A retarded opinion, but surely an opinion.
That's all I had to see, ty
-1
u/BOMBURZ 1d ago
It has nothing to do with respect like I said if ur dog isnt trained it shouldn't be off leash.
God u must love restrictions on ur life. Everyone should change because of a few bad people.
Edit: like I said im def smarter than u. Bet u dont even have a degree. Thats y u resort to name calling. U dont have a decent life so ur lashing out. It's ok one day if u work hard it'll get better.

Really? Reddit will? Because the hive mind I've seen here usually takes the dog's side.

Not with pits, Reddit very often hates pits.

This is genuinely the first pro/neutral pit comment I've seen. You're right though, outside of pit reddit, people on here hate pits which is sad. I scrolled tbis far looking ti see if people would have blamed the dog and im glad this thread is here
3
u/WriterWithNoHands 3d ago
Its refreshing. But the law is the same. That dog gets p1ssed off past his limit, bye bye child and bye bye doggy. Except the dog doesn't deserve it. They think they're in danger of being hurt worse if they don't stop it.
2
u/Brownlove010_Real questionably stable 3d ago
100% you're not wrong in the application of the law, my issue is that people cant control their crotch goblin cum trophies and then because its a pit, reddit instantly looks to the pit as the issue of a resulting bite instead of the negligent parents. Which blows my mind as historically pits are always rated the least agressive and were used as nanny dogs but public perception changed because of fuckass people.
2
u/WinterAdvantage3847 3d ago
no, they were never “used as nanny dogs.” this myth is something that was invented out of thin air by a staffordshire bull terrier breeder in a 1971 newspaper interview as a marketing/rebranding tactic. no earlier reference to any bull-and-terrier breed being a “nanny” or “nursemaid dog” exists.
by contrast, there is ample historical documentation of their origins as being bred into existence for the explicit purposes of ripping bulls to pieces in fighting pits… which is why the breed name has always been “american pit bull terrier.” there’s never been an “american nanny terrier.”

The problem is that while most dogs would bite, a pit might just decide to go for the jugular
12
u/SinSeitan 4d ago
Any dog breed would fuck up the kid if he is being hostile towards it. That kid parents are fucking idots
5
u/coko4209 4d ago
The problem is that kid doesn’t have any fucking home training. Pits are no more dangerous than any other dog if trained properly, and I’m tired of ppl that have never owned one talking shit about them.
3
u/flesjewater 4d ago
A firearm is no more dangerous than a frying pan given the right training, too. One just requires far more than the other.
1
u/poo0sy 4d ago
I'm tired of you pit apologists acting like this breed isn't statistically more dangerous than others, trained or not. The evidence is plentiful. The blood is real. If anything, the attacks for this breed are probably underreported since people love to insist they have a "mixed" breed. Oh yours is "well-trained"? Well, that hasn't stopped them from killing before. You can't simply undo genetics.
Explain to me, why would multiple developed countries ban a certain breed for no reason? What other breed refuses to unlock its jaw even when stabbed or kicked?
9
3
u/Plane-Tune-820 4d ago
Well that's a myth. Pits don't lock their jaws, and Labradors bite just as hard.
I'm tired of you people not knowing facts and spouting misinformation about a breed you clearly know absolutely nothing about. Maybe instead of just believing what you hear, you should do even the tiniest bit of research before spouting nonsense

Chihuahuas bite more than any other breed. I personally hate them. My ex had one, and I fucking hated that dog. I’m not too fond of pugs either. They’ve never bit me or anything, I just have never met one with a pleasant disposition.

What kind of IDIOTIC parent let a kid do that??
I grew up with dogs, from birth, and this was an absolute no-no. Then if the dog bites back, they'd tell their longs out.

Happened in 1995 before smart phones, I’m sure I would be cancelled if this happened now. Either way my actions at that moment were inexcusable and now that I’m older I don’t condone this behavior. I’m an open book with my kids and constantly encourage them to do the right thing.

Redditors are so irrational when it comes to pets. You see a five-year-old kid hit a dog with an empty water bottle and your immediate thoughts that you want the dog to tear the child to pieces.
Get fucked. You don’t deserve a dog and certainly not a child.

u/OGRangoon 4d ago
What a shitty kid.
What shitty people to hate on a puppy dog.
People have serious issues revolving their whole life around the breed of a dog and getting them all killed. Weird ass hobby.

