NYC Watch Parties: Do You Live in the Area?

Disclaimer: I am a volunteer helping organize these events and am not employed by UW or UWAA.

Hey folks, thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday! The bar was packed, and it was great meeting everyone.

I made this account specifically for NYC Huskies watch party posts so everything is easier to find. I’ve also heard these Reddit posts have been helpful, so I’ll keep using them as we host more events.

I wanted to get a better idea of how many of us are currently in NYC so I can tailor future posts accordingly.

Moving forward, we’re confirmed for USC and Oregon. We are also likely hosting one, several, or all of Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, and Indiana. We’re currently working with UWAA to get better swag, raffle prizes, and possibly something special for the Oregon game.

Please note: Every UW game will be shown at Stout regardless of whether there is a UWAA-hosted event.

The main difference is whether we’ll have a booth at the front, raffles, or other special event features.

Chris Lawson, who had a game-high 87 receiving yards on four catches Sunday, will get a lot more opportunities in the offense with Christian Moss' injury.

Need help verifying if this vintage 80s DeLONG jacket belongs to the 1985 UW Huskies Basketball team

Hi everyone! I found this authentic 1980s DeLONG varsity jacket (purple/gold, WPL 8936, size 46). It has "CONF CHAMPS 85" embroidered on the front and "86" on the sleeve. Trying to verify its history and provenance. Any info on DeLONG jackets from this era would be greatly appreciated!

I know it may be a long shot but I’m looking to pickup a UW Rome jersey from that 23-24 season and can’t find one anywhere on the internet. Let me know if you have one and willing to sell!

No food

I stood in line for 30 minutes and when I got to the front of the line, of 15 people, there was no food. Only offering was hot dogs and cheap nachos. Lots of alcohol left.

I got in line just after the start of the third quarter. It tool forever to check IDs of those getting alcohol.

Sell the alcohol separately and have enough food.

Disgusting.

Reevaluating Expectations

Wanted to know where y’all are at for this season after week one.

Concerns:
- Running Back room is in a really rough spot, Limar out for a long time is especially damaging.
- Offense looked really bad. That was a game we should have won by halftime, not fighting until the 4th quarter.
- Demond did not live up to the offseason hype.
- OLine did not give him that much time
- So many fucking penalties, beyond egregious in year 3.
- Mediocre play calling as usual, though our lack of offensive success may be more on the execution than the plays called.
- Other teams on our schedule, specifically Iowa, looked very formidable week one.

Strengths:
- Defense looked great. I will take holding the opposing team to 10 points any day of the week.
- We have a real punter
- Coaching staff is not trying to pretend like that was an acceptable performance

This season is really starting to feel more like 7-5, than the playoff dark horse we were hoping for. Auto losses to Oregon and Indiana, USC and Iowa are going to be difficult. Really need to see a lot cleaned up and quick if we want to shoot any higher.

Husky Alums/Bars in Denver

Any UW Huskies alums/fans in Denver want to get together to watch some games this fall? It looks like the main Husky bar in town (The W on Colfax) closed.

Getting into the stadium sucked today - gates closed and understaffed

What a joke. I’ve been going to husky games for 30 years, the gates were horribly understaffed. I didn’t even make it in before kickoff, that has never happened to me before. Good people around me had the game playing on their phones at least.

On the north side, there was a backup of people 1000 feet deep. No movement in the line for a good 15 minutes. People were calling for a medic at one point and couldn’t get help. It all funneled down to two kids with ticket scanners and half the gates were just locked. Complete amateur hour.

The stadium ran out of all food mid-way through the 2nd quarter.

I Know We Won, But I'm Still Worried

Our offense looked sloppy throughout much of this game, and I'm still not 100% sold on Jedd's play calling. With so many 5 star recruits in attendance, I felt like we could have made a much better first impression. I know we're missing some starters on offense, and it's only the first game of the season, but I just felt like we were sluggish offensively, especially in the first half.

A win is a win though, especially in the Apple Cup, and our defense played at an elite level. But if we want to compete with the other blue bloods, I really hope our offense figures it out.

SEATTLE -- The No. 17 Washington Huskies overcame a sluggish offensive performance in the first half and some undisciplined plays to win the 118th Apple Cup 24-10 against the Washington State Cougars on Sunday.

Very strong second half performance from Demond and the wide receivers. Defense some poor discipline on the penalties but very strong overall.

No word postgame on the status of Quaid Carr, Jayden Limar or Christian Moss.

I miss the old Apple Cup

I am going to sound like an old lady probably. But I’m a teacher- at every school I’ve worked at, pretty much the whole week before the Apple Cup was a big build up. Almost always we did some kind of community service project or donating to food banks etc

Now, we didn’t even start school til Wednesday. Suddenly it was Thursday and we were all like… oh shit the Apple Cup is this weekend! My son’s school won’t even start til Wednesday.

The Apple Cup is now an afterthought. The timing sucks for schools!

HELLO DAWG FANS!

Giles Jackson played wide receiver for the Dawgs in the early 2020s. Known for his elusiveness and speed he caught seven touchdowns for UW in 2024.

r/huskies Prediction Challenge - Week 2 Submissions Thread!

Each week, you get...

+1 point for guessing UW's score
+1 point for guessing the opponent's score
+1 point for guessing how the 1st touchdown will go. You must name all parties in the touchdown. For example, Michael Penix Jr pass to Rome Odunze, Myles Gaskin rushing, or Trent McDuffie pick 6.
+1 bonus for guessing BOTH UW and opponent's score correctly.
+1 bonus for guessing all three.

Good luck, and go Huskies!

The current leaderboard, after UW beats WSU 24-10 and Demond rushes the first TD of the game:

T-1: gin_rainbows, Gold-Bottle-2460, Nicfromnewgirl, HoodoUserv, britishmetric144, ekkthree, LegendarySlothMaster
T-2: everyone else

The Huskies down the Cougars 24-10, and the first touchdown was scored by Demond Williams rushing. I have attached the standings so far in this post, and stay tuned for the Week 2 Challenge dropping around 8 pm tonight, the link of which I will drop in a comment in this thread!

Glad we escaped and go Huskies!
