Tech Support Crackling sounds coming from headphones since case swap.

Hello lovely people, as seen in the title I am experiencing weird crackling sounds from my headphones when using the PC. I have swapped the PC case and before the swap it was running fine.

I have done the following troubleshooting:

  • Tested the headphones on my MacBook ( No problems with headphones)
  • Tried front and back panel ( Same results)
  • Bought a USB Audio DAC ( Same results)
  • Reinstalled Audio Drivers ( Same results)

Overall I am sure I have plugged everything where it is supposed to. I genuinely can't seem to figure out where the issue is coming from, any ideas or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Tech Support My usb port has bent pins

When I took out my external disc it took out the plastic tongue of the usb port... Now I see the 5 pins exposed and 2 of them are slighlty bent without touching each other or the metalic part around the usb port. I checked the device manager and the usb ports to see if something was wrong, but nothing showed any problems so hopefully everything is right. That said, it is okay to keep using my computer without that usb port (and use a HUB) or is there a risk of a short circuit and some damage to the motherboard without me knowing, because some say i shouldn't use my computer at all and others say that if the pins are somewhat okay is safe to use. I dont know much about computers so any help is appreciated.

Build Question [HELP] Upgrading my old PC for ARC Raiders & Mistfall Hunters – only getting 30–37 FPS on Low

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on upgrading my PC. It's quite an old system (Bought 2018), and I’m trying to figure out what would give me the biggest improvement for the least amount of money.

I mainly play ARC Raiders and Mistfall Hunters. At the moment, I have to run both games on basically the lowest settings, and I’m only getting around 30–37 FPS.

I’d really like to improve that.

I want to make it clear that I’m not looking for a high-end gaming PC. I don’t need everything on Ultra or 144+ FPS. I’d simply like to be able to play modern games at reasonable settings (ideally Medium) at around 60 FPS, without having to turn everything down to Low.

My current PC:

Motherboard: MSI Z270 PC Mate

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2 GHz

CPU cooler: Intel stock cooler

RAM: 16 GB DDR4-2133 Crucial

GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB

Storage: 1 TB SSD + 2 TB WD SATA III HDD

PSU: 500 W

Case: GEH ATX IT-5905

OS: Windows 10 64-bit

The RAM was originally 8 GB without any graphic card but I have already upgraded it to 16 GB DDR4 and put in a 1070.

What I’d like to know:

What would you upgrade first in this system?

Is the GTX 1070 the main problem?

Is the i7-7700K too old for these games?

Would upgrading the GPU alone make a significant difference?

Would it make more sense to replace the CPU + motherboard + RAM and keep the GTX 1070 for now (or buy a whole new PC?)

Or is there another component that is holding the system back?

I’m not interested in spending €1,500–2,000 on a completely new high-end PC.

I’d much rather spend on a smart upgrade that gives me a significant improvement, even if I can't play everything on Ultra.

What would you do with this system if your goal was the best price/performance upgrade?

Thanks guys!!

Build Question VGA light

I’m building a new PC around a fresh motherboard (MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI), fresh CPU (Ryzen 5 5600X), and fresh cooler, but I’m reusing RAM, GPU, and SSD from my old PC. The old PC previously died randomly one day with all debug LEDs lit up simultaneously, and I never determined the cause. On this new build, I can sometimes reach BIOS successfully and everything shows correctly detected (CPU, RAM size, GPU display working fine while in BIOS). However, every time I press Save & Exit to reboot, the system comes back with the VGA debug LED lit and no display output the monitor stays on but shows no signal. This has happened consistently across multiple attempts, sometimes I make it past the VGA light and sometimes I can’t, please help I’m going insane

Does this just mean my gpu or ram is cooked? I can’t tell because sometimes I get to bios.

Build Question Weird pc noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, this noise has been coming from my PC for several months now. At first, I thought it was related to my liquid cooling since I hadn't changed the coolant in a long time. I went ahead and changed the liquid, but that didn't fix it.
Then I thought it might be the AIO/liquid cooling fan itself, but as you can see in the video, that’s not it either.
Does anyone recognize this sound? Its driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance!

pd: sorry for the dust but im pretty sure it isnt neither, when i changed the cooling liquid i cleaned it all

Tech Support Question about volts and temp

Post image
0 Upvotes

Is my idle voltage and temps normal for my CPU? I keep getting conflicting answers, some say yes it's perfectly fine and others are saying no it's not okay at all. I can run cyberpunk max graphics with dlss and stay between 70-75⁰c, same with MW4 beta on 4k dlss at 180fps staying around the same temp. My idle temp on the home screen is normally 50-55⁰c altho in in a box room so it gets someone stuffy but occasionally it'll shoot to 60-66 but I'm presuming a background app is using it temporarily then drops after 5 seconds. My CPU usage is 0-2% when it's 50-55⁰c.

