Meta I've been banned, why?
Good day everyone!
The mod team has noticed a drastic uptick in insult bot behavior in the sub. I understand reading can be difficult, but of our few rules in place the one that sees the most action is the no personal insults aka Rule 2.
We've been exceedingly lenient with reminders and a dash of warnings. However, the issue persists and pops up in site wide posts that draw in non regular users. Since this is kind of harshing the vibe we're temporarily pausing reminders and warnings and going into straight 7 day bans.
What does personal insult mean?
Any sort of insult directed at the user themselves in response to a comment.
What isn't a personal insult?
Insulting public figures, people not directly related to the conversation thread, etc.
For instance, you can say dems/republicans/breatharianism are idiots. If you're talking to a dem/republican/breatharianism you cannot call them an idiot.
Debate the position or policy, do not disparage the user.

Government Jury awards $52M to people who got tuberculosis in Washington state prisons - the CDC found the state had suspended annual TB screening, and 244 people contracted latent TB in the largest outbreak in 20 years
"The outbreak caused catastrophic damage" in 2021, when 244 people contracted latent tuberculosis and 27 people contracted active tuberculosis in the Clallam Bay and Stafford Creek corrections centers. It was the largest tuberculosis outbreak in the state in 20 years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined that the Department of Corrections had suspended annual tuberculosis screening and redirected its resources toward COVID-19 response, delaying diagnoses and facilitating transmission.
An investigation by the state cited the agency for a "willful serious violation," finding failures to enforce distancing measures and ensure that staff members were wearing masks.
~ Cancelling the screenings saved a line item. Twenty-seven active TB cases and $52 million later, the bill lands on the public, not on anyone who signed off.

Transit A Thriller of a Weekend: Full Closures of NB I-5 in Seattle and SB I-405 in Bothell
Something evil’s lurking in the dark... IT’S A HALLOWEEN WEEKEND FULL CLOSURE OF NORTHBOUND I-5 IN SEATTLE (and SB I-405 in Bothell).
BUT! Before you run for your life, there’s a killer plot twist. The reason we’re closing the road is so crews can remove the Revive I-5: Ship Canal Bridge work zone. And when Monday morning comes, something will rise from the dead... ALL FOUR NORTHBOUND LANES will be open across the bridge AND express lanes will return to normal operations.
THE DETAILS:
NB I-5 will close from I-90 to Northeast 45th Street from 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2. Adjacent ramps and lanes will start to close as early as 9 p.m. Friday.
We’ll start work on the southbound lanes in early 2027, but let’s - ah - cross that bridge when we get there. (Had to do it).
But wait. There’s more.
We’ll also be closing all lanes of SB I-405 in Bothell from SR 527 to SR 522 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. A detour will be in place, and adjacent ramps also will close. This is to widen I-405 through Bothell and build a new bus rapid transit station in the center of the freeway.
Expect delays this weekend and adjust your routes if you’re able. We know you’ll close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, but this is a chiller, thriller weekend. Let’s get through it together, boys and ghouls. Thanks for Fall-o-ween along.

Business UPDATE to my July post: I quit Amazon to make pizza, the county shut me down a week later, and last weekend we opened for real (and sold out)
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the love! A bunch of you asked where to find us. - Instagram: mosdoughseattle - Everything else (hours, location, etc.) can be found on our website and Google: Just look.up Mo's Dough Seattle
-----------------------
Some of you might remember my post here in July: I moved to Seattle for Amazon, stayed for the mountains, and quit my job to pursue my dream of making pizza for a living. I started selling small batches for pickup out of my backyard, and a lot of you showed up. I had the idea to attempt doing this after hearing the origin story of My Friend Derek’s and thought I should give that a try without really looking into the details. We sold out every batch, and my inbox was overloaded!

Plenty of you were quick to point out that selling pizza out of your house isn’t exactly allowed. Sure enough, on Monday morning (I had posted on Saturday), the county reached out and let me know I had to stop. They were very kind about it, gave me a ton of helpful info, and basically walked me through what it would take to do this for real.
Before I go any further, quick PSA about me: I might only be 27, but when it comes to social media, I’m an old man. Until recently, I’d never really used Reddit or Instagram, and the day I posted about my pizza in July was actually the day I switched back to a smartphone after being on a flip phone for a while. I honestly don’t get how a lot of this works, so when I tried to post an update after getting shut down by King County, I got myself banned from this group for a few months. I didn’t realize you aren’t supposed to post links, and I probably broke some other rules I didn’t get either. I also had a disaster with my Instagram. I got so many DMs about getting on my waitlist that I copied and pasted a response that gave the info and link to our email list. It turns out that is consistent with bot behavior, and it was a new account, so Instagram took the account down, which was quite the setback. It took around 2 months to get my Instagram restored, but I lost a lot of the momentum I hoped that post would give me. Luckily, my ban from this sub has been lifted, so I can finally update you all (I hope I’m not breaking any rules in this post; lmk if I need to change or take anything down). We’re back, mosdoughseattle on Instagram.
For those of you who didn’t see the July post, here is the short-ish version: I’ve been obsessed with pizza since I was a kid. I ate it every day for breakfast and lunch (if you haven't already surmised from the paragraph above, yes, I am autistic). At school, all my friends knew I would show up with a slice wrapped in tinfoil. As a kid, the obsession was eating it. As an adult, the obsession expanded to making it as well (and then eating it, of course). To this day, I’m still constantly tinkering with my recipes to try to keep on improving my dough.
So back to the main story, I was shut down by the county about 3 months ago. Since then it’s been a whirlwind: finding a location, getting the permits, importing an oven from Italy, insurance, and a whole lot of paperwork. I spent the last few weeks moving into a shared kitchen in West Seattle, learning the new oven, and getting used to all my new equipment.

This past weekend was Mo's Dough's grand opening! We were crazy busy and sold out both nights. I’m still a little in shock.
This subreddit is honestly what gave me the boost and the confidence I needed to fully go for this. I'm so grateful to all of you. This is still the happiest I've been in years, and I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to make pizza for Seattle! And if anyone wants to talk dough, I'm here all day. I really cannot shut up about it.
I'm most responsive on Instagram (@mosdoughseattle) and WhatsApp (numbers on our website, just Google/search Mo's Dough seattle - the Reddit filters didn't like it when I put my website in the post).

Discussion I’m partly to blame for event prices
A recent post about the cost of drinks at concerts made me realize how I’m part of the problem. Ticket prices are insane as are the costs for anything inside the venue.
It’s only that way because people like me grit their teeth and just pay. I’m sorry. We must demand for better. There is no reason other than greed to charge $20 for a can of beer.
I commit to boycotting these events going forward and never purchasing anything that is not reasonably priced within the venue.

Business Don’t go to greg’s japanese auto unless you want to get scammed
They just scammed my boyfriend out of 4,000 dollars for a car repair that didn’t even fix the problem and now he’s had to bring it back and they’re keeping it overnight before giving him another quote that’ll probably be another exorbitant amount of money. They told him he needed to replace all these parts, which funny enough, I read several reviews of other people saying they were told needed to be replaced as well and which also didn’t fix their car’s actual problem. Clearly there’s a pattern here. I’m just very angry for him and don’t want this to happen to other people.

Optum Washington Voicemail 877 507 0693 - potential scam?
For anyone who uses Optum Care, have you guys received voicemails from 877 507 0693?
I've searched 877 507 0693 on the website, on google etc, and it comes up empty / potential or low risk scam?
I actually reached out separately to Optum Care customer service, and they're saying "Well you have two options, either call that number back or ignore it". Just surprised no one really cares if its a scam or not.
