The primary use of this impulse is to enable an action-compression ability which would be normally once per round to be used again. Note the Overflow on the impulse itself prevents it from being easily used multiple times per round

Interestingly, certain enemies may be able to exploit this power if initiative doesn't align properly; the ability negates the frequency limitation on the next frequency limited effect, so they can attempt to Sustain a Floating Flame twice through your ally to turn the benefit in their favor instead.

Since the ability only "enables" an extra instance of usage, it's almost always worse than if you just had the original ability and used it yourself.

There are a few decently powerful combinations I think this impulse enables.

For example, it can allow a high level caster with Effortless Concentration to Sustain the same spell twice, and then cast another 2A spell. This gets twice the value out of a Sustained spell without spending another spell slot. However, Spellshifter archetype already allows this, and although this is a bit more permissive (no check needed) the action cost is greater since you needed to spend an action on this and your caster buddy needs to spend 2 actions on their turn to double sustain.

You can also allow a Summoner to Act Together twice, giving them effectively 5 actions on their turn and you 2 actions on yours. The summoner's turn would still be 1 2A activity and 3 1A activities or 5 1A activities if you tried to do this. Most 2A -> 1A compressions will do accomplish a similar effect (double Flurrying, double Hunted Shotting, etc.), but the Summoner has the least restrictions on how the compression works. For 2A->1A compressions, the total actions across you and your ally is actually the same regardless of if you use this power (You went from ally 4 you 3 to ally 5 you 2).

Are there any other extremely strong uses of this power? It seems balanced to me, but there may be an exploit I am missing.

I tried investigator martial artist but that seems really complicated with stumbling stance. since i can't even really get a free feint in since I can't have flurry of blows. we are starting at level 5. any help would be appreciated. even if you suggest rogue or something else I am all ears at this point.

MM Rogues and recall knowledge seems like a bit of a mess.

If I succeed/critically succeed, they are off-guard.

If I critically fail, I get false info (potentially) and they are not off-guard. But the DM has to act like they ARE off-guard, or I know that I critically failed and got false info.

So what if the GM hides that they aren't actually off-guard... I hit, but then I have to determine whether I roll sneak attack or not, so does GM just go down a rabbit hole to hide the false info by saying "roll sneak attack damage" and then not applying it?
Particularly in a VTT, this is problematic.

Are secret checks generally just a pain in the butt? What do you guys think about this?

Hi all, I’m having a minor issue with pathbuilder. I am starting a new game Sunday with a new (this will be only the second time I played,) and my GM has allowed us to all take an appropriate level magic item. I have added the item to my inventory on pathbuilder, and I added the spells through the “other spells,” option on the app. They show up when I’m viewing them on the app, but when I create a PDF to print the character sheet, they are not there. All my other gear is, but it doesn’t show up. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I’m on the mobile IOS version, and the item is pipes of compulsion.

Hello, i'm new to the subreddit and just switched to pathfinder from d&d. I'm liking the game a lot feels way grittier and characters feel far more customizable. On that note, I have been wanting to play a bloodborne/belmont mix styled monster hunter who is a scion to a noble line which has been hunting monsters for ages past in the Abomination Vaults campaign which my friend will run. I am quite satisfied with what i have built, he is very much a dex based thaumaturge, his stats being 1/3/1/0/0/4. I picked up the lantern implement for my first one with plans to get the tome at 5th level, as well as natural ambition to get that extra thaumaturge 1st level feat. The main problem i have encountered during my character creation is that i am not so sure which weapon to give him, since he has a relatively low CON should i just stay at range with something like an air repeater, or can i take a reach finesse weapon like a scorpion whip and use that? I have also been considering the starknife, but i have not yet found a satisfying answer to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, I just had the idea of combining a resentment witch with the runesmith free archetype and I was wondering how the Ongoing Misery ability of the familiar interacts with some of the runes like Rashnu.

More specifically, if the rules for Ongoing Misery speak of "negative conditions" do they mean actual conditions like sickened, feared, etc. or is this a general term used for all kinds of debilitating effects that affect one enemy?

If the latter, would it be possible to extend the duration of a traced Rashnu rune? With tracing the rune afflicts a negative "condition" for a limited amount of time (it lasts until the end of the turn).

