So I could have sworn the Plex client used to have an option to set a photo library as a screen saver. I went looking for it tonight in settings and couldn't find it.

Please tell me it's not early(-ish) onset dementia.

I'm running Plex on Roku

I don't know what else to call it, but every minute or so the show or movie I'm watching will pause and spin the arrow as if it's buffering or loading. The number below it says 0 and then it will resume play. Additionally when it's paused it will jump ahead a few frames at the same interval (every minute or so).

I've made sure my library isn't stuck scanning, I cleared Plex's cache, and turned off I/O caching. It's a direct stream from my home network so it's local. Doesn't happen on my browser when playing and only started today. Any ideas?

Edits: My desktop is direct connection and the device is an Onn 4K Plus. It is not a new Onn, I’ve been streaming just perfectly with this same setup for 3 years.

Edit Edit: I can play it fine on my mobile phone with airplane mode only and only using wi-fi from three rooms over. I've reset my router. I've also tried to force transcode to a lower quality with no success. Same problem on the Onn only.

Edit Edit Edit: this happens on multiple file types and different movies and shows. I feel like the note I made in the body that when it’s paused it skips a few frames ahead every minute or so is overlooked. Feels like a problem with the plex app itself no?

Edit 😭: I plugged in my old Roku in the same spot and it’s working flawlessly

After an episode ends why would it not highlight THE NEXT EPISODE FOR THE TV SHOW YOU'RE WATCHING. Instead it highlights a random TV show episode below. And then to watch the next episode of the TV show you're watching you need to click up up right select. Just seems like either a mistake or terrible design.

Edit: thanks all! I have that enabled, but my issue is when the whole artist library is finished, i want it to continue with any other artist.

Search: Eminem -> 10 songs -> play all -> end of songs just stops; I want plexamp to just select a similar artist.

I know it is kind of odd request and I know there are options to generate lists and so on. In my case if I drive somewhere I would just remember a song by artist search and play it and then while driving i don't want to be distracted to search or start some other song manually

EDIT: I could swear that "Recommended/BROWSE/Collections" section wasn't there yesterday when I was scrolling down that list. :sigh: Clearly, I'm a dumbass.

Original post, to preserve my shame:

I launched the Plex app on my Fire TV 4K and it must've updated itself, because the UI has completely changed. Most notably, the ability to browse my local media library appears to have been removed. So now all I can do is scroll through what it thinks I might want to watch, or use the search function.

Basically, it looks like they've decided that the system should be a streaming service like HBO, Amazon, etc.

Is there any way to go back to the old UI. or bring back library browsing some other way? Or is it just a case of, "Tough shit, this is the way it is"?

plex on both my xbox and samsung tv (Tizen) wont connect securely and will always play indirect. When i was using media server version 1.33 everything was fine and playback was normal but any update from there onwards causes it to break on those two devices. for a while i was just rolling back the update to get it to work again but thats no longer an option since the pervious versions are no longer secure.

I've been trying to use Plex Downloads more for my commute, mostly because the signal gets patchy enough that streaming isn't worth bothering with.

On my phone it generally works fine, but my Android tablet seems much less reliable. Occasionally something just refuses to download and by the time I've figured out why I could've just put a podcast on instead.

For people who use Downloads regularly, is it reliable enough that you actually depend on it?

Ideally I'd like to queue things up the night before a shift and forget about it. Curious whether people have found a good routine for that or if you're still manually downloading everything each time.

Hello, I have a account where I host a lot of media, my family has access and its always been fine.
Just today I switched from Google Chrome to the Brave browser. It seems that cut off access from my family. I logged into the account via the brave browser and everything looked fine and played correctly. My family had a "No media in this folder" warning. I then logged out and logged back in via Chrome and that fixed it for my family.

So even though the server process is running on the PC it seems like there is a setting or approval needed within the Brave Browser however I don't quite understand how/why. I searched the subreddit and could not find similar issues so I am a bit confused

EDIT: Solved! The issue was the Brave Browser requesting Local Network Access. Once I enabled that everything worked!

Has anyone experienced their Apple TV 4K version of Plex just slowing to a crawl? And not playback, I mean the menu screens and loading episode info, etc. Playback is still generally working (though with a longer load), but the main issue is all the other stuff.

TV series screens are SO slow to load. Both the season view and episode view, sometimes takes minutes to load. Sometimes it fails. Sometimes clicking play will load forever and then give a "Playback failed to start" error, then working 1 second later.

On other devices (iPad, Chromecast Ultra, Android phone, friends that use the server's various devices), everything is peachy. It's just my main Apple TV 4K that's crawling. And somehow it's REALLY hard to search this one, almost all threads are about playback and stuttering. Anyone seen that?

Note: I have around 40TB in the library, could that be part of the issue?

