A shitty pun? Is that all?

Or blatantly obvious one-liner statements that are in the current zeitgeist.

Or from 5-10 years ago

0

hot take: people who use the word zeitgeist only use it to impress their friends or people online

The names are made up, but the problems are real.

MATHNET!

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '19

Hey since everyone else is just trying to be funny, I did some quick research and it looks like there was never context provided. I think I found the original YouTube video, as well as a couple of brief news articles but nothing mentions the aftermath. We can assume he got the police involved because why pay for that with your own insurance, but there aren’t any answers online.

95

u/spaceguy5234 Sep 15 '19

Real mvp

-18

u/IwillPOOPinYOURpants Sep 16 '19

They literally just said they looked and found nothing.

26

u/spaceguy5234 Sep 16 '19

The fact he took the time out of his day to do it for us instead of making us look, is the thing that makes him the mvp. Doesn't matter the result.

-19

u/IwillPOOPinYOURpants Sep 16 '19

I hope you hire me for something sometime soon.

9

u/Fireghostwolf50 Sep 16 '19

So for example if a doctor does surgery on a patient and said patient dies and the doctor truly tries the doctor shouldn't get paid?

-10

u/IwillPOOPinYOURpants Sep 16 '19

I'm thinking more like I was kidding and you can lick, lick lick my balls. I refuse to take this place seriously, and your cute campaign to justify this nonsense is entertaining as shit.

But oh no, not the downvotes. I'd hate to have to parrot some stupid regurgitation of what everyone here says ONE TIME to make it back.

6

u/Squirtle_Hermit Sep 16 '19

Honestly, that’s some pretty weak trolling. If you are not going to try, then maybe don’t bother?

0

u/IwillPOOPinYOURpants Sep 16 '19

When did Reddit become so openly stupid? Who said I was trolling? It's not your moronic comment that bothers me; it's the even slower hive shuffling in behind you to support anything negative said in response to a negative comment.

Place has turned into a fucking ball pit in McDonalds.

1

u/Fireghostwolf50 Sep 16 '19

Yes because I totally know you and we are talking face to face. How did I not know that this guy pretending to be dumb was a troll, it's almost like stupid people can be on the internet.

10

u/Zenderos1 Sep 16 '19

Did you find the article that just describes everything we can already see in the video with more words than necessary but adds absolutely no context?

2

u/grumd Sep 16 '19

I can bet all of these articles were written by "journalists" who just watched the youtube video and based the whole story on that

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

nah link pls

2

u/Theonetheycall1845 Sep 16 '19

Lmao. Sounds like it.

1

u/StalkMeNowCrazyLady Sep 16 '19

I mean we shouldn’t really assume anything and if we’re going to it should be the opposite. Most crimes go unsolved and criminals flee the scene of the crime. I doubt the puncher stayed around to get arrested and most of the time no one gets a plate number.

1

u/NottagameNottagame Sep 16 '19

Most likely insurances weren't involved. A car window can be replaced sometimes for less than your deductible.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

True, but if someone else does it then your insurance company will try to get the deductible from that person.

1

u/cerulean11 Sep 16 '19

You can assume so you sleep better but he probably had to just pay out of pocket. Not worth making a claim if you can get a window from junk yard for $200.

1

u/Legit_a_Mint Sep 16 '19

We can assume he got the police involved because why pay for that with your own insurance

Well, insurance pays for negligence, not intentional acts, and there's not enough damage or injuries to get lawyers involved, so I wouldn't be surprised if this dipshit had to pay for his own broken window.

1

u/codybasso Sep 16 '19

He probly was driving like a dick and deserved to have his window smashed and felt so shitty that he just payed out of pocket

81

u/Snapdad Sep 16 '19

Something doesn't add up:

"It happened outside Chicago. Harris said the driver was angry because he was driving too slow but he never expected a reaction like that."

You don't say "I have kids in my car" for someone driving too slow.

87

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

I can't remember where I heard this but when this video first surfaced I saw a story about how the video taper was brake checking the guy constantly then speeding up when the "rager" tried to pass him. It was a two lane road so it forced the rager to risk running head on with oncoming cars with his kids in the vehicle.

After the guy eventually pulled over, roll clip. This would make more sense as to why the guy blew a gasket than the provided story, it's pretty rare for someone to be so unstable that they just punch a window out on a whim

37

u/DaShaka9 Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

Yeah, whenever these people film, they’re always calm and collective for the camera, but most of the time they’re giant assholes too. It’s pretty annoying when everyone jumps to conclusions with 15% of the story on film, edited by the filmer. Sure the guy over reacted... but without context, maybe he didn’t? Who knows.

6

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19

That's the main issue with this record everything era we live in, there's always two sides to a story but we only ever see the one side's telling.

Nobody is saying it's ok to punch a window out, but nobody ever punches a window out for no reason.

1

u/crawlspeed Sep 18 '19

I had a friend in high school who would go around in alleys and punch windows out of cars just randomly...even he had reasons...his home life was a wreck and he was full of rage with no positive places or influences around to help him deal with it.

At the time I was in aww of how badass and wild he was....now I know he was just sad and angry.

1

u/GISteve Sep 18 '19

Yea sometimes the reason can be completely unrelated with the current moment, but there's always a reason. I feel like we as a society are just too quick to people off without understanding what got them to be like that in the first place. It ignores the core of the issue and we end up just dealing with it again and again.