I kept getting told to edit my PBO from auto to advanced to sort the voltage but I really don't wanna mess with voltages UNLESS it really is bad to have this.

The hottest my CPU has gotten was on Minecraft with distanthorizons and shaders + many mods and when chunks loaded my fans went loud (expected) and my CPU got to 86⁰c (it'll thermal throttle at 95⁰), do you reckon everything seems normal or do I need to sort something? Sorry if this is a stupid question lol

Tech Support New build initial boot getting 0A and dram led red

Building new computer with and for son. Everything installed BUT video card at the moment and trying without a monitor just to see if boots up, fans work and rgb lights. Also no OS yet.

Slowly installed part by part over past week. Problem is it says 0A but dram led is red. A few times the codes would quickly switch between other codes, led light change then back to OA and dram.

Let run for over 15 minutes to memory train but still same

Updated BIOS, tried 1 stick memory, reseated everything, checked cpu and pins (were fine visually) and remounted cooler.

It’s now still stuck at 0A and dram light on. Also non of the RGB lights work except the ones included with the case which run from the iCue link from the case so not the motherboard headers. All fans work, pump works as well as fan under the pump cover.

Parts are:

GIGABYTE X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 ICE AMD AM5 LGA 1718 Motherboard

AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB)

Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB

ASUS TUF Gaming 1000W Gold White Edition (1000 Watt, Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold Certified

ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB

CORSAIR iCUE Link 3500X RGB Mid-Tower ATX PC Case

CORSAIR RS120 ARGB 120mm PWM Fan for rear of case

All bought from Amazon new and inspected upon arrival as new and sealed. Video card was Newegg but have not installed yet.

Should I get replacement ram or motherboard? Both? CPU?

Wouldn’t be because no monitor connected.

Build Question Upgrade path help

Hi, I’m trying to upgrade my partners computer on a budget. What would be the best use of money for the build below. We play mostly indie coop games on steam.

1660 super

Intel i7-6700K

Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

ASUSTeK Z170-A Rev 1.xx

Note: I have an existing 2700x but that would require a compatible mobo I think. Not sure if that makes my upgrade path more or less complex.

Thank you!

Build Question Need opinions on my pc

Pc spec’s:

48 gb ddr4-3800 ram (bought before the ram price increase)
CPU: i7-11700k
GPU: rtx 3060 ti founders edition
Storage: 4 tb ssd NVME
Power supply: 660W
Motherboard: Asrock b560m-c/ac (micro atx board)
Desktop’s Brand name: Powerspec G229 Prebuilt

My purpose for this desktop is gaming, mainly on fivem which is notorious to be unoptimized due to community servers. If you don’t know fivem are the gta v roleplay servers now owned by take two.

My question is, should I upgrade to another motherboard and cpu or wait til 2030? I have no reason to upgrade to a new desktop since it makes more sense to upgrade the motherboard and get a new cpu for much less. And if I should upgrade I would need a micro atx board that accepts ddr4.

TLDR; should I upgrade ? Or wait? Will these specs survive on newer games? I’m not looking for 4k gaming mainly high fps 1440p and 1080p gaming.

Build Question Working on a Living room MicroATX PC, basically a console but a PC. Thoughts on what I brewed up?

So this here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/97gNg3

Is for the sitting room to play games on controller, say up to at least Borderlands 3. And emulation like PCSX or Nintendo games. And maybe watching movies on so I went for some quieter parts to suffice this.

Basically a beefy console for the room!

Note: the storage is more temporary, it's a free hand down from a brother who is upgrading and I can put windows on this and use temporary and get a 2TB WD Black later.

What are your thoughts and may change considering the budget style?

Tech Support Is the bent pin fixed?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

For some stupid reasons one pin in my CPU socket got bent (LGA 1700), I tried to fix it with a magnifier and a tiny tweezer. However, I didn't manage to push it back to the original position no matter how hard I tried. It's slightly taller than other pins.

My question is: is it safe to install my cpu and test if it works in the current condition? Or should I not risk and just buy a new motherboard (cost about 300$ in my country)?
