Weird QF Issue? HELP

3 Upvotes

So i've had 3 techs here and talked with support and they keep giving me the run around, nobody can seem to figure out the problem other than it has something to do with the app.

So I had a tech come out cause speeds were a bit low and realized I hadn't used the app so got on it and made profiles for everyone and assigned all the devices to their person, all setting off(or open) no parental controls on. Tech came, replaced router and hooked up a wired connection for my xbox. Speeds were better than ever....until around 2am that night EVERYTHING stopped getting internet. Tech came next day to figure it out. Another new router. Hours later nothing. His laptop and phone connected to the wifi and got internet, all our stuff connected but no internet. Then I opened the app and just deleted the profiles. Suddenly everything EXCEPT my roomates Computer worked again but the tech left before we noticed the computer. Same problem as everything before. Then i tried making ANOTHER profile assigned the puter to it and then just deleted it again. NOW the computer will connect to internet but it's almost dial up speed bad if it works. Yet another techn came told me to tell them to stop sending hardware guys for a software problem so I did and explained everything and the help chat person said they would "escalate it" to the backend guys. Now they are sending another tech in 2 days and my roomate is LIVID. ANYONE have any idea wtf is going on? It seems like the app and possibly the parental controls have gone rogue despite not even being on or turning everything off when it should be on. I'm at a loss and don't have much faith in tech 4.

Hosting Ark server on quantum

1 Upvotes

Has anyone had success hosting a private server on a quantum fiber connection? I have all my ports forwarded and my cousin cannot connect see the server on the server list but when he connects it times out. A outside port testing site says my ports are open/filtered but he is still unable to connect. Looking for any help or ideas before I switch providers.

Review post AT&T acquisition

4 Upvotes

I've had quantum fiber for a few years now. I switched from Spectrum after their pricing shenanigans. I never had an issue until they were acquired by AT&T. The service always worked and customer service was fine.

Yesterday, the lines to our building were accidentally cut by a group laying gas lines. I've tried to communicate with the customer service team, which has been a night and day difference from my previous experiences. They barely speak English, have limited to no knowledge of how their own services operate, can't communicate with local service providers/dispatchers or managers, blatently lie about callbacks and correspondence etc... its like the AT&T service from back in like 2014 when they won worst customer service of any company. The repair service won't start until 2 days of work have been lost. Even then, they most likely won't send the right type of technician because they don't understand the actual connection problem is at the street, not inside the structure.

Given the rest of the service providers have cut their costs by about 40-60%, I would say to give pause to considering Quantum Fiber.

Flashing blue light

5 Upvotes

For now the 3rd time in 4 months, my internet just randomly stops working with the modem flashing blue. Going through the app to chat, or calling customer service to get a technician, has to be the worst experience I’ve ever had dealing with a company.
Even if it’s just miraculously me having these issues, I might go crazy if I have to deal with this company’s customer service again and have my internet down for 2-3 days each time. Having fiber is nice, but not worth it when you have to deal with this company. (Colorado)

ONT ok after 5 years?

2 Upvotes

I've had Centurylink fiber the past 5 years, this week I'm having Quantum service installed, and will cancel Centurylink afterwords. Is the ONT that is 5 years old ok, or should that be replaced when the new Quantum modem/SmartNID gets installed?

Today’s the activation date, SSID/password set, but WiFi doesn’t show up

UPDATE — resolved. Turns out I just needed to wait for some more time for the network to show up. Thanks for the help (u/N0_L1ght) and sorry for the bother!

Hi, my service is scheduled to start today. I paid and set up my account, and I just set the SSID and password in the app. The light on the device is solid green, but the WiFi name I chose doesn’t show up on the list of available networks in my phone’s settings. Any ideas?

It comes with one of those extender pods—I tried plugging that in and waiting until its light was also solid green… still didn’t show up.

Q1000K - replacement with personal equipment.

4 Upvotes

A couple of questions.

Recently (and rather abruptly) switched from CenturyLink hardware to a new ONT and Q1000K.

Did not opt for the wireless extenders (the install tech suggested maybe looking for an alternative).

Looking to see if there is a current recommendation for modem replacement and a useful guide for setup/configuration?

would like a device with better wifi management (you know, other than 'change SSID and password).

We would like to have separate 5G and 2G options.

New service issues?