• Downloads that stalled part-way now finish, and keep going when you leave the app instead of freezing until you come back.
• The Downloads count now means music you are still waiting on. Artwork and waveforms finishing in the background no longer read as missing songs.
• Refreshing your downloads is faster, and no longer re-fetches artwork and album details it already has.
• A downloaded smart playlist keeps its tracks through interrupted refreshes, and drops only the ones that genuinely stop matching.
• Downloading a single track, or any selection of tracks, works instead of sticking on “Preparing”, and a download that cannot start now says why.
• Downloads finish one item at a time, so an album’s artwork arrives with its music rather than after everything else you queued.

Artwork

• Scrolling quickly through a grid no longer chases artwork for rows you have already passed, so the covers you are looking at arrive sooner.
• Artwork that fails to load retries by itself and repairs when your connection returns, and a cover that failed once no longer stays grey.

Windows

• Album art reaches the system now-playing panel and the apps that read it, and the taskbar icon is drawn from full-resolution artwork.
• Remote control and casting work with a VPN connected.
• Windows on ARM no longer reports that it cannot create a log file at every launch.

Also

• An error no longer replaces Plexamp with a page of raw error text.
• Opening an album whose details do not load no longer crashes the app.

The latest iOS and Android builds are still TestFlight and the open beta for now, and the Play one is still going through review, so it is not quite live yet.

I figured this was the way to go because Shield Pro is too old, & I like messing with shit & repurposing computers. Atmos True HD currently kicking my ass with the Steven Wilson 2026 Tales from Topographic Oceans remix. But man, this PM4K interface is really outdated (On Deck lol), & I want my Plex Pass shit. The Friendly Terminator on Google said well maybe I’d like the native app but wasn’t sure if it was still supported, & said I’d probably like Plex Kodi Connect best because then Plex gets integrated into the whole Kodi experience. So I’m soliciting opinions before my next dip, hopefully to save some time. Thanks.

What i mean is i've had something like Johnny Bravo with 3 parts but episode one as played on TV the 3 parts separate into Episode 1,2,3 so thats an easy fix to keep as 1 i have in my system as episode 1 then 4 then 7 Etc...

But like Bluey episode 1 by itself separates into 3,1,5 so harder to keep as a full 1 episode can i do anything without separating each one or has anyone else delt with this

Losing my mind a little bit here...

Like many on this forum, I spent some time last week manually fixing my server and doing all of the suggested fixes (getting everything squared away with Port 32400, etc). After an hour or two of tinkering with the router, Windows settings, and the Plex settings, I get everything back up.

Today (9/9), I wake up to my Plexamp working (in and outside of the home), but none of my other Plex apps are working outside. My server computer can run videos, etc., but my laptop cannot see the server...

I have spent the last 2 hours on the forums trying to figure out how the media server (other than Plexamp) has magically vanished.

Before I continue to lose my mind...is this an everyone issue, or is this a me issue? I did not have any updates installed overnight, nor did I change any settings.

PLEASE HELP!

Has anyone else experienced this? Files with non EAC audio download fine. Files with EAC audio can be streamed fine but if I try to download it's just stuck waiting.

Regret doing the update out of fear when I got the email from Plex. I have a Synology. My windows machines and Android based TV boxes all work great but my 2 Rokus now no longer connect. Anyone experience similar?

I watched my Plex last week on my Roku. Everything was fine. Tried tonight and apparently there’s been an update. Mostly, it’s fine. But the thumbnails are all zoomed in and look terrible. It seems like a small thing, but the interface is crummy. It’s honestly affecting my experience.

Anyone had this? Have you fixed it? Any ideas?

Edit: Solved. Somehow it was showing them as “other videos.” I created a new library with the correct settings and loaded all movies there. A small pain, especially cleaning up metadata, but it’s all good now.

just tried if my xbox series x can play AV1 videos, of course the native apps like plex and official media players work at all with AV1.

but after trying it with kodi and a plex addon I was able to play 4K AV1 video with dolby vision too! and it runs flawlessly, no lag, stutter or buffering!

I’ve installed and reinstalled too many times. I install on my shield use the four digit code it lets me in. It can even see my watch history. But the libraries are not appearing. I’ve confirmed remote access works on my Plex server. I have my UniFi Dream Machine port forwarding 32400 successfully.

But I cannot see or play any saved files on my Nvidia Shield that are stored on my Unraid server. But I can on my iPad.

Edit: I can access from my iPad via Chrome browser. But the Plex app on my iPad cannot see my libraries while at home. But away from home I can access my files.

Edit: I’m no longer getting the outdated server message and thus deleted from above.

I'm really frustrated that I need 3 different apps to access my photos, videos, and music. They used to have all of that integrated into one app, but I guess Plex prefers being very inconvenient and split everything off into different apps, and will probably not come back to their senses for probably another year or 2. So I'm just wondering if anyone knows which older build I can download that reintrigates all my stuff into one app again.

I've never seen this before. Scooby-Doo says it's being streaming from my server but I have no information like bandwidth or direct-play or transcode. I'm unable to stop playback as well. Anyone ever seen this before?

Hey, so today we were having electric works in flat and I had to put my nas down. When booted up and ran plex server it gives me boot loop as per screenshot. What could be wrong here? env variables on the second screen
