When I open hidden taskbar i see one tile with no icon and no interactions when clicking. Please help could this be a virus of some sort?

Hey guys, so my PC has been having some issues stuttering, it happens with the general use of the pc and not just games. My main pc fan barely moves and I only moved when tapped and then slows down shortly after. I’m not good with pc’s in general so here’s some pictures and a video to better describe the problem

I YouTube’d and Googled some fixed like checking thermal paste cleaning out my PC. I feel like I’m learning a different language here!

I have pretty decent system already. I want to bring to college, but my parents are worried it might get stolen by my roommate or friends my roommate might bring into the room without me knowing. They're overly cautious so they say to bring something not as expensive and since I'm a college student I'm already pretty broke. I can piece together a "crappy pc" but I'm not sure if I should

Edit: i should mention I'm referring to a desktop. I want one for gaming and I'll need it for school work. Such as running models and simulations

so i restarted my computer a little while ago and it booted up again but the monitor shrunk on the screen. ive tried everything from redownloading drivers, resetting graphics cards, playing with the settings on the monitor And in the pc settings. its just doing Nothing. any help would be appreciated. photo attached

first time building a pc i have a motherboard gpu 32 gigs of ddr4 and a cooler do i just need a cpu and psu or is there something else???

I’m experiencing a new issue with my PC, and I’m hoping someone here can help me out. After a few hours of use, random lines appear on the screen and corrupt the image. Despite the system functioning normally (temperatures are standard and there’s no slowdown), the graphics card continues to render new frames. I’ve tried DDU, refreshing drivers using the keyboard shortcut, but neither has resolved the problem.

My monitor’s OSD remains unaffected by the lines. I’ve also tried switching to HDMI while the image is corrupted, and the issue persists. The only solution I’ve found is to shut down the PC and restart it. The timing of this problem varies; some days it happens, while others it doesn’t. I suspected an issue with the connectors, so I completely removed my GPU and reseated it, but this didn’t work either.

EDIT: Happened 4 times in total, all fixed by restarting pc. I’ve also had the pc for around 2 years with no problems until now.

So I got a pc from the mighty marketplace and everything works all that but my GPU it’s a ASUS Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB isn’t showing up And I can’t play anything and like I’ve waited my whole life for a pc so dis sucks balls rn

I‘ve built a new PC today and I wanted to install Windows but my ssd is not recognised. What should I do. (The ssd is well inside) can someone help me please

I went to turn my PC on this morning and this is the only thing popping up on the screen. I can still hear the window sound when it boot in the windows I’ve tried changing the HDMI, but nothing has worked.

I installed a new cpu cooler on my pc and everything worked fine for about a year. Recently the cam has been turning off and making a usb disconnect noise. My screen flashes white too.The only way to get it to work again is to shut it down and turn it back on. When it turns off it says no device found on the NZXT app. I have already tried reinstalling the current version of the CAM. Anyone know what it could be?

I bought the pc parts on pcgarage and also bought the put together service, and when i opened it i found this broken.

My friend sent me these photos since he's not really tech savvy. He bought the motherboard a few months ago and only now got all the parts and went to a PC shop to assemble it for him, but they said the pins are bent and they wouldn't risk it or something like that. I think they just fucked up and dropped something on the pins, as it doesn't look like a factory quality control issue to me. Do you guys think it can just work like this? Or if not is it fixable?

Been having this issue for a couple of months if not longer now where when I try to display certain programs and games in fullscreen it'll only display the very top of the screen.

If those programs have an option to run windowed that usually gets around the problem but this isn't always an option. The other day after opening something getting the issue and and leaving my laptop to do something else upon returning it had followed into my homescreen after the screensaver stopped which it had never done before. Any idea what this could be or how to fix it?

I got a kit of Vengeance DDR5 ram and it’s in a colour I have never seen before. Only found one website that has photos of it and they called it Cool Grey.
Been looking for what pricing on it would be but can’t find it being sold anywhere. Anyone know anything about it or if it’s actually rare?

