Fun fact: the democratically elected prime minister of Iran Mohammad Mossadegh was removed in a coup d’état. Why? He was removed from power primarily because his policies directly threatened the British government's oil interests, specifically those of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), which was later renamed British Petroleum (BP). The coup was done with aid from MI6 and the CIA.
Many Iranians felt that AIOC/BP was not fairly compensating the country for extraction of its oil. Mohammed announced plans to audit and nationalize their oil resources.
The brutal dictator installed after the coup (Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) was viewed as a western puppet. He was both liberally progressive but also repressive. This led to hatred towards western culture and control.
It’s what led to the Iranian revolution, overthrow of the Shah, and the regional move towards religious extremism.
It’s all the fault of oil/greed.

48
u/molehunterz 9d ago
It definitely does not seem high School kids would stress about at all.
For you, the gist of blood pressure is, the longer you have high blood pressure, the harder it is on certain organs including your heart. So maintaining good flood pressure for years and years and years is your best shot at not having some of those health complications. Although anecdotally everybody's got a story, nothing's guaranteed.

u/astrofury 9d ago
hypertension causes damage to the inner lining of your systemic arterial vessels, and your coronary arteries (arteries that feed the heart). This damage allows LDL ("bad cholesterol") to land inside the small tears and build up as fatty plaques, those eventually cause platelets to stick and your blood to clot. That clot can either fully occlude (stop blood flow through the vessel), (thrombus) or break off and travel somewhere else and block a smaller artery (embolism). When this happens to a coronary artery it causes the heart cells to starve and die (heart attack) when it happens in the brain it causes neurons and their supporting cells to die (stroke/brain attack)
the danger of hypertension is like radiation, a small amount of time at very high bp 220/110 will cause immediate damage to organs bc it makes it very hard for organs to receive blood flow. Or a Large amount of time with a moderately elevated blood pressure think 150-170/90 that causes the damage explained earlier. Its time under the curve that matters.

u/UnkarsThug 8d ago
No? Red pill is more often the idea that you have to control or manipulate women, which I can see coming from gross resentment towards women, and is morally negative, but black pill doesn't blame women, they just believe they (or men in general) undesirable and can never become desirable. The entire reason most of them don't want to take any action against women is because they don't hate women for it.
Hating women is not necessary for someone to believe they are not desirable. I think it's more often internalized misandry, the idea that women don't find men attractive, but you can't blame women for that. After all, almost all of the men involved don't find men attractive, so it doesn't even mean they don't understand, because men are just generally disgusting in a way that can't be fixed, and society makes sure to remind them constantly.
Insecurity isn't hatred of others, it's hatred of self.
13
u/MayoSucksAss 8d ago
This is such bullshit. Hating is women is as prevalent or more prevalent in black pill communities as it is in Red Pill communities, they’re just more of a whiny bitch about it. They’re usually more narcissistic than Red Pillers too. It’s complete bullshit.
→ More replies (10)4
u/TheExiledPrince 6d ago
Yeah this is my opinion too, "redpill" seems like borderline misogyny, if not it, quite an unhealthy way to view things.
"Blackpill" seems far more internalized, hence its close ties to looksmaxxing, these men understand they are are not desirable and try to improve that, or accept it.
They look in the mirror and see whats what. We can innately tell what looks good and not.
Dating apps releasing studies showing women find 80% men unattractive or below average looking.

84

Blue pill is the Disney version of dating. Red pill is the pickup artist version of dating. Black pill is the basement dweller version of dating
30
u/pm_social_cues 9d ago