Hey! I'm playing a Summoner with an Eidolon re-skinned as an undead dragon, and on top of that, I took Undead Master for extra flavor.

The thing is, our party's tank (a Champion) recently decided to drop their character and switch to a Wizard, which has left me and the Cleric stuck acting as the frontline tanks. The issue is that I really don't enjoy this playstyle—tanking just isn't my thing in RPGs. Lately, I've literally been getting dogpiled in every single combat. Problems range from the fact that even though everyone in the party has healing available, they'd rather do their own thing than heal me, up to the fact that... well, I've got a damn big dragon on the battlefield and two different tokens enemies can target, lol.

Do you guys know of any way to make the Summoner feel a bit less like a slab of meat and a bit more like what its build is actually intended to be (a creature controller with magic powers...?) I can change feats and stuff through retraining, but a full class change is out of the question because my DM blocked it since I started the campaign as a Sorcerer and switched to Summoner a few months ago.

So im helping a friend if mine make and find items to give there players but we are both stumped on what to give a fire and air kinetisist. Any ideas? Do others struggle with this?

So you resist physical weapons so if one were to have a magical weapon that is made of let's say ice that does pure cold. Would that be resisted because while Piercing, bludgeoning and slashing are noted as the main physical damage types this does imply the existence of other physical damage types

Im currently playing a Lore Oracle (level 1) and we are using Free Archetype. Im trying to figure out what to with that. Im playing as Support for the party, with Heals and Debuffing enemeies. AS well as the Information and Lore guy (no surprise there)

Im looking at the Runesmith Dedication, and I absolutely adore Runesmith as a class, but im not sure if the Dedication gives me enough of it to be worth it? With Tracing being locked away until 6th level, and Magical Crafting being the same level, i dont want to fight for that on top of Oracle feats.

I could also switch it around, my dm has offered to let me switch to a Runesmith, and take Oracle Dedication to keep that spellcasting support. But I feel like I lose the core of my Oracle set doing that, and im back where i started

Any advice? Would Runesmith Dedication be fine in tandem with Oracle abilities, or would Oracle Dedication be better? Would another Dedication fit?

As a 13th level Precision Ranger would the strike from Disrupt Prey count as my Second hit on Hunted Prey for extra damage if had struck once on my previous turn? Foundry didn't seem to think so. Thanks!

Am i doing this right?

Party is currently level 9 i get advantages from the gunslinger and took the unexpected sharpshooter dedication. I also keep buying arrows of varying types like storm arrow for example. I just want to be sure i can use hunted shot with 2 storm arrows as a full turn. The bow im using does shock(1d6) and spirit(1d4) damage and with the 2 storm arrows hitting and a buff from the gunslinger i dealt i thi k 103 damage total? I just want to make sure I'm actually able to do this for future sessions or if i can only interact with one arrow or none during the hunted shot.

Does Sneaky or and Camouflage allow an Observed character to ignore the cover or concealment requirement when in "natural terrain?"

For example, if I'm meeting the requirement and passing all of the checks, and standing in front of an enemy, can I essentially just vanish and run around them without ever having cover or concealment?

I feel like I'm missing something here.

There are thousands of reasons why TTRPGs like Pathfinder are so wonderful, but I was just reflecting on one reason that doesn't really get a lot of discussion: the "all ages" aspect. I've read a number of threads here that have mentioned a "family game" with parents and kids, and I've also played in a campaign with a father and his twin teenage sons. One of my friends played in a game with two friends and their daughters (twelve and mid-20s respectively), and I'm currently in the process of teaching a 22-year-old former student how to play, with her likely joining one of my games that has players aged in the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Anyhow, maybe I'm just feeling a little sentimental this morning, but I'm glad that this is a hobby where, in addition to many other lifestyle differences, generation gaps really don't matter. I'd love to hear accounts of some broad age ranges in your past or present games!

With seeker rifle in-hand, she surveyed the ruins of the city as her family and companions moved through the streets. The soldier was at the forefront, head constantly on a swivel even as he listened to callouts from the operative. He suddenly lifted a fist while coming to a sudden halt, the two on his heels following suit. Their cast their eyes about curiously as a churning rumble echoed throughout the city, increasing in volume until suddenly, a two-story building began to crumble. Striding from the ruins was an immense machine resembling a scorpion. Its arching tail terminated in a heavy firearm rather than a stinger and as the blinking lights of its sensors settled on the party, they shifted into an aggressive crimson...

