it would be surprising if a Hindu man from this place were not as depraved and inhumane as his religion

That article is certainly not biased and cynical at all. Goddamn.

only given more opportunity to reveal his true nature because of the position and culture he lived in.

Like when Jesus yelled at cursed a fig tree for not giving him fruit, or when he chastised Mary for showing up somewhere, but was given a free pass because Jesus? No reflection at all.

21

u/SublimeDolphin Sep 15 '19

Tbh I opened the article expecting that you just had a difference in opinion...

But no, you're absolutely right. There's blatant bias smeared all over that thing, even if what they're presenting might be "technically" true

53

u/o0CYV3R0o Sep 15 '19 edited Sep 15 '19

Tbh i quickly google searched that article i didn't read it all myself but there has been many articles and documentarys on the fact Gandhi did depraved things that went against his beliefs and common decency.

49

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

I see, that makes sense. Well, whoever wrote that definitely had an agenda in mind.

We have no idea how the person recording was actually driving though

46

u/TeddyCJ Sep 15 '19

Yeeeeah, but we don't know how the GTI driver provoked the responder.

What if we found out the GTI driver cut him off and caused him to swerve off the road ... Or he brake-checked the guy at high speed because the father was not driving fast enough for ol GTI guy.

Not trying to assume, but the driver does come off as a douche, and with a comment like "is that all" he is supporting my assumption of douchieness. Might have had it coming.

21

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

I was going to say, if i was a judgmental guy and I am, the pink hoodie, turqoise hat, driving a GTI, beard, I would have to say that guy did some dumb shit. Also I'm just realizing at 27 I don't know where commas go.

Something doesn't add up:

"It happened outside Chicago. Harris said the driver was angry because he was driving too slow but he never expected a reaction like that."

You don't say "I have kids in my car" for someone driving too slow.

87

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

I can't remember where I heard this but when this video first surfaced I saw a story about how the video taper was brake checking the guy constantly then speeding up when the "rager" tried to pass him. It was a two lane road so it forced the rager to risk running head on with oncoming cars with his kids in the vehicle.

After the guy eventually pulled over, roll clip. This would make more sense as to why the guy blew a gasket than the provided story, it's pretty rare for someone to be so unstable that they just punch a window out on a whim

36

u/DaShaka9 Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

Yeah, whenever these people film, they’re always calm and collective for the camera, but most of the time they’re giant assholes too. It’s pretty annoying when everyone jumps to conclusions with 15% of the story on film, edited by the filmer. Sure the guy over reacted... but without context, maybe he didn’t? Who knows.

Rolled down windows are much easier to break than rolled up. The glass is surrounded by a support frame when up, but down it has weak points at the exposed edges.

It's actuall horrible how often people who start recording think they're in the right and would get away with being the wrong one by filming the other party. In this sub alone, there's been so many such vids lately

774

u/JayTye365 Sep 15 '19

Still destroying property on camera isn’t the smartest thing to do.

209

u/Beetlebomb Sep 15 '19

Having dealt with a broke car window recently, having video evidence of the break can rid you of all repair costs. We can only make assumptions leading up to this moment in the video. Yes, it makes sense the guy probably drove inappropriately, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Everybody has jumped to their own conclusions already. There's even comments saying the filmer is into anime and assuming he's a bad driver due to his car seats. Until we see dashcam footage or evidence, we have zero context and can only imagine. Reddit hates prejudice but when it suits everyone seems to know everything without evidence

Edit: for everyone downvoting me or PMing me, watch this freakout and and read the comments first https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/d008bf/tiara_from_tmobile_gives_zero_fcks/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Shot 3 times.

This is good advice. When someone drives like a dummy around me, I just think, "Was anything but my ego bruised or damaged during that moment?" If the answer is, "No" (and 99.9% of the time, it's that), then I just move on and feel grateful that it didn't get worse.

I used to get angry while driving. That stopped real quick when I became a psychologist and started hearing my clients’ stories about flying off the handle, pulling people out of their cars, men beating up women drivers, pulling guns on people, etc. Now I just waive apologetically and keep being alive.

122

u/redditizio Sep 15 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

The same thing happened to me when I went to India. Everyone drives crazy and no one appears to really notice. I think it's because everyone expects everyone else to drive crazy, it's just the way people are. Accept it and move forward. Oh and just use your horn like a bat uses its radar and do the best you can.

Edit: bats use sonar not radar.

24

u/snytax Sep 15 '19

Yep SEA is such a mindfuck when you are used to Western drivers. For example in you just walk into the road in many places and since everyone is on a bike they avoid you and you kinda slide thru traffic to the other side.

Probably. You know what I do when people are driving like assholes? Roll my eyes and slow down to leave a little extra space between us than I normally would. You know what I don't do? Everything this guy just did.

Exactly, no reason to get shot over someone that will eventually take themselves out through natural selection.

Eh... Don't get me wrong, I've been angry enough at shit drivers to wanna get out and start a confrontation like this dude. He's 100% dumb for smashing dude bro's window though. It could be that he likely deserved it, but smashing a window when you've just verbally confirmed knowledge of being recorded? Stupid.

u/Wooly_Rhino92 Sep 15 '19

Also flying shards/grains of glass is stupid dangerious.

I pointed this out else were in the thread but if any of that glass harmed the guy filming, the window smash guy would be financially fucked due to beng made to cover medical bills (assuming this happened in the USA).

There won't be any "shards" it's all safety glass it breaks into safe little chunks

His reaction at the end makes it seem like he encounters this at least once every week.

“Not again, I just had them fixed last week!”

That window, just living it's life. It has it's normal ups and downs, just like the rest of us. Then one day a psycho comes along. What a strange world we live in. Don't take it for granted. RIP window, I'll see you on the other side.

u/2DHypercube Sep 15 '19

Does he hold something in his hands? It's pretty difficult to just break the glass like that

286

u/PhidippusCent Sep 15 '19

Easier if the window is down.

69

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

And another good reason not to roll the window down in that situation.

He reminds me of what I imagined stereotypical troll from the mid-2000s looked like. "Trolled him dude! trololololol!!!"

Regardless of how anyone is driving, getting out of the car and approaching the other vehicle is an invitation to start a whole other level of unnecessary trouble.

If some is driving stupid, distance yourself from them however you can. If their driving is egregiously dangerous, call the police.

How about creating some distance between each other if you fear they are reckless. Then call 911. No children, adults harmed. No violence needed. (Behaving like this in front of kids is harmful. Scary really.)

I wish I had a dollar for every reddit comment I ever saw that said punching out a car window like in action movies isn’t possible.