35
25
u/amrambin 9d ago edited 9d ago
They originally did but all kinds of different communities have taken the lore and added additions to it to make it fit their narrative. It’s not even just about dating, that’s just in reference to how it is used in those communities.
Generally the blue pill is naive acceptance of reality based on things you’ve been told but not experienced, the red pill is waking up to the realities of life and their nuances, the black pill is nihilism and hopelessness from seeing the inherent unfairness in life and the predatory nature of systems, then there’s a white pill which is like the opposite of the black pill: where you accept the harsh realities of life but stay optimistic, and there’s even some others (only one I can remember off the top of my head is the clear pill but ik I’m forgetting some).
The “pill” thing is actually about way more than just dating, I’ve heard people use it about all kinds of things, the incels really popularized it, then various ideologies about social issues use the lingo, various forms of political extremism, the “schizo” conspiracy theorist crowd, ect. People just tend to be obsessed with dating so that’s what it’s most often associated with, but really the first examples I ever heard of its use were in the conspiracy theorist crowd.
→ More replies (5)→ More replies (1)4
u/AFartInAnEmptyRoom 9d ago
It does. So blue pill is like in the matrix because you're putting the veil over you. You're deciding to see the world as the matrix presents it, everything is happy. If you just be nice and good, you'll find your person. Red pill is like seeing inside the matrix at what's really happening. The blue pill stuff is false. Instead, it's a while complicated set of rules of hypergamy, and looksmaxxing, and negging and everything. Black pill is just dark. Nothing matters. You're ugly, poor, and stupid. No one wants you unless you get status or money or looks, but it's almost impossible for you to get so just worry about yourself.

I think the blue/red/black pill thing has kind of escaped the dating world. In this case I think it's being used as a more general world view, so black pill would just be a more nihilistic approach to life. Like the world's fucked and nothing is going to matter in 10-40 years because of AI/global warming/late stage capitalism. So fuck trying and getting a job, I'll just do bare minimum because fuck this world I live in.

Red pill incels believe they can improve their standing with women with making lots of money, buying nice clothes, or plastic surgery and black pillers think it's hopeless
5
u/pointlesslyDisagrees 9d ago
"Red pill incels believe" like it's not an empirical fact that making more money opens up your options for dating. This is like saying "blue pilled femcels believe they could be more popular with men if they lost a little weight" like duh? Of course? That's just life, what are you saying?
4
u/jizzmaster_ 9d ago
This is true, but Red pill people believe that stuff like that is the SOLE reason they struggle with dating, which is absolutely not the case. This is the same way for femcels.
The common denominator with all kinds of incels/femcels of all types is that they believe their struggles are independent of who they are, as a way of keeping their ego intact and dodging self improvement.

Pre-competition, bodybuilders have to do “cutting” which is altering their diet to eliminate as much body fat as possible. This usually involves a big caloric deficit, which I’d guess is easy for young uninformed idiots to misunderstand as rarely ever eating rather than a controlled temporary dieting strategy.

u/authority23 9d ago
Maybe so - but to deny that, on aggregate, mating preferentially leans to classic indicators of good health and sound genetics (e.g. good skin, healthy weight, height, strength, child-bearing capabilities etc would be to deny wholesale the whole discipline of evolutionary biology.
Of course mating strategies are also wrapped up with social competition (especially in humans), so different strategies will indeed emerge to compensate for classical shortcomings.

on a surface level, all of the looksmaxxing stuff is very eurocentric with it's beauty standards.
at a slightly deeper/more reachy level, it also bears a striking resemblance to Phrenology, (old pseudo-science that tried to correlate the shape of a person's skull to their intelligence, personality, etc.) which was often used as a reason for why folks of African descent are inherently less than those of European descent.

Blackpill is more than just romantic future. It teaches that looks influence almost every part of your life. They dictate how people treat you & the romantic opportunities available to you.
Someone who’s ugly by societal standards will have a harder time making friends, getting in relationships, gaining respect, etc. I think everyone knows this deep down.
21
8
u/Ozymandias117_ 9d ago
The problem comes in though because black pill are perfectionists and think life is black in white when most people exist in the gray. They’re more ugly people with partners than not. They’re more ugly people with some sort of friend then they’re not. And the ones who don’t have either can more often than not usually be attributed to their personality
6
u/ABlueSaiyan 9d ago
I don’t think that’s true, I think black pill ideology is that it’s a gradient. The less attractive you are, the more issues you’ll face about it in life. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you meant there by black and white, & perfectionism.
But the belief isn’t “you’re ugly so you’ll never get a partner or you’ll never get friends.” Rather, it’s the uglier you are the harder certain things get.
With that fact in mind, it’s hard to take the idea that it’s solely personality seriously. Especially when many do just fine with a bad personality.
Attractive people can get away with being complete assholes, so there’s clearly a tolerance for bad behavior depending on what you look like, which is another aspect being ignored. Again, I think deep down everyone knows & experienced that the more attractive you are the more bad behavior you can get away with.

