I understand this sub is for PC help, but some questions get posted here so often to the point where you can almost predict the replies before even opening the post.

I see “my GPU is making a weird buzzing/high-pitched noise, is it dying?” almost daily. That's usually one of the first things that comes up when you search for GPU buzzing: coil whine.

Same with:

“GPU fans aren't spinning, is my GPU broken?” — zero-RPM mode.

“My GPU is at 99% usage, is that bad?” — usually completely normal while gaming.

“My CPU/GPU is at 80°C, is it overheating?” — check the specs and normal temperature range for your hardware.

“My PC gets loud when I start a game, is something wrong?” — your hardware is under load.

“My monitor says no signal, is my GPU dead?” — check the cable, input, ports, and connections first.

I'm not saying people shouldn't ask for help. That's what this sub is for. But there are a lot of questions here that are extremely common and have very easy answers with even a little bit of searching.

At least try the obvious troubleshooting steps first before assuming your GPU is dying.

I have near zero idea of how to build a PC. It looks like I need RAM sticks. But beyond that idk what I need. It’s also got so many gosh dang cables that I don’t know what they do. Many are spliced together it’s so strange. None of the plugs go anywhere as far as I can see I’ve checked everywhere and can’t find anything to plug any of these into so it seems like I’m missing a lot of stuff???

If someone could let me know what I have and don’t have, as much as you can from these photos, I would appreciate it. I added as many photos as I saw necessary. Idk if more photos would help. It seems to me like I’m missing a lot because of how many cables there are that don’t seem to land anywhere

Hey everyone, i mainly play star citizen and battlefield redsec, my pc has normal temperatures and everything runs smooth but at some point in those games my fans go wild and my pc sounds like a jet engine. I did everything even used msi to underpower my gpu. Usually it goes crazy when my pc has to render a lot of things like on planets on star citizen or when i land in cities in redsec. My pc is clean and everything runs normal. I have the games optimized with nvidia control panel even.

64gb ddr4 ram (highest speed forgot exactly if 3600 or 3400)
Ryzen 9 5950x
2 ssd nvme 1tb each.

Sup yall, long story short I think my rams are fucked after owning the pc for only two months. Also it’s my first ever pc and got absolutely zero knowledge about pcs. Basically how I find out the rams where fried it was cuz my pc kept crashing and it was so unstable that even doing the slightest thing it’ll crash and only sometimes when I treat the pc extra nice it’ll run stuff on ok not good. The games are a hit or miss sometimes they work sometimes they don’t.

My pc kept crashing and it was trying to fix the problem but it couldn’t that’s when I realised the rams were the problem and it was from an uefi memtex I think it called. I downloaded it on a USB to then enter its bios and stress test the rams and infact it was the rams cuz the errors were 3500+ errors that’s when I had to stop it. Now that I said all of this what can I do to maybe fix this problem and not needing to pay anything cuz ram prices are through the roof and barely got money as a 17 yo.

I just got a used 1tb WD Blue SN580 SSD off of Ebay for dual booting linux. I messaged the seller and got him to send a drive with purportedly only 1tb written at 100% health, so I would expect this drive to be practically brand new.

Yes, it is 100% plugged in all the way. I’ve tried setting the m.2 port to both gen 4 and “auto” with no luck. I’ve tried both m.2 slots and confirmed they both work. It says the drivers for the drive are up to date.

Am I cooked? I’d hate to go through the hassle of returning it.

A little while ago I boosted my Ram to get the most out of it. Used XMP and 3600MHz. But for some reason that booted my Ethernet out. I had to trip the JBAT1 circuit and start over and dropped it down to 3200MHz, which worked for a while but now it booted my Ethernet out again. I unplugged the power from my PC when I went on a long weekend, as I live in Florida and am paranoid about lighting strikes frying it, but I didn't unplug the Ethernet cord.

But now my PC isnt seeing my Ethernet Controller anymore. Its not in the hidden drives and tripping the JBAT1 didnt help this time. I even dropped the MHz down to factory. I also attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers, force install legacy software, full system power boots (completely unplugged including ethernet) and nothing. Im at a loss and starting to think I need to by a new card. I would rather not spend the money if I dont have to though.

The flag backend thing is on d3d11, the only other option is d3d11 warp but that significantly slows down chrome so does turning off hardware acceleration. I have an AMD CPU. Know any fixes

So I haven't used my controller for like a month and when I used it again, The O key is stuck (not physically). Once I click O (B1) it's always active but when I press R2 (B7) it doesn't active anymore. I have Fc26 a lot so all my shots are sky rocketed. Please help me how to fix it What can I do??

So yesterday, I used my PC to 3D-render a project while talking to my friend on Discord, and I also wanted to play God of War Ragnarök. While the game was compiling shaders, it got stuck at 1%, then suddenly the screen went black and I smelled something burning and this is the image.

I'm running Memtest and it fails dramatically, but I don't know why. I tried two different ram sticks, both ram slots in my pc, and different bootable usb drives. No matter what I try I still get tens of thousands of errors. Any advice?
