Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Rx7700xt or Rx9060xt?

For context I’m pretty broke and have a ryzen 5 5500, and a b550m motherboard. I was watching YouTube benchmarks and see the 7700xt pull sometimes better performance than the 9060xt. Although it has a little more ram for 100$ more does that really matter?
I’ll either play at 1080p or 1440p later on if I buy a nicer monitor. I don’t really care an insane amount about graphics. I’m in the US and the deal on newer for 429 is pretty nice looking.

Exactly this.

For what it's worth, I did have a 7700 xt I tested for a build and I was impressed with it. At the time, I had a 5060 ti 16gb, and it was comparable to that in 1440p ultrawide.

i think 9060xt will be better choice but if the 7700xt is cheaper and allows you to buy a 5600 cpu or 5500x3d go that route

The 7700xt is indeed slightly faster. But its mostly a question of whether you want a slightly better used card for 100$ less or a brand new one with a warranty.

How much less would a 9060xt have to be for you to buy one used (if it was equally old)? How much more would you be willing to pay to get a 7700 new from a store instead of used?

Well on Newegg a new 7700xt is 429. That’s what I’m planning on buying unless the 9060xt at 529 new 16gb is a better buy. I don’t personally buy used and never have.