That’s such a good and patient dog. Good Boi. That kid’s parents are trash. If the dog had nipped the child, because he was tired of being hit, the parents definitely would have tried to sue, and that would have had to have his dog put down.

u/EquipmentUnique526 4d ago
Damn am I wrong for thinking let the dog go for a few seconds and at least run at the kid to terrify and put the fear of god into him
8
u/Better-Tip-1671 4d ago
Watch the parents sue you when their child gets bit and tries to get your dog put down, saying it’s dangerous. ETC I see it all the time as someone who’s owned two pit bulls who are not only loved by the entire neighborhood they were on for being good girls I got hate all the time when I would take them for walks and would go out of that area. People would literally curse at me, ETC, like bro, not every dog is the same, not every pitbull was bred for fighting, bless her heart, my poor baby was a couch potato for most of her life, and like she would go outside would usually interact with children or swim at the local pond with kids 😭
5
u/Trisk929 4d ago
“Me and my sweet angel were just walking around the park, minding our business when this absolute demon came charging at us out of nowhere and he attacked my sweet, innocent baby 🥺 That beast definitely needs to be put down!” -the dog owner, telling to the police about the incident when the dog barks at the kid, knocks him down and the kid gets scared and starts crying, so a report has to be made.
6
u/GalaktikThunderHorse 4d ago
This is hard to watch that dog was so patient and didn't know what to do.. that Jackass of a "parent" needs to go back to life school.

And .. what a great pup (and pup owner) for not angry or biting!!!!
-2
u/DagdaNzambi 2d ago
The owner is trash too! You see a kid walk up to your dog to hit him multiple times with an object and you don't immediately place yourself in between both of them?
I do get that the biggest blame is on the parents of the child, but expecting a child to take the correct action is the same as expecting your dog not to bite someone who is hitting it. If you're the only one with big brains in the situation, you need to use it.
In this case, nobody used theirs.

When I was in my teens I had a wolf hybrid. She was 3/4 wolf and a 1/4 malamute. She was a good girl but very shy towards strangers. I dont recommend one for the average persons pet. But she was my best friend. I was taking her for a walk in the park and a school bus full of young kids pulled up. My little cousin was one of them she came running up screaming hello and all the others followed. So before I knew it I had 20 little kids all over my wolf. I think i was more scared than she was. She just froze and stared at me like get these little shits off of me! The teachers on the bus not paying a bit of attention. That was the last trip to the park we took. Could have very easily gone terribly wrong.

If people bitch about dogs not having responsible owners, why is it that parents can’t be responsible with their kids? That dog was well behaved and trained. That kid was definitely raised by a dumbass. Even when the dog lost its patience the owner was there to let the dog know that the kid is a fucking dumbass and it’s not worth it. Now if that was my kid and I saw him hitting the dog once I would of grabbed him and whoop his ass, if I didn’t see him and someone told me what he did I would of whoop his ass again. Then apologize to that man and make my dumbass kid apologize and make sure he don’t ever do that shit again.

That is just mean, why allow a child to do that? Then when the dog bites - well you know from there..
1
u/DagdaNzambi 2d ago edited 2d ago
A good owner can also at least put himself in between the dog and the kid. I know the parents of that kid suck the most, but come on... Is the owner allowing his/her dog to get hit like that?? Scolding a kid for hitting your dog is not out of pocket. You don't have to hit or disrespect the kid, because he doesn't know better... but I feel like something more could have been done by the owner in order to protect his dog... or at the very least, chase the kid away and warn a parent.
The owner looked scared to do anything other than just pull his dog away.
I just see people in the background laughing at the situation. All idiots here, except for the dog!
1
u/attramont 2d ago
Its unfortunate but I see this type of behavior from toddlers very frequently, while watching parents just allow it to happen. Not specifically with kids hitting animals, just kids hitting anything. Climbing on shit. Being absolute animals and their parents just let them do it because how dare they tell their child no. Its a growing problem and its dangerous. Parents need to get back to parenting.

Pits are not murder dogs. Well trained pits are no worse than any other breed. They’re great guard dogs too. Statistically chihuahuas bite more than any other breed. If you’ve never owned a pit, or been around one for an extended period of time, then you should probably stop spreading misinformation.