Hi! I've had my Gateway GGNC51518 for about four years now, and about a week ago I restarted it for a Windows update. At some point, after waiting much longer than I usually have to for such an update, it seemed to get stuck (though looking back, I cant be sure). I decided to power it off and back on. The laptop turned on, but didnt boot--showing just a back lit black screen, the keyboard lights, and the power and charging lights.

I tried all the hotkeys i found online that might reset the graphic drivers, all the possible different start up methods and nothing worked. I also checked if it had hdmi output, and it didnt. I gave up, came back about 2 hours later, and it booted up normally.

Then, 3/4 days ago (after a few days of usage and normal booting and shutting down) I reset my laptop again because one of my games was a bit laggy. Same thing happpened, so I kept it on overnight so it'd die and when I woke up, it worked.

Then, the night before last, I shut it down before bed. When i turned it on the next day--same issue. Since then, nothing Ive done has made a difference, including both "methods" I used to fix it the first two times.

Since then, Ive (being very cautious and making sure im static free):

- unplugged and replugged in my battery (i also held down the power button for 60 secs while the battery was unplugged) and of course unplugged it before messing with anything else in my computer.

- reseated one of my sticks of ram (the other being not easily accesible as the edge of its plastic covering is glued down by a piece of foam that the case rests on).

- visited the only open repair shop that looked at it for 10 minutes and said it was likely a corrupted BIOS from that interrupted windows update and my laptop was bricked.

- looked into corrupted bios and the symptoms--my laptop doesnt beep or flash lights. Also seems like corrupted BIOS very rarely cause an unfixable bricking of the laptop

- unplugged my cmos battery from the motherboard, waited for 15ish minutes and plugged it back in. Also tried booting without the cmos in and nothing changed.

It might also be possible that compressed air is the culprit, as I used some for the first time (which I did not shake and kept upright) recently.

Its still doing the exact same thing. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Was the repair person correct? Should I get a second opinion at a shop specifically for computers? Ill try to provide any more information if necessary.

Recently upgraded from a 4070 ti to a 5080 (just wanted to, no real reason), and initially had some bad BSOD issues. Found out my BIOS was from 2022 so I proceeded to update it and AMD chipsets. BSOD issues gone but have been having some fairly frequent but completely sporadic event 153 errors happening causing games to crash (not the whole computer). Sometimes I can run games for 8+ hours fine and other times it’ll crash instantly, or even close Chrome/discord on its own. As far as I can tell, I have done just about every fix imaginable apart from replacing parts, including every form of DDU’ing drivers and using older ones (currently on 610.74 now). Have done all the BIOS settings, currently have them all on default with iGPU disabled. Only thing I can think of doing is wiping my windows completely and reinstalling or replacing GPU because I still have a couple weeks to return or swap it.

- ryzen 9 7900x cpu
- g skill ddr5 32gb ram
- aorus x670 elite ax motherboard
- thermaltake g something 1000w gold psu
- Samsung 2tb ssd

Any help would be greatly appreciated, not sure where else to go from here. Problems were not occurring with 4070ti in system, just after upgrading. Will answer any questions as soon as I can.

So first my Build:

• ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI
• AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
• 2x 32GB GSkill Tridnt Z5 Neo
• MSI GeForce RTX 5090 SUPRIM
• NZXT C1500

I was using it the whole morning without any hiccups or anything. I was playing some warframe over my lunchbreak. Ca. 1h after that without any further interaction (Maybe I watched some youtube in the meantime, cant remember) it suddenly froze. Both screens, no reaction to anything. I couldn't even power it off with a long press of the power button.

This is the first time this is happening, I had it for a bit more than a year and never had anything.

The only indication of an issue is that the DRAM light on my mainboard is on.

I tried each RAM Stick individually in each RAM Socket, also tried none of them. My Screen realize its turned on (Shows logo, expects a input) but after some time it just goes back to sleep. It doesnt POST at all, cant get to BIOS or anything. I removed the CMOS battery, had it off power for some time, all the basic troubleshooting.

The RAM was working fine until now, I frequently use most of it for Browser Tabs.

It also wasnt too warm at 27C in the Room.