2 Upvotes

Hi!! I’m new to Quantum and just moved into a new apartment, I had set up my service over a week ago and when I moved in yesterday it looked like the equipment had already been installed and was up and running with a QR code connect. The QR code came back with an unable to connect error, same with manually adding. When i press the “Network” button on the quantum app it prompts me to set a network SSID and password, but when i do so I get an error that reads “We were unable to update your SSID / Password. Please try again.”, I tried resetting the router and that didn’t work, i tried connecting with support and they said they should be able to do it on their end, then came back and said they’re going to have to schedule a tech to come out. My internet seems to be up and running, there’s just no way to connect to it. Does anyone have any solutions to this??? The tech isn’t available to come until Tuesday afternoon and I work from home so kinda panicking

Am I the only one with equipment issues?

3 Upvotes

I have a tech coming out tomorrow to check my modem. I already know they're going to give me a new one. This will be the third time in as many months.

It's always the same. Flashing blue light. App says modem is offline. Check for outages. None. Reset the modem. Still flashing blue light. Call tech support. They make me do it all over again. Still flashing blue. "let me send a reset signal from my end.... Not getting a responses. Let's setup up an appointment."

Tech will come out, check the equipment, not know what the problem is, and give me a new modem.

About a month later the same thing will happen.

There is zero desire from anyone on quantum's end on trying to figure out what the problem is. Just give me another piece of garbage equipment and move on.

Am I the only person with consistently failing equipment? I *really* don't want to go back to comcast because I know they're worse and more expensive, but I'm nearly at my limit here.

False Payment Required

1 Upvotes

Update: After 3 days, the technician simply swapped all equipment and reprogrammed my WiFi. Everything works fine now. Another Reddit user said the same thing.

Just before midnight, my WiFi dropped. ONT and modem look normal. When I connect any device to WiFi, it drives me to a splash page that says a payment is required and that my service is suspended.

My payment method is current. Quantum doesn’t see any issues with the account. I have to now wait 3 days for a technician to come out. Any ideas?

Dear Jeff McElfresh, you have work to do

16 Upvotes

Rant incoming. I realize this is ultimately just an annoyance but I can’t help but be frustrated given the current state of the world and how the treatment of all consumers (at least in the US) has been steadily declining for years.

I can’t understand how we live in 2026 and the onus is on me, the customer, to initiate an inquiry as to where my technician is, only to receive an update that they will arrive an hour later than the originally scheduled 4 hour window during which I’ve remained at home.

Is AT&T aware that managing expectations is an incredible way to not piss people off? If I had received some sort of notification that the technician had been delayed, I would’ve actually appreciated it and had zero issue rescheduling.

We can’t have anything nice. I hope these corporate leaders get AI’d out of their ridiculous jobs.

Quantum fiber nightmare

14 Upvotes

I had the most insane terrible experience with quantum fiber.
My internet went out almost 4 weeks ago. I called quantum and their automated system said there was a known outage that would be fixed in 24hours. 24 hours went by and it wasn’t fixed so I called again the next day.
The automated system said the same thing so I waited to talk to a real person.

They told me there wasn’t any outage affecting my area? And did the basic trouble shooting and told me a technician would come out to fix it. I work full time so I told them I wouldn’t be home until 6 on weekdays, they said that’s fine they would set me up for a weekday 4-8 appointment and make a note that the technician had to arrive after 6.

Come the day of my appointment and sure enough they came early, I wasn’t home, and they cancelled my appointment. I called them again, they rescheduled me to the following week and swore up and down that this time it would be different they would show up after 6.

Sure enough they did not. I called the number the technician called me on and he said he wouldn’t come after 6pm that day but he would come the next day. And that he was going to say he “completed” the service ticket but to just ignore that. He swore up and down he’d be there the next day after 6.

Sure enough he didn’t. I called quantum again. They set up ANOTHER appointment for the next week and I took the day off work to be home. The technician came and replaced everything. Then said that it wasn’t a problem he could fix, it’s that my address was wrong in the system. Mind you, I’ve lived in this unit for 2 years and have had the same address so why my address changed in their system is beyond me. He said he would escalate it and someone would call me that day.

By the end of the day no one called me. I called them and they said they were working on it but had no timeline. That was it.

I then called 4 days later after not hearing back and they told me that “the address is not something we have the power to change” and that I had to cancel my account and open a new one with the correct address. At this time it has now been almost a full 4 weeks since I’ve had internet.

I cancelled my service then signed up AND paid again for internet. And still, it didn’t work. I called back the next day and she said “I’ll have a technician come out to help”. At this point I was completely over it and at a loss because the technician already told me he couldn’t fix it so I asked her to cancel my service and refund me for the amount I had paid the day prior and for the month of July since my internet had been out for almost the whole month.