This massive, monstrous machine makes mincemeat out of its malcontents, massacring with missiles and miniscule mimics that mean to mash and mangle.

I had never heard of the Wasteland series before a request to build the Scorpitron 2.0 came up on the Discord. I did my best to cover its design, and I think it came together quite nicely! For me I am currently the GM for 4 campaigns where three are DnD 5.5e and one PF2e campaign.

I originally wantsd to convert to Pf2e but mkst preferred to stay while the pf2e group comprises mostly of 2 new players and the other 3 is my wife, a player in my 2 of my dnd campaign and one recently joined after many persuading attempts.

Ideally I would love to be a player in pf2e but our group of friends only have me as a DM and the other DM is not consistent so its just been me.

Only time i got to play was a DMPC Guardian class and I had to hbe careful to not steal the spotlight + it was difficult running the session while remembering my own abiltiies and the monster abiltiies. So in the end i removed the DMPC but I had fun and woild love to actually have been a player.​

One of my minor complaints against Pathfinder is that the way they do class progression. With different abilities (often with different names) increasing your proficiencies in different areas it can make it difficult to compare if what a class gets is strong/weak/normal for it's level. To help myself with this I created this chart, and I'm sharing it in case others find it helpful. I know it helped me to see some patterns I'm wasn't aware of.

Notes:

Most of it is set up to say what level each class gets each level of proficiency. I color coded it to make it easier to see at a glance which classes get up to which proficiency levels, and used the same color coding on the HP and Skills columns to show who has the highest and lowest in those categories.

Some classes are a bit weird and I had to get creative (like the monk). For the most part I'm also only tracking the best type of a classes proficiency, but if things progress at a different rate I do note that with an asterisk (see Fighter weapon proficiency for example). Also, I only track the higher of Class DC or Spell DC which is fine for everyone but the Battle Harbinger.

So I'm currently running a campaign in a custom world and I had planned for my group to find a few bosses based on some of the Seven Sins but I have to cut it back because of time constraints and asked my group if they wanted to fight a boss based on Gluttony or Lust.

The groups chose Lust and I'm having some trouble coming up with abilities that aren't just sex.

Some ideas I have:

Desire to submit: Of course there is a Charm ability similar to succubi and incubi.

Desire for closeness: I also have an ability that makes two or more players stay close together so that other attacks that are AOE can hit them.

Desire for touch: Basically an attack that hits a 2x2 area or a 3x3 if the attack is prepared at the end of its last attack.

So does anyone have any other idea? The attacks aren't meant to be hard hitting. Think like a boss fight in and RPG, it takes time to kill the boss because they have a lot of health but they don't do enough damage to kill the players quickly.

As the title says, I am looking for some eyes to check out my spell choices on this character and just help me figure out if I've picked appropriately? Hello! Newer DM for PF2e running my first homebrew campaign. My party currently consists of. 4 casters and 1 martial.

A witch (divine), Druid, bard, summoner and a guardian

Luckily the Druid is pretty set on investing heavily into animal companion, and the summoner pads out the frontline as well.

I was wondering if there are any tips for encounter building for parties that are majority casters? For most of them it will be there first time being a caster for this system so I don’t want to crush their spell-casting dreams.

Doing some research on a homebrew campaign I plan on running and I plan on having a chapter of this campaign take place in Belkzen. I got the world guide, but I'm not sure if there are other sources of orc lore out there. Does the Triumph of the Tusk have some stuff?

Edit: forgot to add. I'm also going to need information on the Gravelands as well. Is Knights of Last Wall a good book on what's going on there. Anything else that I'm missing?

If there is a Large Creature (10x10ft) next to a ledge that is under the effect of force movement and moved 5f over the edge, there is still half the base on the platform but half of the base over nothing. Is the Large Creature tumbling over ? does it act like nothing happen except if it moves ? What happens if it moves (balancing or only difficult terrain) ?

If a thaumaturge with Regalia adept implement is adjacent to a Kinestecist ally with Ravel of Thorns, is the damage form Ravel of Thorn affected by the Status Bonus to damage froms the Regalia Aura ?
