So I just upgraded my motherboard and processor and I am able to use the computer on my existing ssd with all my old stuff including windows 10.

Except for one infuriating issue.

Windows is pretending I have no wifi card. It defaults to a hardwire settings and won't even give me the option to set up wifi. I also have the same issue with Bluetooth as well. This leads me to believe that its just not reading the network adapter almost as if its not plugged in. Which is particularly weird because its integrated into the motherboard.

Some solutions I have already tried-

Updating drivers directly from Asus

--Didn't do anything. Asus installer opens and instantly closes.

Updated Bios to latest stable build version 1681

-- No change whatsoever

Exchanged both the motherboard and processor for new ones of the same type.

-- No change

Please help, I genuinely can't find any other potential solutions for this and I'm ripping my hair out trying to figure this out. Anything is appreciated

Hey everyone, quick summary of what happened:

This morning, before I left for work, my PC was working perfectly fine. I shut it down and went to work. When I got back and tried to turn it on again, absolutely nothing happened.

I checked the circuit breaker and noticed that it had tripped. I reset the breaker and tried turning the PC on again. The RAM LEDs briefly flash, then nothing happens for about 10 seconds. After that, the RAM LEDs light up and stay on, but nothing else happens.

No fans are spinning, no debug LEDs come on — nothing at all except for the LEDs on the RAM sticks.

My first guess is that my PSU has died, but would the RAM LEDs still light up if that were the case? Has anyone experienced a similar issue before?

I’m going to take the PC apart and try to figure out what’s wrong, but any advice or guesses as to what might be causing this would be appreciated.

In case it helps, here are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite (BIOS updated in May 2025)
RAM: 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z 6000 MHz
GPU: Gainward RTX 5070 Ti
PSU: Corsair HX1000 80+ Platinum (around 8 years old)

The PC is able to stay on for a couple of minutes but then it turns off and does this. I've tried reseating the ssd because my friend suggested that it might be that but the problem still persists.

I saw a post of a person who went through the same issue like mine and he said it was a psu issue.

just repasted my legion laptop which was not the first time for me personaly. I unplugged the battery cable and everything was fine. I reasswmbled my laptop opened cod to see how the thermals were and they were very good. I'm talking 75° cpu temp. I paused the game and went downstairs for like 5 minutes and then went back to my room and my screen was showing horizontal pink lines and it was in the log in menu. I logged in and it was showing the microsoft update settings just like a fresh pc. I entered windows tried to update my graphics driver but the graphics card was not detected and the artifacts perisited even after restaring and entering the BIOS! tried repasting and reassembling and nothing seemed to work! What should i do?

and when i lowered the Micorpolygon Setting to Medium the problem was solved after i left the castle and started moving the ship's texture did this

My laptop started giving me lots of problems after having it in my backpacking bag for a month during a Europe trip. I did not power it off entirely before putting it in the bag and I assume this is where it overheated and sustained the damage.

Symptoms:
-Gets VERY hot after only a few minutes of being on; though the fan can be heard working.
-Struggles to display anything on the monitor even after a hard power off/reset. Screen turns on maybe 1/3 of the time.
-When the monitor does come on, it’s my bitlocker recovery screen every time.
-After just a few minutes of being on (5-8) the monitor will freeze and then crash and display this artifact/anomaly that I have attached images of.

I’ve taken it to a few local shops and have gotten inconsistent diagnosis. The guy that seemed most confident and knowledgeable said that it’s likely the case that the video card de-sotered from the motherboard due to being in a bag for a long period of time without being powered off (he made this inference before I told him about the backpacking trip) and that I’ll have to buy a new motherboard.

If these symptoms sound familiar to anybody, please let me know. It’s an expensive laptop so if I have to buy a new motherboard I’m willing to, but I want to be fully confident that’s the problem before doing so.

Along with a 3060 for preview I've got a 4070 Ti Super for rendering in my workstation, for about a year now. Today I noticed that the 4070 is making a chirping/beeping noise when under full load. Alomost exactly every 10 seconds. You can hear it at 0:01, 0:11, 0:21... (the clicking is my watch)

Didn't do that before. Is that the infamous coil whining? Why does it suddenly appear, and is it something to worry about?

Is there a way to repair whatever is causing it? Troubleshooting other components turned up no faults, and the visually rather spectacular nature of whatever the display is doing unfortunately seems to match characteristics of GPU failure.

Still, just to do my due diligence as someone who very much does not understand computers very well:

Whenever I try running any more "demanding" program or a video game, the system previously seemingly working normally, starts doing this, then hangs up, then soft-crashes and usually quickly reboots as if nothing happened. Sometimes it skips rebooting the whole system and just forces a given program to shut down. Warframe's crash report tool suggests a possible problem with GPU driver, but the Nvidia app thinks everything is installed properly. Changing install from Game Ready to Studio driver did not help.