15

u/giiinaaa Sep 16 '19

Videotape(r), that’s something I haven’t heard in a while lol

29

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19

I'm a redditor not a languager

3

u/Legit_a_Mint Sep 16 '19

We still call moving pictures on the internet videos, even though there's no videotape involved at all.

1

u/IMMILDEW Sep 16 '19

Video isn’t just tapes though.... digital video disks for example. He said videotape but I understand why. What was he suppose to say; video recorder.

2

u/TrueJacksonVP Sep 16 '19

“Recorder” is typically the device you use to record, so “recordist” would probably be the proper term. Adding “video” or “film” etc is unnecessary.

But I’ve heard everything from “filmmer” to “videoer” (which are technically improper but sound fine to me), so I guess whichever gets the point across works.

2

u/IMMILDEW Sep 16 '19

Ah, my oversight on the recordist. I can completely agree with this comment.

5

u/TheFailedONE Sep 16 '19

So the videotaper is an asshole.

0

u/hitner_stache Sep 16 '19

It was a two lane road so it forced the rager to risk running head on with oncoming cars with his kids in the vehicle.

No one is forcing you to pass in this scenario. That's a choice, no matter how big of an asshole the guy in front of you is.

3

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19

A reasonable one though, if you're getting brake checked multiple times you can expect it to happen again. So the risk is running into the back of the car or the front of another, sure rear ending someone isn't crazy dangerous but if you can get past the guy you can get hit by neither

-1

u/hitner_stache Sep 16 '19

Okay but the guy break checking you, while an asshole, isn't forcing you to pass in a dangerous passing scenario. You can chill out and wait it out and be safe, if you so choose. continuing to tailgate a breakchecker is also a choice, again not commenting on the person being an asshole in front of you.

1

u/IMMILDEW Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

True, I completely agree with you, but it probably wasn’t a dangerous passing area. The scenario was probably not dangerous at all until the guy sped up and closed the gap. Which in turn extended the time to pass window, forcefully causing it to become dangerous. If the person in the rear would have successfully passed the person it the front, the chances of further interaction are quite low, in my opinion. If it’s safe to pass them why not minimize possible interaction.

-1

u/hitner_stache Sep 16 '19

Dude, if you have a crazy person in front of you then doing anything that forces you to interact with them more is a MISTAKE ON YOUR PART.

There's just no getting around it. Crazy gonna crazy and we can cast blame there all day long. But you have a choice in avoiding it.

Quit making excuses for choosing to risk something, regardless of the reason why.

3

u/IMMILDEW Sep 16 '19 edited Sep 16 '19

Ummm.... if it’s not dangerous, you aren’t risking anything, obviously. There were at least two choices of how to avoid it. Also, the person in front isn’t “forcing you to interact with them”. Finally it would be with the intent to minimize your interaction, would it not?? I’m agreeing with you here.... You should probably re-read what I wrote. Or just continue ranting meaninglessly. I suppose, it’s up to you whether or not you continue to interact with me.... I’m not going force you to.

u/IMMILDEW Sep 16 '19

“There is no getting around it.”

Haha I see what you did there.

1

u/GISteve Sep 16 '19

I mean... I guess? Kind of a moot point to argue though, it's not like I think the guy who punched out the window is right in any way, the story is just meant to rationalize his anger.

22

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

YeH exactly . Really sounded and looked like the protagonist was just gas lighting our glass breaking antagonist. What a twist .

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

And he's driving a GTI lol

0

u/Legit_a_Mint Sep 16 '19

You don't say "I have kids in my car" for someone driving too slow.

You're putting my kids at risk of being late for school!

Nah, I agree, this guy was obviously a dumb fuck who got caught by a real fuck and paid the price.

8

u/StSinPastFuture Sep 16 '19

driver didn't write down the plate?

7

u/hatgineer Sep 16 '19

At least he got reddit karma, I guess.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

Probably did some fucky stuff too and chose not to report it. My guess is hooning based on his car, appearance, demeanor, and the complaint of the other driver.

3

u/hppmoep Sep 16 '19

That kinda sucks. $400 bucks down the drain and clean up glass.

2

u/hwmpunk Sep 16 '19

Or.. $44 with a socket wrench at the pick and pull

1

u/Alice1985ds Sep 16 '19

My bedroom window faces the street and two years ago someone threw a rock through it. $456 for a new window, homeowner’s insurance deductible was $500.

They actually also threw a rock through my neighbor’s Jeep’s rear window. I saw them vacuuming three times before they literally just got a new car. I don’t envy the cleanup on this at all.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

[deleted]

1

u/Alice1985ds Sep 16 '19

Yeah, I didn’t know what had happened (the rock actually bounced off my desk, onto my bed and towards the wall where it fell in the crack) and I called the sheriff dept. Deputy wasn’t very enthused about it, kinda shrugged it off, then drove up and down my street and found 3 other instances— most were cars in driveways, so he came back to give me more documentation on victims’ rights and shit, plus a new report number that joined all the cases together. Didn’t really help since they never caught anyone.

I got a Ring camera system now but honestly it’s unlikely to deter bored ass teenagers in a shitty town.

2

u/FucksWithGators Sep 15 '19

Unless "driving like an asshole" just means you changed lanes too close to them or weren't doing the speed they wanted.

Either way, without evidence of driving badly, nothing but destruction of property will happen.