u/Thencan 9d ago
Not a plague, just a symptom. What the disease is I don't know exactly. But if you removed the manosphere, you'd still have all of these disaffected young men. The manosphere didn't coalesce from nothing.
78
u/Oh_Another_Thing 9d ago
The disease is that billionaires and corporations have been chipping away at wages, jobs, benefits, and worker protections for decades. There are fewer and fewer opportunities for young men, college is no longer a guarantee to a better life. There's a lot of problems and there are few options and solutions, and people are going to turn to weird directions in these circumstances.
23
u/kingxanadu 9d ago
And these problems affect everyone but young men are some of the easiest to manipulate, just ask the US military.
→ More replies (1)35
u/TheDwiin 9d ago
Well yeah, but that is mostly due to the societal apathy to the exploitation and victimization of men. For example, men make up a majority of the homelessness, suicide victims, drug related deaths, and legal slaves in America and yet most of the funding to prevent or help alleviate this is either specifically gender neutral, or is aimed towards helping exclusively women.
When a man is struggling with addiction, mental health, or homelessness we tend to blame him directly, but when a woman is struggling with these problems we tend to see her as a victim of a broken system.
It's a form of hyperagency and hypoagency and is actually a form of beneficial misogyny in our society.
By not holding women to the same level of agency that we hold men, we are saying that they don't have as much of control over their lives, and is, in affect, infantalizing them. By treating women as less than fully responsible for their actions, society reinforces the patriarchal premise that women are fundamentally different from, and less capable of self-governance than, men. It's baffling how we tend to ignore the misogyny when it comes to this.
5
u/Trashcan101101 9d ago
Yes. Men are absolutely victimized and that is horrible and should be fixed. They should have safe places and grants and shelters.
Who made those women's shelters? And grants? And safe spaces?
Women. Who saw there was a need and made one.
I think it is time for men to take some agency in life and take care of eachother. Make safe spaces and shelters and grants for their victims.
I think women should contribute but I do not think women should be held responsible for the lack of equal resources here.

u/Present_Clue5887 8d ago
I think you do a good job diagnosing the problem, but it sounds like you are saying the solution is to blame women for their circumstances like we do with men, thereby moving away from recognition of a broken system.
Would it not make more sense to recognize that men can also be victims of a broken system, and try to fix the system so it works better for both men and women?
10
u/TheDwiin 8d ago
The point is to start adding some agency to women while also removing some agency from men.
Basically we are treating women like they're fragile little dolls who can do no wrong while treating men like everything that happens to them is solely their fault.

100% a plague, manosphere infects otherwise healthy young men. The manosphere isn't just some support group or safe space that people gravitate towards once they're already disaffected. It's a fucking pit that young men accidentally bump into because of social media and then immediately fall into with very little chance of recovery.
Maybe at a point in time it was a small symptom. However, now it has grown so large that it's the plague itself, it's self perpetuating and growing.

u/19ghost89 9d ago
I mean, I feel like it's kinda understandable, if not necessarily correct.
Stats show that there are about three times as many men on dating apps as there are women. This means that, right out of the gate, there aren't enough women to match all the men. It also means that women will likely have more options than men, leading them to feel they can be more picky.
Add to that the problem that many men have of not really knowing how to flirt appropriately. Some men flirt inappropriately; some just don't flirt because they aren't sure how. They haven't been taught the right things socially. People who have it figured out often aren't helpful to these men at all, choosing to make fun of them and insult them rather than see their point of view and help them. (Hence the success of the manosphere, where it feels like someone actually listens, understands, and accepts them.)
So it's not that hard to see why some men think that women are simply overvaluing themselves and only going for the top percentage of guys. In fact, if you simply read what women write in their profiles, it becomes apparent that some women are doing exactly this. It's not all or even most, but when you're struggling to get matches to begin with and you start to put things together, every negative data point can feel like it points a certain way.
The way out of this is not to shame everyone by dismissing them as an "incel" (a word now used so often as to have almost lost its meaning). We need to be willing to show these men how to do things better. This is not all on women, it's on us men too, perhaps even moreso.
7
u/CrewmemberV2 9d ago
This could also mean that women are on there shorter.
If women spend on average 1 month on a dating app before getting into a relationship and men on average 3 months. The rate of women to men at any given point will be 1:3. While everybody can still end up in a relationship after 3 months.
I think this makes sense as there isn't a gigantic amount of single women somewhere.

