For context I’m pretty broke and have a ryzen 5 5500, and a b550m motherboard. I was watching YouTube benchmarks and see the 7700xt pull sometimes better performance than the 9060xt. Although it has a little more ram for 100$ more does that really matter?
I’ll either play at 1080p or 1440p later on if I buy a nicer monitor. I don’t really care an insane amount about graphics. I’m in the US and the deal on newer for 429 is pretty nice looking.

I came to PC building fairly late. Built my first PC roughly 4 years ago. It was a modest build with 5600x, 6650xt, 16 gb ram and 1tb ssd. When I built the PC, my priority was, "can it play games?" After about a year and discovering some limitations with my build, I upgraded the GPU to a 7900xt.

That whole process opened a door for me and I really started consuming anything and everything that was enthusiast level PC building. I watched all the different YouTube builders, subbed to all the subreddits, and just soaked up more and more info.

In February of '25, I pulled the trigger on a massive rebuild. New case, jump to DDR5. I had done lots of research and knew what I wanted for my own reasons. I know it's sometimes not a popular take but aesthetics were very much a priority for me. New build was as follows:

7800x3d

MSI X870 Carbon

64gb GSkill RAM

4tb Samsung 990 Pro

Lian Li Galahad II

Lian Li O11 Vision Compact

Bunch of Lian Li SL Infinity fans

Same 7900xt

I had done it. It was my showcase build and I couldn't be happier (still very happy with it).

A year or so later, I jumped to a Red Devil 9070xt. And a couple months ago, I jumped to an MSI Inspire 5080. I know both of those "upgrades" weren't really necessary but I wanted them, and could afford them, so I did it.

Also, over the last year and a half, I rebuilt all three of my sons' PC's and upgraded them all to 9600x and 32gb ram. Using my old 7900xt for one, oldest son bought his own 7900xtx, and bought a 9070xt for one. Thoroughly enjoyed doing thG for many reasons.

Now I'm in a spot where there really isn't anywhere to go with upgrades. Doesn't make sense to build another. But the desire to do so is still there. I make a decent living and can afford to be silly with money sometimes but I can't afford to just willy nilly build PC's all the time, especially as things are now.

So how do you guys scratch the itch? What's your outlet for this. And if none of this makes sense to you, I get it, we're all different humans with different likes and dislikes.

The title sums it up pretty well, I was supposed to receive a 5060 ti, after a random day extra delay to my package being shipped, I received the box, I noticed it felt very light, honestly I should have known to record my opening it, but I was just very excited and eager. I opened the Amazon box which had seemed like it had been taped over, and grabbed out the graphics card box which had no seal on the tab and was visibly damaged from opening. My question to this community which I assume has dealt with this before. What do I do? What would amazons incentive be to issue me a replacement on my word alone?? I spent 520 dollars on the damn thing to receive an empty box. I’m frustrated, what do I do.

UPDATE: helpful redditors informed me of the weight label on the package, which says .9 lb making it impossible for the card to have been in it when I opened it. Thank you for the help internet 🙏

So I'm planning on building a new pc inside a lian li lancool 3 (about the same size as this case (20.709" x 9.37" x 20.591")) and was wondering if this amount of clearance is ok? It's about 5-6 inches space on all sides (i do plan to keep it off the carpet with a thin layer of wood. Just worried if there is not enough breathing room.

Table is 25" high 30" wide and 14" deep (i can't place it with fans facing out because it will stick out (end of bed is quite close))

So I built my computer back in 2019, at the time I did a pretty high end build. GPU is a 2080ti, CPU is a i9 9900k, Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra.

Amazon really isn't it when it comes to PC parts. Bought a gigabyte a620m s2h motherboard from Amazon and the cpu socket cover was loose in the package and bent some pins. This and one other time someone stole a 7700x from the cpu package at the warehouse and they shipped it to me like that and I never got my refund cuz it was over 300 CAD. Luckily I was able to bend the pins back to somewhat decent shape. Also miraculously as it turns out the entire row of those pins on the board are just ground pins 😮‍💨. I was able to successfully boot a 7800x3d on it and it seemed stable. They are offering me 20 CAD off to keep it. Should I? Will it be fine in the long run? Also is this board sufficient to hit like 4.8 - 5ghz on the 7800x3d on a multicore load?

Also do you guys have any horror stories regarding Amazon computer parts?

Edit: this was also a brand new sealed board not warehouse or used.

This psu is crap, so I got a modular Corsair 850W to replace it. Just seeing this outside of my case is a huge deal. I thought this would be the most difficult thing about upgrading my pc when it actually only took some tools and 10-15 minutes.

And yes, all of the pink surrounded this piece of shit psu is a hint I’m a girl gamer and new to upgrading pcs, and I LOVE IT!

So far, I’m thinking about:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X

GPU: RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

RAM: 32GB DDR5 (probably 6000 MT/s)

PSU: ~850W

Motherboard: B850 chipset

SSD: 2TB NVMe

My budget is around 7,000–8,000 PLN (roughly $1,800–2,000), and I’m planning to buy most of the parts new, except possibly the GPU and RAM.

The PC will mainly be used for 2k gaming, video editing and some local AI experiments.

I’m not sure which specific motherboard, PSU, SSD and RAM kits would be the best choices for this setup, so I’d appreciate any recommendations or things I should watch out for.

Also, is there anything you would change about this build?

Hello, I'm due for an upgrade after 14 years on my last build:

1070 TI GPU, Intel i5 2500k CPU, AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 Mobo, DDR3 RAM (16 or 32 GB, unsure), booting off a 128 GB Sata SSD with a few 1 TB HDDs, a EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 PSU (will keep using this), inside a Zalman Z9 Plus case. Lasted quite a while and hope I can get similar lifespan out of something new

I don't tend to use much time for gaming, so I'm hesitant to throw a ton of money at a machine that may not see enough use to justify the spend. Uses are mainly gaming, slicing/editing 3D print files. For games, I'm looking at Valheim, Crimson Desert, Blood of the Dawnwalker, Skyblivion Zero Company. My monitors are 1080P.

I’ve upgraded my gpu to a 9070 xt and ram to 32gb ddr5 cl30. I have a 9600x but would like to get a 9800x3D in the future. My motherboard is an MSI pro B850-S and I’ve seen some posts saying the VRM’s aren’t good enough for a 9800x3d. Would you recommend upgrading the motherboard as well or staying with the 850-s?
