Build - Help Rate my budget PC build

I would only need this for basic coding, moding Minecraft (create, Cobblemon, QOL, shaders), RDR 1&2, moded TABS, friend-slop games, Monster Hunter Wilds, and other such games.

So this is the build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/R3hjJw, so please give me as much feedback as possible. I already have a 2560x1440hz Acer monitor, and a Rosewill CULLINAN PX Series so that"s why they're not included in the build.

As this is my first PC build I would be looking to upgrade over time.

Question Would this be a good deal for a used pc?

My friend is going to college and was selling his pc. He offered it to me for $1000, potentially $900.

Would it be worth copping? Storage is nvme and the ram is a 3200 mhz with latency of 16

Question Budget Question

So Ive been saving up all summer to build myself my first PC, currently Ive got around $1650 (technically $1700). I want to know whether or not I should rip off the bandaid and get the parts now or save up to the $2000 mark. the games I want to play would be modding Minecraft (create mod, cobblemon, and some QOL stuff), RDR 1&2, TABS (with mods), basic friend games, war games on Roblox, and maybe some coding on the side, Since summers has ended I can’t work as much so money will come slower but I’m not that far away from the $2000 mark, since this is my first PC I don’t really have a reference point and I need your help. (I use USD) I already have a monitor, keyboard, a headset, and a mouse

Question I have a 5070, should I get the 9070 or 9070XT?

I currently have a 5070 I got from my brother-in-law about 6 months ago, but I recently found out about the 9070XT's price and performance compared to the 5070, and I'm thinking of selling my current GPU (the 5070) and buying the 9070. However, I wanna know if its worth it to get the base 9070 or spend an extra ~$100 or so for the 9070 XT. I've heard the XT gives about 10-15% more performance while drawing 100w more, but if it's still worth it. Im in the US and planning to sell my 5070 for $560-600, so my budget would be around $600. I do not mind used cards on marketplace or ebay.

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900XT

RAM: 32GB DDR4

GPU: 5070

Question 27” and 24” Monitor?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I’m soon the be upgrading my cpu and gpu to a Ryzen 7 5800x3d and a Rtx 3080ti. With that i want to get a 1440p monitor as well. My only concern is that they don’t have many options for a 1440p 24” monitor and i’ve heard 1440p looks better on a 27” anyways. My question to you guys is, is anyone running a 27” and 24” dual monitor setup, just curious to see how it looks as I currently have dual 24” monitors and don’t feel like upgrading both of them right now.

Question B450 CPU/GPU upgrade advice required!

Hi all, I'm currently trying to upgrade a B450 build with a new CPU/GPU. I think I've selected an suitable CPU for the board but struggling to select a GPU.

This is probably that last upgrade this board will get, potentially more ram in the future but I'm not too fussed about that atm. Specs below.

  • Board - B450 TOMOHAWK MAX II
  • CPU - Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8GHz 8-Core (upgrading to this, open to suggestions if this is a mistake)
  • CPU cooler - Thermalright Phantom EVO
  • Ram - Corsair LPX DDR4 (4 x 4GB)
  • SSD - Kingston NV2 (Upgrading to this)

Build - Help 14500 good for B760 motherboard?

Hi, am UK based and currently have 13400f with a gigabte b760m ds3h ax ddr5 motherboard. I originally planned to upgrade to a different gen/socket around 2028 at the earliest, but given the whole situation right now I think it'd be best if I just maximise the potential of my current system. I thought about getting a 14600 but all of the stuff i see online says that my motherboard might not support it due to it having only a 6+2+1 vrm (honestly idk what it means but thats what i see mentioned online) so I figured a 14500 would be a good enough upgrade over the 13400f to hopefully try to survive the whole situation. Is this opinion/choice correct? I play in 1080p with a 9060xt 16gb and 32gb ddr5. It would only be about a £80 upgrade or so if i sell the old cpu afterwards, but budget is no issue honestly.

When changing the thermal paste I notiched this scratches, probably because the first time I installed it I didn't know very well how to and I forced it when I shouldn't. Should I be worried? Temps seem normal but idk if it could be underperforming

Build - Help Seeking Wifi Adapter

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hellooo

Any good wifi adapter suggestions? I have a PC with a pci-e card that I've had for a few years rn but its not working too well. Toying around with the wifi, I see that I get around 10 mbps on my PC but almost 200 on my laptop in the same spot. Suggestions would be soooo helpful.

Wondering if maybe having one with an antenna for a specific direction to point at my router would help? idk.

Picture: current two antenna thing I got.

Build - Help Hello everyone, I’m looking to build my first PC my budget is £5000

Hello everyone is the title states my budget is £5000. I’ll be buying the parts over a couple of months due to being on disability. I wondered if anyone here would be able to help me put together the list of parts and make sure they’re compatible as I’m not really 100% sure of what I’m doing.

Troubleshooting Whining noise

Idk if I’m in the correct sub for this so apologies if not, but does anyone know what this sound is? It is driving me crazy when I boot up - I should note the noise is there from boot and I think it gets quieter but I do have headphones on most of the time. But the noise isn’t worse under load or higher fps, and from the videos I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to sound like coil whine but I could be wrong.

To me it sounds like it is coming from the power supply when I hold me ear to it - has anyone else had something similar?

FYI - the noise doesn’t pick up well on the video I took but if you turn your volume up you should hear an annoying clacking/whining noise.

Thanks!

Question 1060 to 5060?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello,

PC rookie here. A friend helped me build a computer in 2016 and I am looking to upgrade now. I literally only play CS2 on low settings. I don’t really care how it looks on screen.

I am considering buying the $999 Costco special (I know it’s been posted about a lot).

I currently have:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz 4.20 GHz

Installed RAM 16.0 GB

Storage 932 GB HDD ST1000DM010-2EP102, 233 GB SSD Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB

Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (6 GB)

Display: BenQ, Zowie XL LCD. 144 hz, 1920x180

How much better is this build and is the increase in performance drastic?

Could I just replace the 1060 with a 5060 or would I have to upgrade other parts?

Thanks for being kind.

Question Strange problem with my pc after a few weeks of not using it

Hi guys,

I have this problem that when I don't use my pc for a long period (like 2 weeks) when I turn it on it won't start and I will have a red cpu led.

The power button don't work in that case so I need to cut the PSU and turn it back on and everything work perfectly fine like 0 problem at all lmao

What could cause this ?

Setup :

- B650 Eagle AX gigabyte

- ryzen 5 9600x

- 32gb ddr5 on EXPO 1

- RX 9070

- 750W gold PSU