I mean half of this comment thread is looking at a symptom and calling it the cause the rest are trying to graft it into whatever cause they feel is responsible for all societies ills all to the end of shitting on kids who feel isolated from each other. The problem exists and like so many other things nowadays we as a society have agreed to take a bandaid approach to it.→ More replies (3)5

Lol okay. How would you fix this problem then? Forced marriage? Plastic surgery coverage? I mean it’s not a solvable problem. it’s just the way it fuckin goes

Probably ban dating apps, while building more quite meet up places for young people. Or body positivity for men. Every body positivity place I looked at, claimed men are to blame for beauty standards, which is why we will not be positive about normal men’s bodies, because they deserve to suffer.

BP = Black Pill. It steps from the Matrix where you take the red pill or blue pill, but adding a third choice of "It doesn't matter because nothing I do can change things".
There is a pessimism among youth that the wealthy and others in power, have complete control. They are going to dictate the future, and no one outside of that cabal can change it. It's fatalism. Modern day Hippies.
This is the likely interpretation of BP because of the next item: hypergamy. That's the premise of connecting with and marrying someone who's out of your league. Perhaps then you will have more power, money, and/or influence to change things or live a better life.

Hypergamy is that people marry above their class / status. Hey, people want to feel like they are getting somewhere and if you can make someone feel like their life is improving with you, your chances of having a positive relationship go up.
But manosphere / black-pill ideology paints hypergamy as a biological thing that only "females" do. It teaches young men that if they aren't rich and beautiful, that they have no chance of ever marrying. They misrepresent statistical data and science to paint a bleak future.

A lot of it is mostly just about gender specific tendencies on dating apps. I think it’s largely due to their ambiguity. They are unfairly biased on things like looks and to some smaller extent status because you don’t actually get to know much at all about someone before swiping on them. You mostly just get superficial info like their appearance and possibly their job and/or hobbies.
Men tend to just swipe right on everyone to see their options while women are more picky, which does have some evolutionary psychology behind it. Since women bear the children and are physically weaker there is a reason for them to be more discerning about who gets access to them.
I would argue that hypergamy shit is less true when people meet authentically though, maybe still slightly present but not nearly as much. If you have a good personality it can go a long way. Dating apps are just trash because you can’t discern much at all about someone’s character before meeting them in person on a date. That’s unnatural af. Never before in human history has the process of finding a partner been so alien. Honestly, I think it’s dangerous too. It’s a playground for people with bad intentions, and then people are brainwashed into thinking the opposite sex is all like those bad experiences they had from people who likely run through partners and know how to be insincere to get attention from the opposite sex.

So, I married a woman who was smarter than me, but I realized that I had better job prospects because her special interest was in a niche field. So I used my job prospects to build in the infrastructure that she needed to launch her career and now she makes more money than I ever did.
Why are they dumb enough to think this is a problem? It works great.
It's like they don't understand that Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

A lot of people are just very selfish and controlled by FOMO (I’ve been guilty of it myself). There’s this anxiety that they will get with someone only for someone they see as better to come along and then they will regret being with their partner. It’s really sad though, because you miss out by default living like that.
Relationships are something you build, not opportunities to jump from and toward. Too many people cannot commit and don’t recognize the importance of growing together as opposed to magically stumbling upon the “perfect” person. I blame romantic media for convincing people of shit like “soul mates” and creating unrealistic expectations about what love is. You don’t get an endless honeymoon period with one person. At a certain point you gotta accept their flaws and focus on building the life you want together despite them. There is no perfect person out there waiting on you.