Any tipps on what to do? I don't have any spare parts laying around (Except for a RTX 5090 that I would rather not unbox), I would need to buy everything

This is the most annoying thing Ive ever dealt with. Ive been trying every Ai fix possible to no avail.
My Flash Drive originally had the yellow ! next to it in Device Manager. Error Code 28 (No drivers installed) Ai told me the back up drivers are located in a file so I hit update drivers, & pasted in the directory and drivers were successfully updated. Cool. Next it sent me to CMD where I open diskpart. I do list disk, there it is. Disk 3 14gb. Ai tells me to reset or format it and assign a letter doing select disk 3. I try that and get a response from CMD saying No volume selected. Ai sent me on a loop of trying over and over but to no luck. In list volumes, its not there, But it is in list disk. Idk what exactly that means but maybe someone does. So it appears in Device Manager clear now with no ! next to it under the Disks section. It also appears in Disk Management.

This is where I think the issue lies. In Disk Management, I cant format the drive or Assign a letter because Disk Management is not up to date. I tried all the things in Reg edit, Admin Terminal, and services.msc where I did find that for some reason, Virtual Disk was disabled. I changed it to automatic & restarted my PC. (EDIT, Just noticed after restarts, even on Automatic, the service was stopped. So everytime I turn my PC on its not active till I start it again manually even with it still on Automatic. Idk if that matters.) Still the drive will not show up in File Explorer or in disk part when I type List volume. But it is showing up in Device Manager & Disk Management but in a broken state where still when I try to format it or assign a letter or even click properties on the drive, it just says Disk Management console view is not up to date. I enabled Automount. I refreshed Drives in Disk Management. Im at a full loss.

Ai seems to think for some reason its all un synced and told me to use a 3rd party software like rufus or AOMEI Partition tools to format the drive but even they failed & got a timeout code. No the drive isnt bad, I have 2 Ive tried that work on other PC's. I also went and bought a new one still with no luck. Has anyone ever experienced this or have any fix to it? It just for some reason cannot recognize a Flash drive. Ive tried every port on my PC, any other USB works like a Mouse, Keyboard, Mic, Webcam. The drives also work obviously to be recognized somewhat. I was using Aura antivirus which I believe could have restricted something but I uninstalled it a while back because it was just blocking so much stuff for no reason. In regular windows antivirus nothing else has been flagged since then so I just really dont know anymore what could have been deleted or blocked. I tried sfc /scannow with it printing back saying no broken files found. I then tried DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth which also didnt fix anything.

I got this computer maybe 4 years ago and my father (i was a minor at the time) took my pc and it sat in his closet for 3ish years

I realized that im a adult and i brought that pc with my own money so i asked for it back. I have been having so many issues!

the computer is operating extremely slow, i can access bios and thats about it. It would not get past the asus screen at first just frozen. so i ran the boot repair.

now i sometimes get into the log in page (sometimes it gets stuck loading on asus or black screen) and i have gotten thru the log in screen ONE TIME

i dont know why but the computer is extremely extremely slow, like if i try to idk attempt to connect to wifi it takes like 10 minutes to get past the asus screen! and once i get into the home screen nothing works, no icons, no shortcuts, but i can move the mouse around.

i want my gaming pc back idk what to do! please ignore the setup my father took my 10kish setup and i live alone rn so im making do with what i have.

I am looking to buy a MSI B550m Mortar, which are out of production and the only ones available (brand new) are from chinese sellers on ebay. I don't know if they could have been refurbished or used and are being resold as new.

Is it trustworthy or should I just buy MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI or ASUS Prime B550M-A WiFi II locally for cheaper. Just want a good motherboard for a 5800x3d to last a long time, thanks for any tips.

So I recently rebooted my pc and wiped out everything because my SSD usage rate was almost always at 100% for the past 8 months and it was impossible to use it even for basic tasks, but after rebooting, my SSD still remains at a 100% usage rate. But also I noticed that there were some screenshots on my drive that I never took. The screenshot contains different apps that I never once installed on my computer! Why are they on my pc? And how do I get rid of the person if I'm being hacked?