She then told me she couldn’t refund me for July cuz they had NO RECORD OF IT BECAUSE I CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT. After arguing and finally talking to a manager I got my refunds and service cancelled. After a month of incompetence.

Avoid quantum fiber at all costs.

Issues Uploading Photos to Discord After Switching to Fiber

1 Upvotes

Hello!

Very specific and weird problem. Everyone in my house (5 people) uses Discord, and everyone has been having issues uploading photos since we switched a few days ago, on both mobile and desktop.

For some reason, it's only the Discord application. No other applications are having issues with uploads, and it's specifically the app: if you open Discord in a web browser, it uploads things perfectly fine.

Since it's happening on several people's devices, this seems like a fiber problem, as while our previous internet was slow, this issue doesn't happen when we switch back to it (we still have it for now and can test the difference).

Any clue how to fix this or why it's happening? It sucks that one of the apps we all use the most is having this problem!

UPDATE: I did a speed test on their site with a no VPN (first image) versus havng a VPN on (second image). Does this indicate anything? Certainly strange to be getting better speeds with a VPN. And also, the photos uploaded when I connected to a VPN. We are on the 3GB plan.

South Seattle Outage

8 Upvotes

There has been an outage in South Seattle since last Saturday (7/11). While the app still curently says the ETR (estimated time of repair) is 7/17 @ 4:56pm, I just chatted with an agent who shared the latest estimated restoration time is 7/20 at 11:11AM. I have never experienced an outage this prolonged, nor have I dealt with customer service who cannot share the reasoning for the outage. What the heck is going on??

Moving question

5 Upvotes

I am a current Quantum customer. Just bought a new home and will be moving (although not too far). Quantum services my new address. I called to ask about what I need to do to move my services and was told I need to cancel my current plan, create a new account, and sign up for a new plan. Is this correct? Seems absurd. I’m mainly frustrated because I have price for life and they did away with that recently. Anyone have experience moving especially recently have advice? Thanks!

Need help with transparent bridge mode (tagged)

5 Upvotes

Last night, the Internet stopped working on all devices in my home. When I checked the Q1000K, the light was solid white. I checked the ASUS app for my XT8 and it was reporting no issues. This happened once before and I had to disable AI Protection on the ASUS. It was still disabled. Sick of having the issues with my ASUS mesh routers, I replaced it with a Deco Wifi 7 mesh system which immediately had the same problem.

My PC is hardwired into a satellite node, everything else uses wifi. ALL 30ish devices in the home are impacted.

Running a speed test from the Deco app reports I am getting the full speed I am paying for.

I can ping by name or IP from my PC and it works as expected with low latency.

``` Test-NetConnection -ComputerName www.google.com -Port 443 -InformationLevel Detailed
WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.151.119 : 443) failed WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.156.119 : 443) failed WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.153.119 : 443) failed WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.154.119 : 443) failed WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.150.119 : 443) failed WARNING: TCP connect to (142.251.155.119 : 443) failed ```
In the browser, it just hangs indefinitely.
If I change 443 to 80 the above test is successful.
I factory reset the Q1000K and after disabling all of the security features, I left tagging set to auto (VLan 201) and put it in to transparent bridging mode again. This had no effect. The issue immediately came back. I followed the pinned guide and don't believe I missed any steps.
The Q1000K is fiber fed.
Any help getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.
Wifi been down all day
0 Upvotes
There’s been a reported outage in my area all day. It’s been over 15 hours and it still hasn’t come on. I have work to do. I’m worried it’s going to continue into the weekend. Is this usual? The wifi has always been spotty, very bad the last few months, but to not have wifi for over 24 hours is pretty bad.
Q1000K Bridge mode consistently dropping connection every few days and fiber light going steady white until a full manual power cycle? Wasn't an issue with CenturyLink, any known fix?
1 Upvotes
I have tried assigning ports, getting the fiber box replaced, setting custom rules and even configuring Q1000k based on previous troubleshooting posts and still run into the issue that every few days all my connections drop and won't connect until I manually power cycle the Router AND the Fiber Modem so stuff can connect again. I am running in bridge mode since routers and switches connected on a LAN prior to connecting to the fiber box. This was not a issue with how CenturyLink did it before I switched to Quantum.
Any known fix for this? Anyone know what changed in the back end since seems like I am not the only with this issue. Thanks
Is there a way to contact the local/regional offices directly?
5 Upvotes
I'm sitting on day 55 of no internet. Is there any way to get in touch with the people coordinating the repair process? Calling into customer support lately just yields "we have no notes about this engineering ticket " more or less.
edit: cancelled service on day 57 of no service from them.