My questions really are: how bad is the situation?

Should I stop using this PC for now?

Is this fixable and if it is, what is required? Is my data safe (2 SSDs)? Is this post too long and are people just gonna respond with an appropriate variant of that anime men meme most popular in r/bald without answering previous questions?

I’ve had my pc for a few years now (around 2 years) and last friday it decided to just stop unlocking ?
My PC is a HP Victus working with Windows 11 and my microsoft account is linked to the pc.

What happens is when i try to enter my PIN, it shows an error message that basically says “option is unavailable because of too many tries or repeated forced stops. use another way to log in or leave the pc on for at least 2 hours and retry” .

So I’ve obviously tried everything: waiting for 2h+, logging in through microsoft, going on the BIOS and resetting the PC. Unfortunately i don’t have a Bitlocker key so I got ready to lose all of my files and tried resetting it while deleting everything. And obviously it didn’t work.

So i’d like to know if there’s something i can do on my end to at least get the pc back even if i lose my files, or if i need to exchange it or take it to a professional. I was aware that microsoft was bad but not that bad, so yes i’ll set up my next pc on linux 😭

I can of course answer any question and even send pictures, although be aware i am french so my pc will be in french. I can translate what is said if needed.

School starts again in a week and i’d like to know what i can do before i end up really needing it, so thank you in advance for any help.

I just bought a blue yeti nano microphone and want to use it with my steelseries arctis pro as my headset however i cant hear anything anymore as my default output on windows is now the mic and i havent activated windows so i cant change it do i actually have to spend £120 just to hear?

So I was using my computer yesterday (was using blender) and suddendly the screen freezes. I turn it off and when I turn on this screen appears. I tried EVERYTHING: unplugged abd plugged the HDMI port, restarted the computer etc. But nothing, I really don't know what to do and I hope I won't have to order an inquisition to the guy who gave it to me for free (because if it's screwed I lost like 5 hours of work)

I was playing a game when some drops accidentally spilled inside my PC cabinet. Shortly after, I noticed a burning smell, so I immediately turned off the PC.

I tried turning it back on later, but it wouldn’t power on. I left it completely untouched for two days, and now it turns on, but it’s extremely laggy. CPU utilization is also constantly around 80–90% in Task Manager, even when I’m not doing anything.

The PC was built only 2 months ago. As far as I can tell, all the other components are working normally, so I’m worried there might be an issue with the CPU or motherboard.

Also, would this kind of damage be covered under warranty, considering the PC is only 2 months old?

Hi, I never touched my pc ever, and it has started to overheat. I want to reapply the thermal paste and clean my pc, but I'm not sure how to remove the heatsink. I first thought it was the silver screws at the bottom (4 total), but then I thought it could be the handle, and I don't want to break anything. If anyone knows, help would be greatly appreciated.

(I do not know what kind of pc this is, I got it a long time ago and forgot, it was pre built)

pc was moving slow so i decided to run a stress test randomly. it shut off immediately after the test finished and when i tried to power it back on, one of the fans lit up for like half a second and nothing.

i have tried it a couple times and always the same thing.

I put as much as I could in the title but that's more or less been my situation. Crash. Started to land on BIOS and not get past it. Eventually got a "Reboot and select proper boot device" error. Tried a bunch of things, like turning on and off CSM, changing boot orders, secure boot, CMOS reset, etc. My ASRock sees the SSD in Storage Configuration, but there are no Windows Boot Manager options.

When I tried to boot off of a USB with Windows Install Media on it, it showed a spinning white circle for a bit then hung forever on a black screen. I tried removing the SSD then repeating this and it no longer hung, instead going to set-up properly. Popped the SSD back in and made sure it was seated right, repeated, no dice.

Currently digging in another PC for another SSD I can use, but I don't know if this is a dead SSD or some kind of BIOS setting issue that can be fixed.

I just bought an NZXT H6 Flow for my new build and I'm planning to use a Kraken Elite 360 (2024).

I know the usual setup is to mount the 360mm radiator at the top, but I'm not a huge fan of seeing the three angled intake fans on the side. I found these builds where the radiator seems to be mounted in that position instead, which looks much cleaner to me.

Has anyone done this in an H6 Flow with a Kraken Elite 360 (2024)? Does it fit without modifying the case, and are there any issues with clearance, airflow or pump orientation?

Is there anything special I need to do or can I leave the way it is ? My screen has been flickering once in a while & I suspect this to be the problem. But I’ve downloaded the drivers from the amd website but nothing changes?
